Apple iPhone 5c rises from the dead, outsells Android flagships, Windows Phone and more in Q4?

0. phoneArena 24 Mar 2014, 02:06 posted on

According to sales numbers computed by multiple sources, the Apple iPhone 5c sold 12.8 million units in the fourth quarter of last year. Apple sold 51 million iPhones in that three month period, a mere 4 million behind expectations which resulted in the stock getting spanked. But based on these same sources, the Apple iPhone 5s sold 31.9 million units with 6.4 million attributed to the Apple iPhone 4s...

Really!!! people are dumb enough to buy the cheaply made iPhone 5c when you can get the all aluminum iPhone 5 for the same price, who ever crunch up these sales numbers did it after a night at the bar lol.

Not really for myself. I never hold any value for articles where there is so much speculation on what might have been, better to wait for actual figures.

Not sure if it's sad or comical so many people getting upset because of this much speculation though.

The numbers stated in this article clearly contradict the numbers stated in the linked article. No numbers for December in there, but it still doesn't make any sense.

Well considering the numbers in this article include the numbers for december and the one you linked doesn't, that could be why it contradicts this article. This is an UPDATED set of numbers that include the entire 4th quarter, so obviously the numbers would have changed from the article you linked. Seems to make sense to me. There seem to be a lot of mad/sad ppl on here like Sauce said. Don't know why so many ppl are butt hurt that the iPhone sold so well. Does it affect your lives in some way? I use an iPhone 5S but i don't go whining and citing conspiracies or that the numbers are fake when samsung or anyone else sells a boatload of phones. Grow up ppl.

I'm not whining & it doesn't affect me in any way. I just don't see how it's possible that the 5c outsold the S4 when the S4 outsold it in October, November, January, & February. Is it possible that the 5c did phenomenally well in December? Sure. Would that have been enough to outsell the S4 during that period? I doubt it.

Nothing too special. My name is Gabe. My favorite number is 25, but I needed a 3-digit number to splice into my name, hence the zero. That's all.

Official numbers were released, and it confirms that the 5C did intact outsell the S4 in december, as well as other Android Flagships, All WPs, and all BB (but who cares).

That's quite a figure to rake up. However, the general public impression and the numbers doesn't quite fit in. I successfully convinced 3 of my friends to buy the Iphone 5S rather than the 5c ( their first Iphones ). And 5S is way better than 5c, if you are only looking at IOS.

Hate towards Apple has existed since the beggining of time (iphone?), this unrelenting hate expressed by tech geeks and forums has predicted failure with every product release by Apple. The iphone 5c was indeed a second best selling smartphone Q4 after the 5S

Here is why I doubt this story. Just two weeks ago I got an email from Verizon offering to let me upgrade 6 months early with a free iPhone 5c. No way I get that offer if VZW doesn't have a s**t-ton of them sitting on shelves gathering dust.

Yes its all a conspiracy to cause an uproar with Apple haters. Wow, ppl really need to grow up. I think the ppl that compile these numbers know better than any of us on here how many of any phone sold in a quarter, considering it is their job to know and report on it. It is what it is, who cares...the iPhone sold very well, both the 5S and 5C. Im sure the GS5 will sell very well also, and i damn well bet there won't be near as many ppl questioning the numbers as there is on this article. Ppl are only questioning it because its Apple, nothing more.

I've seen 3 16GB iPhone 5C's owned by a few of my wife's friends. I look at it and think to myself "You paid $550 for this hunk of crap?" There are so many better phones to be had for so much less. Like let's say the 16GB Nexus 5 for $350.... That's a full $200 cheaper. How bout a 16GB Moto X for $400 or a 16GB Moto G for $200? No one said every iPhone buyer was smart with their money.

When you make an informed purchase on what you actually want, that's being smart with your money. You're the type that feels a person should buy what you consider to be a good product, real life doesn't work that way. Every one with a Benz coulda saved money by buying a Camry, but they bought what they worked to get. A smart purchase isn't only about what you save, it's about what you want and what makes you happy. What if a person doesn't like the G, or the nexus 5, what if they feel I attracted to this devices? What if they move had their heart set on a 5c, and saved for it, should they not get it cuz it cost more? Your post was very child like dude. People buy what they want, when they can afford it plain and simple. Maybe you're the dummy with your money, only buying based on price rather than what you actually want.

So everyone wants an Apple product but the only reason they get Android or WP is because they choose to save money? Not everyone gets a Mercedes, not because they can't afford it or want to save money, but maybe because they like something else. Your post kind of makes it sound like the only thing stopping everyone from owning an iPhone is the price. Like it or not, many see the iPhone as a status device. Everyone else has one so they need one as well.

I believe therein lies the problem with Android, with so many different OEMS, form factors, and sizes to choose from, it's not as easy to bring all the fans together as it would be with only one device, or two even. Up until last year you could always spot another iPhone user and if you bought them the same year, you had something in common.

But with Samsung, HTC, LG, Motorola, Sony, Huawei, ZTE, etc., it's less likely you're going to find someone else with the same device as you have. But that also gives you a greater opportunity to set yourself apart. You could get one in a different color, your home screen may look nothing like someone else's even though you have the same phone, etc.

The only thing that makes me wonder about the validity of this story is that only a few days ago, Apple was ready to come out with an 8GB 5c to try and salvage the situation. If this story is true, why would they need to do that? Another thing to keep in mind is that these aren't actual sales figures from Apple, but from multiple sources that may or may not be reliable. The previous story about them coming out with the 8GB version just doesn't jive with this story.

Just like samsung fanboys, Nokia fanboys, LG, etc. Don't single out only Apple fans, there are diehard fans of other brands, especially Samsung. Also darkk isn't one of those rabid fanboy types. You've hated on Apple before though, so i am not surprised by your comment singling out Apple as the only one having diehard fanboys.
