Apple is throwing down a media event on October 20th
Microsoft has been in the spotlight for the better portion of the last few days, which is only fitting since they're about to begin a new endeavor, but Apple appears to be chiming in on their parade.

The Cupertino based company will be holding an event on October 20th, one day before Windows Phone 7 is launched in Europe, where it looks as though they're going “Back to Mac.” Although it might not be all about the iPhone, the event is seemingly going to relate closely to the next iteration of OS X – which is made evident with the lion seen behind the Apple logo. Nonetheless, the tactic of holding the event one day prior to the competition launching their new mobile platform to the masses is surprising, but we never know what else can happen at such an event.

Although there are plenty of rumors regarding a Verizon bound iPhone, it would hardly be the event for such news to occur. Or maybe it'll be the perfect opportunity to slip some news regarding the elusive white iPhone 4 model? Regardless, one thing is surely definite with the event – it'll be all about Mac.

So what. Who cares if you're first. This isn't a race to see who can post the first comment on a new story.

I am far from an apple hater, but why the f*ck is this in phone arena? It has nothing to do with phones or phone accessories. This should be in meetgadget.

Nice to hear! I’m hoping we get some news not only on some new hardware for the Mac Pro, but some software updates for all the apps in Final Cut studio, especially a much needed update to DVD Studio Pro, then I don't need use the iFunia DVD ripping software and have a hard time. Some of us still author for optical media, not everything can be delivered via the web all the time. Chance for a native Blue-ray burner Apple? Ya, I know, I won’t hold my breath! Still, this is great news & I look forward to see what Cupertino has in store for 2011
