Apple is building its own Maps, but will it matter?

0. phoneArena 02 Nov 2011, 16:05 posted on

Apple has obviously been busy at work building its own map application to replace Google Maps on iOS, but what does Apple Maps need to be able to do, and when will we see it?...

Taco, we all get moderated a lot, especially you.

Of course, since you obviously get great enjoyment out of being hostile, once we leave, what would you have left to say? You need us.

As I said, Taco does take things too seriously at times, but I've always ended up having good interactions with him, even when he starts out a little too fired up. There are ways to have reasonable conversations with everyone, no matter how much you disagree. It's a lesson not often learned on the net.

at times.. your talking 90% of the time. Yes, for a while he was acting better and actually making productive chatter more than flame trolling.. that time was a short stint and the bulk of everything he does is just trolling the threads saying crap to get a rise out of people. Everyone does it from time to time, but that is gallito and his purpose on the thread.
Any points that he does actually have normally get drowned out by all the stupidity that he says otherwise.
He doesnt contribute a darn thing.. not knowledge, never answers a question helpfully, nor can hold a random conversation without acting retarded most of the time. The only thing he contributes are site hits by people coming to watch what stupid things he says and yell at him. Again, which is why i think he hasnt been actually banned... especially with the heavy modding hand thats starting to come around the forum.

That's a good idea. It's strange to have google maps on IOS device. It will take them some time to finish it. But knowing Apple, when they complete it, it will be sth special.
Maybe sth which could be as good as Nokia Maps...and working offline.
On the other side, Apple and those stupid restrictions...

I hope your not as foolish as you look right now....you would allow yourself to be blinded by your own love of Google to get rid of the only 'true' competition that stands between Google becoming a monopoly (Win Phone7 is a joke). Sad indeed...and Android fans constantly brag about the low cost of their devices but with competition gone it will NOT stay that way.

or "taco vs the rest"

I don't get that kind of articles. There are useles.. of course that it WILL matter.
For applefans for example.
Maybe not this year, but next 6 or 12 months it can evolve to something really interesting.
There is always room for innovations.
There are two good map apps.
Nokia Maps (which can work in offline which is a huge advantage) and google maps for android.
Why not create third one and let customers choose?
There is a group of clients which are looking at that kinds of apps. For me, phone without good maps or camera is useless, because I use it in daily basis.
So...go Apple! Only don't copy/paste others solutions:]
