Iranians may soon get their first look at the Apple iPhone as the U.S. on Friday eased restrictions on the exporting of communication equipment, including mobile phones. to Iran; the relaxing of the ban is being done in an effort to promote the political freedom of Iranians as Tehran tries to silence its citizens. The U.S.had tightened the ban in an effort to get Iran to stop developing nuclear weapons...

Dude, read the last sentence.
"Last June, a woman at an Apple Store in Georgia was not allowed to purchase an Apple iPhone and an Apple iPad after a sales clerk heard her talking to her Uncle in Farsi."

This is called RACIST, that clerk should be fired.

Sorry, I understand where you are coming from, but they were Government regulations enforced by the Government. Yes it is VERY racist, but bureaucracy and the law has to come first, especially for a company like Apple which doesn't want to get on the bad side of the law. Thank god America has lifted these bans and regulations! A single store clerk does not represent Apples ideals and motives, that was a simple f**k up by an employee. Why wouldn't any big technology company turn down a purchase?!

When an Iranian American was not allowed to purchase something because of them being Iranian descent, yes, it is racist. When Apple can't sell iPhone in Iran, that's government policy.

It's not based on race, go look into "dual use technology" to understand why the US limits exports of certain goods to some countries/regions.

There are a LOT of rules regarding what is/isn't an "export" and if those people were going to take the device back to a country where that export is banned, Apple would have broken the law if they knowingly sold the device. I have to go through training on this every year... there is more to it than meets the eye.

it's not just apple that has to enforce these regulations, although I couldn't agree with you more on the fact that the clerk acted totally wrong, but hey it's not just Apple that is enforcing these rules into their business, a good example would be World of Warcraft, we've playing wow since it came out but suddenly Blizzard decided to ban all the accounts from Iran, with no refund. I'm pretty sure Blizzard itself doesn't hate Iranians as a race but mostly they do had to do it. Now explain to me the relation between playing games and political issues. :)

You're right, Iran's government decided to ban the game because some of the missions took place in Iran and they didn't like it or they considered it as an e-attack on Iran (I can't express how stupid it is imo, they also made a crappy game similar to BF3 taking missions in US :))) ). But my point is, I'm not trying to defend neither the companies who enforce these regulations or governments which were involved making them , but those companies kinda have to do it otherwise they'll end on the bad side of the law, not all companies can stick to their own policies the same as LG & Samsung did toward Iran.

Sadly Politics and the law have not caught up with the technology revolution. It makes it really hard for all companies (in the world of the internet/technology) too account for certain countries. Its hard for the good honest law abiding people of Iran.

Brother please do not curse
Our nation is a nation completely individuated well., You ever come to Iran for one week, then you know that I think a big mistake in our case above. Unfortunately, all people in the world think the Iranian people a lot., But if the time come ye, and our guests did, then you know I've been completely wrong. both know that Iranians are the most intelligent people in the world., only issues to be resolved is that you will become the most influential country in the world.
Science and technology in the field of technology and medical science. These Westerners are you are constantly at war and encroachment., I am proud of my country I know the best country in the world. Then we ate our food with a spoon, you ate with its hands., we're not stupid. stupid fool is someone who say stupid to people

Who said Iranians were stupid? Being Westerner, I side with my views. Iran is an intelligent country that is prospering. But with the development of nuclear weapons and threatening America is a step too far. Not saying America is any better, they have enough domestic problems. But America, The UN and Western Society to be against Iran can make sense. Many countries seek to misuse nuclear science and use this science for Weapons of Mass destruction, the world has decided we dont want this anymore.

Also (sorry for the off topic posts PA) but Western countries are far from stupid. Democracy, freedom of speech, freedom of expression, developed living standards, uncorrupt government. We have adopted these better, fairs ways of life. Most of the Middle East, Africa and South America are at war, domestic problems, corruption, large crime, low living standards, etc.

Iranians are no different than anyone else bro. There's good and bad people in all races, all you can do is be the best person you can be. People will judge you no matter what you do, so why stress. I carry myself with class dignity, and professionalism at all times, yet due to my skin color here in America I'm constantly judged. Oh well...be Iranian and proud.

It annoys me so much that still people in free, developed, democratic societies still look down on people of a certain colour! Its horrible! Why should people oppress, segregate, look down and even mistreat people because of colour, race, religion, cultural beliefs and sexuality! Its absolutely wrong! We must accept everyone!

I agree with you 100%. It's the world we live in though, people are programmed by tv, their parents, and society in general. I've been treated the same way that that lady was treated by the apple employee. That person should've been fired, growing up in the USA I've been called every racial slur there is, but its doesn't shape the person I am. My childhood best friend is white, and he's had racism directed at him just for being with me. People are ignorant, stupid, and simple minded, dismiss them and continue on your path bro...if not then you risk becoming like them. To discriminate based on those things is wrong, but its reality, and reality is what we much prepare for and face.

Exactly! In fact as an Iranian who travels to other middle east countries regularly, I can confirm any smartphone that reaches UAE, will be available in Iran after 3 days! Irrespective of what the manufacturer or US wants :-) you can actually get phones that have been released just for USA or east Asia also! (Such as HTC butterfly)
