Apple iPhone 5s and Apple iPhone 5c monopolize Japanese sales charts

Never has a sales chart seen such domination. No, we're not talking about One Direction, Fifth Harmony or any of the other groups put together by Simon Cowell that have seemingly leaped from the X Factor stage to world-wide stardom. Where actually talking about smartphones here. More precisely, we are looking at the way that the Apple iPhone 5s and Apple iPhone 5c have commanded the smartphone sales charts in Japan...

Japan is a society where people do what other people do. That is one of the reasons why iPhones do so well is because everyone else owns one. They really follow the herd mentality. They like to do the same things other people do. If something is popular with the group, they all do it.

which "no herd mentality" society u live in?i bet its a society where people play with custom rom, customize launcher, benchmark apps, digging menu setting,do christmas wallpaper the whole time and not working to be productive
nono, you just doing what the 80% of android users in the world, buying what 80% of smartphone user buy,its not "herd" mentality
speaking of herd mentality, that the society u stereotyped just so happened to be some of the most productive nation in the world

Yea give it another 3 years and your iPhones will have every feautres what Android has.
Wow look, it has notifications, slides down, next you can modify your device.
So you are telling me you can't alter or tinker the device you own?
You buy a PC, you can modify..
You buy a car, you can modify...
You buy a Laptop, You can modify....
But altering your device is not. What a weird theory of yours.
You more like jealous.
You don't like options, but prefer restrictions.... ?

i guess thats why you are not productive, too occupied "modify" your stuff
i also guess thats why most productive top worker uses a mac (even google team) for their job
i like option, that's why i have both iphone and nexus, both are my options.
only android fans doesn't have an option, they can only buy android, and constantly curse, restrict people from having the option to choose other platform. Irony is,this are from the people who bang on no restriction and option

And here you are judging someone else for not being productive while defending your beloved brand.

As if you knew Japan!
It's all about trust. Japanese people don't recommend something to their friends unless it's REALLY good.
In other words, if someone trustworthy tells them something good about a product, they assume it's really that good.
Do you know how the Japanese call someone who HAS TO tweak / customize everything, everyday?
Otaku - A specialist in wasting time on specializing himself in unproductive things.
Don't talk about manga / anime with Japanese people around you. They'll think you to be an Otaku and keep distance from you.
Android has a bad reputation in Japan for being an Otaku item. It's the perfect playground for them, to tell the truth.
Thanks to Sammy - The original Galaxy S launched in Japan with a dedicated chip for 1080p decoding, exclusively for the Japanese market.
All the Otakus ran to Akihabara and purchased GS + terabytes of microSD cards.
Finally, finally they could watch the favorite scenes from their favorite anime over and over without alerting "normal" people around them.
And it seems there are plenty of Androtakus in PA. They seem to love tweaking, changing widgets, flashing custom ROMs, etc.
And they call it freedom!
In my book, this kind of unproductive activities is pure waste of time.
PS : I believe vast majority of Japanese population is smarter than you.

Funny you have an avatar of Cynageon Mod, and you criticism is on others who Mods. You are a developer you'r self... and you know lot about programing....

PA grants me the freedom of choosing an avatar at my own will.
The fact that I work on Android doesn't require me liking it. That's also freedom.
Google sacrificed too much performance / efficiency in favor of robustness with Android IMO, Java being the shining example. That's what I don't like.
Mods are interesting, but people should be aware that they aren't by any mean the deciding factor for vast majority of users. That's what I'm talking about.

"In my book, this kind of unproductive activities is pure waste of time."
Says the guy posting mostly BS on a website comments section. For a guy who unreasonably criticizes an OS for being a waste of time, you sure waste a lot of time on here.

1. Japanese are very quality aware. All the small unpolished corners here and there around Android are simply unacceptable for them. Craftmanship is what Apple excels at in contrast.
2. Japanese carriers love charging people, even more than US ones.
It in return means that they can offer pretty much every phone for free on contract, even the most recent iPhones.
What's happening in Japan is simple to explain :
People want sophisticated products, and the price doesn't matter.
Android's greatest weakness is exposed, and its greatest strength is spoiled.

Talking about japanese this japanese that, are you even an asian?
78. AntiFanBoyz (Posts: 130; Member since: 30 Nov 2013)
Japanese have a stronger communal nature than many other cultures. I've been to Tokyo and there could be two restaurants of equal quality right next door to each other, and Japanese will flock to which ever one has the longest line. Japanese will go along with the crowd even of it means sacrificing other things like price or convenience. Source: I'm Japanese and proud of it.
