Apple now has no choice but to release a 'Retina' iPad mini ASAP

Here is a prediction from us - we simply cannot imagine Apple releasing a non-Retina iPad mini. The 2013 Nexus 7 renders the current iPad mini obsolete…

Someone pls. tell me the N7II comes to Europe earlier than September, and will be available in various Play Stores. Waited since May to hand out the dough, getting frustrated here.
Yo Google! I want to read your ads on a tablet, send me a device, will ya?

Plus one and sharing the frustation since May too... I thought let's wait a bit and buy it before the summer holidays.
It's getting really late.

Depending on where in Europe you are living it could take up until November before you will be able to fetch one. That's exactly how long it took me last year to get the first gen Nexus 7. Unless you are living in France, Germany or Spain, because those are the only European countries that actually exist for Google, since they have a hardware Play Store...

Germany would be fine, but it needs to hit the Play Store soon damn it. :(

They never should of released the mini with 1024x768 @ $329, that was beyond embarrassing. So ya, they do have a choice and they only do what makes them the most money. And what makes them the most money is incremental releases of products, like the iPad 2/4 and the entire S line... oh and of course the Mini

Even if iPad Mini 2 comes with 1080p this one is still cheaper, a lot.

The Nexus 7 is cheaper but it is quite narrow and has a very wide beze at each end. I'd rather pay more for the bigger iPad Mini. A lot more viewing space. Worth the higher price too.

let there be war...google is waking up the sleeping giant.

If you're calling Apple the sleeping giant, sorry but that giant hasn't had sleep for a long time... And is on the run for its life. The bigger they are, the harder they fall.

275000 tablet optimized app of apple no longer look impressive? How many tablet optimized app are there for android?
15. _Bone_ (Posts: 2150; Member since: 29 Oct 2012)
Android automatically scales for any size and resolution. Each of the 1.000.000 apps look great on a 7 inch tablet, but there are huge number of what you at fragmented Apple call "tablet optimized apps". It's 2013 bro.

If you want the best experience each app should be optimized for tablets regardless. Scaling is only a bandaid. A good enough one, granted, but not optimal.

Apple just can't release a retina iPad mini at $329 because their still trying to justify the need for the $500 9.7" retina iPad. Apple made a huge mistake in even releasing a mini to battle the Nexus because it has lowered the initial asking price while bumping up the expectations thus killing the desire to own the bread and butter model. Same is happening with the iPhone with this low cost model.
Apple was doomed the moment Steve Jobs died. Steve knew this was going to happen by bad mouthing smaller tablets. Apple has fallen into Google's trap. Just look at the title of this article. No one really talks about the $500 iPad 4 do they?

Let's hope they do. I'd love to replace my iPad Mini with a retina version :)

"the new Nexus 7 straps it off" - maybe "strips it of"?

Apple is not all that bad they just have it overpriced

So thoroughly argumented, let's see if that opinion changes in a year or two when 7 inch smartphone becomes an android standard.

Apple could very well have put retina in their first mini, and the fact that they didn't really shines through as far as their tactics to "upgrade" their products for another generation. I've been waiting for the retina mini for a while now, so if they really don't go through with it I wouldn't even know what to think of them anymore. The sad thing is, people would STILL buy it just cause it's newer.

Reti-what? oh God please, nobody is giving a damn on whatever ipad mini from whatever hypocrite company, everyone is paying attention to the king of small sized tablet: New Nexus 7
23. amir1975 (Posts: 22; Member since: 18 Aug 2012)
Apple should die! i Hate the company, it's for dumb people who never investigate about their gadget. just wanna pay and use. pity.
i bought an iPhone5 a week ago, last night i looked at the edges carefully, unfortunately they are several notches and scratches on it. **** you Cupertino. **** you.
Apple should create a campaign, named : iHate!

Given iPad Mini sales are doing pretty good compare to those of the full size iPad with Retina; I don't think Apple is too concern. People are buying the low resolution 131 ppi screen resolutions still in good quantity. It seems that buyers don't solely buy based on who has the better technology; price, etc...
I sure the Nexus 7 will sell well; but it does not seem like it going to impact iPad Mini sales much since the first generation had a better screen resolution the iPad Mini and still the Mini sold well.
I saving up for the iPad Mini Retina; since it going to be very costly! I already have $900 saved and expect to spend $1,800 in the new Mini!
26. Kishin (Posts: 703; Member since: 30 May 2013)
I dont think it will cost that much, maybe around $400 to 500
U would not pay $1,800 unless u are millionaire.

Since is kind useless to address all the immature comments. If you don't like, or can't afford Apple devices, just don't buy them, simple. However, I'll tell you, I purchased the first Nexus 7 and it was a piece of junk; yes, initially it is was smooth, and then the slow downs. Don't even think for a moment this one is going to be any different. I guess is true, you get what you pay for.
