Apple iPhone top smartphone in UAE, but Nokia leads among all handsets in the region

In the oil drenched UAE, one of the richest regions in the world, smartphones represented 51% of the mobile handsets registered on UAE networks. That represented a gain of 10% last year and 5% in the fourth quarter alone. The top smartphone in the area, with 3% of the total registrations, is the Apple iPhone 5. On the heels of the iPhone 5 is the Samsung Galaxy S III with a 2.6% share of activations...

Nobody is anywhere yet, feature phones and low end smartphones are still fairly entrenched. This being because now a large majority of the population are migrant workers. It'll take a while still for the smartphone segment to mature.

Nokia is winning in feature phones. That's not there smartphones. Considering they only sold 30 million Lumia's for all of 2013.

These are just Nokia's basic feature phones. They are not Nokia's smartphones.

I been to Dubai , true that the iPhone 5 is the most popular phone while GS3 is quite popular too but not as popular . I think of all the people I met there I am the only one with the note 3

I'm from UAE and yes it's true IPhone the most popular and this list of the best selling phones over here .
1- IPhone 5,5S
2- Note3
3- Nexus 5
4- HTC one
5- Lumia 1520
6- Sony Xperia Z1
7- BBZ10
8- Xperia Z ultra
9- Galaxy S4
10- LG G2?! Don't know why cause it's better phone than Galaxy S4!
