Apple iPhone 6 concept video: 4.5 inch screen, no home button

0. phoneArena 14 Apr 2013, 18:38 posted on

Designer Ran Avni has released a video showing off his concept of what the Apple iPhone 6 should look like based on what he sees as the next iteration of the Cupertino company's iconic smartphone; Avni has kept the same design from the Apple iPhone 5 but has stretched the screen to 4.5 inches and has it available in black or aluminum...

Much better looking than the current model, has a very modern look to it without the home button.

That size, along with the typically great materials and builds, an screaming A7, and a de-skeumorphing of the OS would make for a monster of a device.

The home button is the easiest way that I can tell if its an iPhone, without the trade mark home button it looks like some other phone.

No it doesn't, and that's a weak attempt to bash.

No, he is actually just as ignorant, offensive, and unlikable IRL so he has no friends or family. Trolling PA is the only thing keeping him from eatiing a bullet and ending the sad cartoon drama that passes for his "life".

Firstly I agreed with you, then I realized that most of the iPhones I've seen are in cases.

Actually, Apple is going to use a flatter home button (like what Sammy is currently using on the GS III/IV and Note (there may be others, but I have experience with the GS III and Note II). Has Sammy filed a design patent on the oval home button?

Absolutely gorgeous, that design with a revamped ios7 would simply rock. C'mon apple give us something shocking/innovating this year. Whenever apple needs a hit, they deliver a hit...hey apple... It's the bottom of the 9th, youre home, down to your last strike, you're down by 2 runs, you got runners at the corners, the batter hitting 329, you need a hit... Better yet a walk off shot to center.

It does look sick however I don't see a revamp coming in till the iphone 6. I'm really happy where the iphone is right now and don't see anything huge they need to improve right now. ios 7 needs to be good though and that is where they are going to deliver.

+1 bio. I think software should be the main focus this year, but I wouldn't mind being shocked, and awed with some cool hardware bro.

I think the back design of this concept crap, I like the 2 tone back of the iPhone 5 far more. Also I really like the iPhone 5's chamfered edges as well.

Whats the point of concept videos? It's the same UI every year.Even if Apple designers are watching this video, they will never or cannot design phones like what Sony Xperia designers design. Sony's design are the best but the custom software (android)makes them worse and put behind Samsung Galaxy line of phones.

Sure they could design them, they could design a planet if they wanted. It's more of a question of would/will they.

That's the big question. Personally I think the phone itself isn't going to change this next iteration, they'll save the one after for something like this so they can increase screen size without making a big phone.

They do need something big with iOS 7 though, but even if it involves a cosmetic overhaul as a launching pad for iOS 8, it's a step in the right direction. Making radical changes to an OS isn't an easy task, but getting it more standardized across all aspects would be the logical next step. Long term though, it needs more functionality. Apple needs to step that up, but they'll be selling iRadio in the meantime so it'll give them some time to work on it.

One thing Apple did that deserves credit is how the OS ignores edge touches on the iPad Mini. With that built into iOS, bezel free phones are the next logical step. Samsung made a smaller phone with a bigger screen in the S4, Apple needs that too. Apple needs to get out of their comfort zones and start bringing back the wow factor.

Concept vids are really cool but I doubt that this is close to reality. Looks awesome though. The iPhone 5s will most likely sport the same design but I have high hopes for iOS 7. Should be awesome as ios 5 was.
