Apple releases iPhone OS 3.1.3
With the unveiling of the Apple iPad behind us, some were eager in seeing the latest iPhone OS to make an appearance during last week’s event in San Francisco. Fortunately iPhone owners are getting an update; although it doesn’t bring forth anything that would excite owners too much. You can connect your iPhone to iTunes and grab yourself the latest OS 3.1.3 – which brings along some back end fixes that won’t bring down the house. It improves the accuracy of the reported battery level on the iPhone 3GS, resolves issue where third-party apps would not launch in some instances, and fixes bugs that may cause an app to crash when using the Japanese Kana keyboard. So there you have it folks – just your typical update that resolves some bugs. Jailbroken owners may want to hold back from installing the update right now until they get the green light. If you’re not in that boat, then go right ahead and get yourself into the latest iPhone OS.

if it doesn't bring forth anything exciting, then why post the article phonearena?

2. testman22 posted on 02 Feb 2010, 17:42

because its apple and apparently anything apple related is news worthy. steve jobs could take a giant dump and phone arena would post an article about it

You guys are fucking idiots. It's a phone news site, it's a phone related update. Is it really that hard to figure out? They post small updates for other phones too, I'll be expecting your pointless comments there as well, can't wait.

Tell us fanman, what about the iPhone would qualify to YOU as exciting? Nothing? That's exactly what I thought...

the 3.2 software update.

Ok Hova, so if this is a phone website, wtf have there been like 10 different article posting about the ipad (aka tampod). Is the Ipad a phone?? NO.

18. nomass posted on 02 Feb 2010, 20:14

actually the iPad is going to come out as a 3G + Wifi Model so yes it will be a cellular device and I'm sure it wont take to long for someone to come up with a way to do VOIP on it so yes it is a phone... which could even be done on the WIFI only model too... but any way.

19. testman22 posted on 02 Feb 2010, 20:52

Just because something uses data connections through 3G does not make it a cellular device. And why does someone have to "come up with a way" to enable VOIP? Apple should be creating a user friendy experience to use this device for the features we want, and not have to hack the damn thing to make it do what we want. So no, upon release, this is not a phone

Data cards aren't phones either but are cellular devices, what's your point. You're doing a great job of continuing your asinine assault here.

the only thing more predictable than PA covering everything iPhone, is fanman complaining about it! lol

5. E.N. posted on 02 Feb 2010, 18:11

Why are the first three posters Verizon users? You guys are seriously obsessed. I think you guys care more about the iPhone than I do. Some of you guys post bad and haterish things on almost every single iPhone article. Why?

6. shimmyx20 posted on 02 Feb 2010, 18:13

Very true, good sir, it seems those guys are way too obsessed with the iPhone..lol

11. vzw fanman posted on 02 Feb 2010, 19:19

it's because the phonearena community is mostly verizon subscribers. and go to the fanpage on at&t, you'll see me a lot. ;-)

I really must agree with the original poster in that this is a small OS update and not really worth an article. Anybody this would effect will know about it the next time they plug in their iPhone to iTunes. OS updates that will provide a significant change to the user's experience of the device are one thing, but not every X.X.1 update needs to be posted.

So let me get this straight. Its ok for pointless articles for the Droid and Android but not the the iphone? That doesnt make sense. I have yet to read Droid users complaining about Droid and/or android articles. Theres users for every phone out there. Just because it isnt relevant to the Droid doesnt mean you have to complain. Since my computer is broken, i found this article useful on my iphone and wouldnt have known there was an update. So quit whining and get over yourselves with your Droids. Its so sickening how much you guys complain about the iphone yet always post on iphone articles.

12. vzw fanman posted on 02 Feb 2010, 19:20

i'm not complaining that it is an iphone article, i am wondering why a small software update is considered news worthy?

15. testman22 posted on 02 Feb 2010, 19:47

droid is new and exciting, with many devices, different form factors, and is on many carriers. The iphone has been the same news and rumors for 3 years now. Apple has 1 phone, 1 carrier and has been upgrading its features at a snail-like pace

24. clevername posted on 03 Feb 2010, 09:48

S is the first post I've read with a goodreason to explain droid over iPhone fandom. Kudos good sir. Just don't take it overboard like some of these other asses. Kudos.

25. clevername posted on 03 Feb 2010, 09:59

Honestly it's not newsworthy. This update is so bland I didn't even bother to download it. But phone arena posts an article about every update be it maemo, android or iPhone. Even winmo, bb, and well if there ever was a symbian update.

Hey Vzwfanman, question. As much as you try to ish on apple and the Iphone( Best smartphone in the world btw) why in the hell are you always on phonearena and always posting your much valued opinion on apple related articles. Do you have a life outside of phonearena, and are you obsessed with Apple? IPhone!!! F.E.E.!!!
