Akeel i had to face the same prob but it's solved in mine....first of all download the app battery doctor..it's the best app....what it actually does is increase the battery life..whenever u plug ur apple device, don't forget to open up the app....and click on recharge which is next to status rest the app will do and after finish charge it will give u sound means charging is done plus you will get additional info from the app how u can increase the battery life...
And about getting device hotter it happened to me also, but dnt worry as the processor is fast when we worked it would get hot..so dont worry about it nothing will happen..stay cool...

The battery drain on my ipad is SOOOOO BAAAD that from 100% to the first "battery low" warning is about one hour if I am lucky, and that is with or without continuous use. I turn off the 4G radio, the wifi radio, i remove all apps from memory, and it takes well over 3 hours to fully charge. It was working fine until recently, when it took a nose dive. It is running version 6.1.3.
