coz most people dont look at specs. they look at the brand and performance and price. to the average joe the 5c appears to perform exactly the same as the 5s with less price and more colour options.
If it wasnt for the fingerprint scanner, the 5c would sell more than 5s. the ifans i know personally use it for every argument as a trump card against android phones, however practically useless it might be. one of them said and i quote "is any company more technologically advanced than apple and have a fingerprint scanner?" my reply:"b!tch plz, moto atrix, although it doesnt change the fact that its not worth that much money" and then i take the argument to OS features rather than hardware. Easy win

No - not at all. The fingerprint scanner is cool but isn't the reason people prefer the 5S. Users prefer the 5S because it feels and looks like a sexier, more stylish product. Apple fans don't want plastic on Apple. They go to Apple because of the quality (notice I didn't say performance, so don't even try) that comes with it.

You don't understand much PAU. Apple did exactly right with the pricing because people buy the more expensive 5s two times more than the cheaper 5c. Obviously, the pricing of the 5c was designed to not affect the 5S sales. The strategy worked out!

You didn't understood point of my comment!

"Apple did exactly right with the pricing because people buy the more expensive 5s two times more than the cheaper 5c."

Nonsense! Do you realize that the same effect Apple could achieve and without 5C ?
People don't want 5C because it is marked as "cheap" so the buy 5S. But people would be buying 5S even if 5C didn't exist becaus then ther would be only one choice 5S.

My point was that such trend followers always buys more expensive product and it doesn't matter even if it is worse than other cheaper products because according to their logics more expensive is always better even if it is not true becaue with more expensive [product is easier to show off.

So, how come that the iPod Nano has become the most popular iPod? The original iPod (now iPod touch) offers much more functionality and is way more expansive than the iPod Nano. Your argumentation can't explain that effect. If you were right, the iPod Touch would be the most popular iPod....but that is not the case.....so you are wrong.

well, the fans that ive asked NEVER mention the build materials. They just prefer the aesthetics of iOS over android and are still in the delusion that iOS has more apps. almost all of them have bad experiences with android, which i find out is always due to them being average midrange phones, almost always by samsung (oh the irony) that have horrible touch response. Fingerprint scanner IS the main reason why the upgrade to the new iphone, otherwise they would buy the i5 than 5c if it were build materials.

You may not realize it, but you just explained why people love Apple. "almost all of them have bad experiences with android, which i find out is always due to them being average midrange phones". This is NEVER an issue with Apple. When you buy a Mac, iPad or iPhone, you're buying guaranteed top notch quality. There are no high-end, low-end choices (well the 5c, which is why it's failing), so you know what you're getting every time! People hear how amazing Android is, buy a mid-range phone, and it's rubbish. People don't buy the 5S because of a feature like the finger print scanner - if they really cared about features they'd already be on Android. They love Apple becuase no matter what Apple product you purchase, it works flawlessly.

Actually, Snapdragon 800 (e.g. Note 3, Z1, Z Ultra,...) beat the iPhone 5S in CPU benchmarks, such as Geekbench and Linpack.

The iPhone 5S only beat the Snapdragon 800 on browser benchmarks, such as Sunspider and Browsermark.

It isn't just the shafting tactic that's causing this, it is also because most people try to get their favorite phone at release. And for most of the high end buyers, they try to align it with release every year. The low end buyers come in the following weeks and months and quarters as shown by previous years where the iPhone 5 was outsold by the low end immediately following the release quarter. So if the 5s can hold itself through the next quarter, then Apple will have learned that shafting tactics work and will likely reinforce it. If it doesn't then hopefully they go back to adding value like everyone else.

The Apple 'partners' had no say in the quantity of 5Cheap units they were sold by Apple. Look for future orders to tank. The 5Cheap is just not a compelling value proposition. Maybe once the supply of iP5 units is exhausted, the 5Cheap becomes viable. But not until then.

The 5C has better specs than the iPhone 5, a simple fact lost on people like D_x_D.

With iPhone 5, you have a better design, materials, etc than the 5C, but Apple made enough changes such that for the SAME PRICE, people will be tempted to choose the improved features over last year's handset.

One more thing lost on people like D_x_D, you get the iWork suite for free -- that's right, free productivity apps with the 5C.

I haven't seen where the 5Cheap has superior specs than the 5. If iWork is important to you, then feel free to buy the 5Cheap. But somehow, I suspect that owners of iP5 phones can get iWork on their phones, if iWork is really important to them. iWork is not obsoleting all of the iP5 phones out there.

Please post what about the 5Cheap spec is superior to the iP5. The world waits with baited breath. BTW, a plastic case is NOT a superior spec.

Congrats to you, you have officially won the internet.

On a personal note, good luck in life. I've come to realize that with you, the only thing that matters is getting the victory. Conversations become conflicts, conflicts must become conquests. You can never admit when you're wrong and you always have to win, no matter what extreme it takes to achieve. Me, I can admit I was wrong and don't need to win every discussion because I see them for what they are, discussions. So with that, I bid you adieu. Life is too short to waste time on people who will never change because they have the whole world figured out and have all the answers.

I'm sure you'll view this as a victory, that's fine. Please feel free to cash in your +1 internet at whatever store you frequent.

The idea of an affordable smart phone is on point. The problem is the 5C isn't affordable (and hideous). Cheap products aren't Apple's game. They should have, and should moving forward, stick to high quality, fashionable products their massive fanbase desires.

D_x_D, that is your opinion. Apple's official story was that the 5 was not easy to scale as was the case with the 4S, 4, etc.

If you ask me, the 5C is Apple's new way to leverage a new market. For example, look to 2014 when Apple tries to introduce the iPhone 6 -- the 5S will drop to its position, and now you have the 5C being offered at rock bottom prices.

It will be a homerun for Apple to get a 5C for free or $49 in 2014. To get to those prices Apple needs a huge production run meaning it gets to produce the 5C for at least 2 years, thus further lowering their long term average cost curve via economies of scale and scope.

Therefore, it's clear to me you really don't understand the concept "cost to manufacture it." The parts cost is what you are hinting at because of the plastic shell, but the lowering of the long run cost curve is the biggie. That is one serious mf*ker competitive edge that Apple has over android OEMs.

For example, the processors are recycled or have long production runs, the 4" screen is being spread out over hundreds of millions of units, etc., etc. Android OEM cannot make this level of economies of scale and scope.

"The same can be said for Galaxy products then... hmmmm?"

No, because:

1. Android based smartphones (including Galaxy series products) are cheaper than iPhone.

2. People buys Android based smartphones not because they want look cool or trendy, but because of practical possibilities that Android based smartphones can give you. While majority of iPhone users buys iPhone just to show off.

the fact of both of our statements is that both phones are popular... so people buy them because they are popular.

we both know half of the people who buy the galaxy phones use those gimmicky features... same with iphone... most people probably wont turn on the fingerprint scanner.

samsung is a popular brand same as apple.

samsung is 70% gimmick features & 30% practical uses. in the world of popular/trendy phones it's well known that Samsung & Apple are top two in this category. you're in complete denial trying to justify Samsung as a non-trendy phone.

ppl buy iPhones for 1 of 2 reasons...either a: b/c they have had too many bad exp. w/Android that they are sick of the OS (which is what i see more of) & b: most ppl can grasp the UI.
