How will the software differentiate between accidental touch and picking it up in a rush? Too broad and too vague. No working prototype either.

Exactly. I read this and was like....wtf?

I jog with my phone, listen to music. Sometimes I hold it. I rush in the morning sometimes and run out the door. Sometimes I jog on the way home. This is insane....lol.

Good idea, but needs to be tweaked a lil.

So very true. If I have to run out the door with 10 minutes to get to work, I will have to deal with an alarm, passwords and so on ??? I think Apple has become more of a useless patent mill than anything else...

I think that they're just patenting everything so that their competitors cannot make such technology. Also, I think their thinking is that if you cannot drive innovation, just slow it down by patenting this and that, so others cannot come up with something like this and that.

this is stupid! Pure stupid!
And I am sure Apple is goint to say that they have discovered a revolutionary, extraordinary and out of this world technique for anti-theft whatever!
Anti theft has been around like forever....i remeber my samsung phone had it even before android or ios came into existence.

Tell me again how does patent application works? Can I hire a group of people, brain storming all the wierdest ideas, write them down and apply for patents? No need for working models or prototypes. Then just wait until some other company step on the patent trap. COOL!!

Small correction ... from Apple's perspective you don't even have to dream ideas ... you just have to steal it and run to patent office ASAP :)

This is more of a Joke more than a feature really. There have been news of hi tech cars weighing over 1.5 tonnes with hi tech anti theft systems installed/builtin being stolen easily from open areas ... this is just a 150gram crap.

I'm not an apple fan , but Apple is known for its perfection...if it's going to bring out some new feature , be it completely new or an inspired idea , it won't bring it until it works perfectly( just one exception : iOS 6 maps)....so I don't think there will be a problem with the functionality and usability of this feature , if ever implemented , as many people fear.......
