Verizon Wireless has blacked out vacations for all of its staff from September 21st until September 30th, and it doesn’t take a genius to guess that this means…

I will never go back to apple and I expect it to at least be par to what high end android devices are. Bigger display, 4g lte, nfc, quad core maybe... 12mp maybe.... Bigger battery.. leaving anything out.?

You are leaving out the major selling point, which is the overall user experience. Having experienced all of the current mobile OS's, I see no utility to your argument against Apple based solely on specs. I am still thriving with my iPhone 4 with its 2010 era specs. Since I got the iPhone 4, I've also tried out the EVO 3D, Droid Bionic, Rezound, and the Galaxy Nexus during multiple trial periods for each device. Not one of those devices gave me at least what the iPhone 4 gives me, which is iOS. I've also tried the Lumia 900, which, save for LTE and a larger screen, proves that those bloated specs aren't necessary for the vast majority of users to enjoy Windows Phone's user experience. My iP4's 5 MP camera performs better than any of the aforementioned devices' cameras and lasts longer. The other thing you are leaving out is that your experience and expectations are unique to you and you only and should not be projected on to others. If you feel that buying a bigger penis (multiple core CPUs, 12MP, bigger display) will satisfy your needs, then go for it, but don't be surprised if you're constantly finding that you're becoming dissatisfied a few months after getting your new device when something new comes out from Google towards the UX that your Android won't get due to carrier+OEM interference or Google's self-defeating approach to the OS as a whole in updating ALL devices regardless of OEM build or carrier apk configurations.

Nicely written response, and a fair point in terms of UX. However, I have a hunch that you didn't really compare the pictures from the Lumia 900 against your 4's on a decent monitor. Granted, it's no 808 PureView or N8, but with the exception of some low-light situations and close up (macro) shots, the Lumia 900's camera is superior to the 4's. That said, the 4S' camera is more comparable to the Lumia's, and has a few more edges on it, thanks to its excellent Sony camera

I'm a freelance photographer. What the hell are you talking about? I wouldn't compare ANY pictures from one device to another on the devices' screens. They are always compared on my Dell LED monitor. Not only does the iP4 walk circles around the Lumia 900 in daylight shots, it makes you completely forget about the Lumia 900's results in low-light conditions. The Lumia's camera is one of the worst cameras I've ever used on a smartphone. My BlackBerry Tour produced better image results in 8 side-by-side, same day comparison shots.

The mor i read this guys comment the more i see him contradict himself. First off what carrier do you have where you can have a rezound and a lumnia are your lying about what youve tried or keep changing providers. And all those souped up numbers your talking about are what makes your phone better. And if you want a better camera try any android with ICS with zero shutter speed the pics on my razr and now my sgs3 blow away any iphone pic i ever seen sorry. plus all the free apps to change the pics and diferent ways to back them up over just icloud.
Saying your blackberyy tour had better pics i know you have no clue what your talking about. sorry bro

Only real problem with this argument is the same as Apple advertises except iOS.
If you don't have an iPhone, well, you don't have an iPhone.
A bit close minded there?
26. RealRapRaw posted on 23 Aug 2012, 07:37 1 1
close minded? Re-read my comments. I've used devices other than iOS. Later porky.
27. p0rkguy posted on 23 Aug 2012, 11:29 2 2
And I've drank Pepsi when Coca Cola was available when I prefer the taste of Coca Cola.
What's your point? Your argument is the same as their advertisements. Re-read your comment.
"Not one of those devices gave me at least what the iPhone 4 gives me, which is iOS."
Let me change it up a bit so a liberal arts major can understand, "If you don't have an iPhone, well, you don't have iOS."
Unless you can find other devices running iOS, then your point is invalid.
28. RealRapRaw posted on 23 Aug 2012, 11:55 1 0
Because I have a favorable take on the performance of the iP4's camera, how am I biased or in cahoots with Apple's marketing dept? The fact that the user experience, to me, is great compared to other devices is just the impression that iOS makes on me. No sh*t, it only comes on an iPhone or iPad!
It's not like I haven't lived with competing devices, but if you prefer the taste of Coca Cola and you have the choice between that and Pepsi, KNOWING what Pepsi is like compared to Coca Cola, you'd be the drop out liberal arts major who missed too many Western Philosophy sessions who in his finite wisdom settled for Pepsi. I'm gonna sign off on this thread by "agreeing to disagree" on grounds that you are inarticulately trying to argue some point, whatever it is, that you are just not arriving at.

