That's an interesting read. Particularly the "Design with the user in mind" part. However - what Apple forgets is the fact that the PC is a sandbox. There can be no uniform way of making apps in the long run, because the PC has infinite possibilities and infinite capacity for creation.

I understand what Apple is trying to do - and what their goal is - however - the price to pay is innovation, and freedom of choice taken from the end user.

PCs - be it phones, tablets or even mainframes - nowadays all offer a GUI - graphic user interface. And that GUI - especially when it comes to such intimate PC forms as phones - is very much a part of ourselves. And if we can't shape it and fit it to look and feel exactly as we want - there is some definite frustration to be had here.

It's like Photoshop. Imagine that instead of all the freedom you are given in Photoshop - you have instead only what MS Painter offers. That would be horrible, now wouldn't it?

Nicely structured comment btw not like some of the raving haters or lovers of apple.

I however agree and disagree with you.
Really and truly I care not how the developer gets the app to work but once I as the end user get a quality product (PC or Apple or sandboxing or forest roaming or whatever else it have) I am a pretty happy camper here.

Just my 2 cents.

A quality product is important. But diversity is AS important as quality, if not more, imo.

Imagine if you could only wear one type of clothes. In different colors - but only one type. Would that not drive you mad, even if these were quality clothes?
