In other words - "I will do that just because I have money." sounds very "reasonable"...

Or, for the same price he could get an Android flagship that is more flexible and functional

I wonder if the 5c will see a boost around Christmas with parents buying their children new phones. I seriously feel like the 5c should be marketed toward the growing 10-15 year olds who have smart phones. They get the personalization of fun colors, they don't need that processing power, they still get an iphone for prestige sake, apple has a chance to create super young fanboys for years to come, and their parents save 100 bucks during holidays.

or replace that ipod touch generation which is that same age group. Good point!
since some places sell them for $50 on contract no need to spend $200 on an ipod right?

I don't think so.

If there is at least a smallest chance with 10 year old kids then there definitely no chance with 15 year and older kids\teenagers. The will not wan't 5C.

My ten year old step sister has a 4s, I'm pretty sure there are plenty of adults who have it too. The point is that entire age group cares about personalization, not necessarily prestige, and if their parents are unwilling to give them a $200 phone, that's the choice they would have

Lol I love how some of these comments just generalize stuff. Well im a 37 year old guy & I quite dig my blue 5C . Im pretty new to iphone. My sister got a green one shes in her thirties loves it as well. :) Just because were not "kids" doesn't mean you can have a bit of fun with colors for devices.

I'm not saying that adults don't have fun with it, I have two friends who have the 5c in college, I'm just curious, based on my experience selling phones and the fact that I got my first cell phone for Christmas when I was 12, if there will be a stronger boost for the 5c around Christmas versus the 5s because of that demographic

My point was that teens more care about the trend than kids and trend followers always buys more expensive product, they don't want to buy iPhone which is marked as "cheap". According to such people cheap is not cool and it is not good device if you want just to show off. Maybe in U.S. iPhone is just a phone, but in the rest of the world iPhone is part of show off thing (in most cases).

What bugs me about the 5S/5C is that in adding all those fancy colors they've actually *limited* my choices. In other words, if I wanted to buy a new IPhone but didn't want or need the 64-bit chip or fingerprint scanner and wanted to save some coin, I'm pretty much limited to the Hello-Kitty neon colors of the 5C. If I want an IPhone that looks like something an actual grownup would use, I'm forced to buy the high-end 5S. Where is the IPhone with the midrange specs that doesn't look like a kids toy? Oh yes, the IPhone 5. But you can't buy them new anymore, can you? If so, where?

Well I prefer the pastic lol. 5C is bit more comfortable in the hand as well. Plus the deal I got on it & it will still hold its resale value. I really cant complain to much.

Whatever ones view is regarding the 5c it still remains a premium well made device, but made somewhat irrelevant due to its price point perhaps the iPhone 5 was the natural choice as a cheaper alternative to the flagship 5s.

i wonder what apple's gonna do next year? will we see a 5CS? will they make the iPhone 6 premium no neon color variation and put a finger print scanner on the 5C while giving it the 5S specs?
or will they do away with the colors and drop the price of the 5S when the iPhone 6 comes out?

I only know one person who does not have a cover of some kind on his or her iPhone..
So who cares what color the phone actually is anyway...
I run a plain old now discontinued 5...nice old fashioned white one with a black Morphie battery case...
But Unless things change and apple opens things up a bit it will be my last iPhone...

why wouldn't the iPhone 5S outsell the 5C? the 5C is viewed as just a 5 w/color options as the 5S is viewed as a true upgrade. not sure why anyone is surprised by these results.