Technically you can root your droid and flash it to have Ios but i still havent found an android user that would do this and dumb down there phone other they the fact that they can fool apple fans into thinking they have a new iphone that isnt released yet to the public lol

Their ad should have read:
If you don't have an iPhone, well, you don't have an iPhone and you don't need an iPhone.

Bro iam happy your thriving with your Iphone. I was too with my. 4 and 4s, but finally decided to try out android. I will agree with you that ios is a much better ui, but you can't deny Google as been stepping it. From froyo to gingerbread to ice cream sandwich. Google is on the right track with their ui. Just don't be getting at me like I am some fandroid or something. I've been all ios until recently. So keep thriving broski!

Thumbs up to you, Android4u. I agree, Jelly Bean is truly butter! It's just difficult to go all in on an ecosystem that has too many intermittent hiccups from poor carrier+OEM+Google support. If something goes wrong or is underdeveloped on any device, whether it be Google's own Nexus devices or 3rd party layered Android devices, the end user suffers until ALL THREE players coalesce, unless the device is a Nexus series and is unlocked. While those are things happening in the background, if you know about these things, it really can ruin the user experience, which is more than just the UI. I really would have preferred to be able to use both iOS and Android 4.x.x, but I pay for apps, and I'm not paying for apps housed in a poorly structured ecosystem. I do hope you continue to enjoy it how you do, though.

Wow realrapraw your a quick one of course none of those devices gave you Ios Ios is something no android user wants and is made by apple so only apple will only ever have it lol. I'm replying to iami67's comment only because the question that he asks represents the number one question that I ask myself. My experience, for reference, is with the iPhone 2g, iPhone 3g, galaxy s (Verizon), and droid x (Verizon). The phone that I liked the least is definitely the galaxy s. The phone was locked on to Bing searches and buggy when charging the phone (went through two of them and both eventually developed the same bug). The Droid x is, by far, my favorite android phone, which happens to be the phone that I bought after being disappointed with the iPhone 4s performance specs. Now I am waiting, for an iPhone that upgrades to some of the features that I love on android like free turn by turn directions with an awesome speech analyzer on a phone that isn't immediately outdated when compared to android phones that are released several months before its launch similar to what happened when the iPhone 4s launched. The absolute most important feature with any phone that I buy is the money or cost. How often do I need to upgrade my phone to keep up with a more current version of the phone's OS? If you know anything about the two OS's for these phones and have experience owning android AND iPhone for more than two years each, you will see where I'm headed with this comment. If the new iPhone is not another "refresh", but an iPhone that can compete with some of the current top android phones, then this will be worth looking at in my opinion. IOS offers one important difference, free upgrades when a new OS is released on older phones. My iPhone 3g (not 3gs) was up-gradable to the same IOS that the iPhone 4 released with. At the time, I was fed up with at&t. This is what made me choose Verizon (before the iPhone 4 was released for the network). In summing up my point, the most important feature, for me, is the money I have to spend in order to use the current OS, and this is where Apple has a clear advantage.
Biggest question I have: Will the new phone be enough of an upgrade? This is a personal question that pertains to your own definition of what "enough" actually is.
I care more about the longevity any product that I buy, and also need current versions of an OS for testing. As a software engineer that manages a team that develops online and mobile applications, testing with a current OS becomes very important.

i have to do a survey of my school to see why people get the iphone. then ask questions to see if apple truly brainwashes everyone. idk something like, who creates the a5 chips or what screen resolution is better bw an iphone and some other android phone.

if people answer wrong it doesnt mean they are brainwashed. It means they dont care about tech like people on this site do, and only answer based on what they know.

Much like the jury who didn't care about what the other side was trying to say or was saying ... they just went by the "Logo" and the "Name" :)

Do people even know what Jellybean is? A lot of people don't even know the name of their device. All some know is "Droid" not even Android.

well actually it depends on your choice... if you want verified apps and use your phone as a status symbol, better buy iPhone...if you want loads of apps, hack your phone better buy an android device... if you dont really do anything but want to stay connected better buy a BlackBerry phone... if you want uniqueness better buy a nokia lumia...

I've got an iPhone 3GS and I'm planning on getting a S3, but I feel I'd be making a huge mistake if I didn't wait until the new iPhone announcement just to be on the safe side.
I see that the usual Apple v Android debate has appeared. Why can't people just let other people get the product they like without trying to belittle them and act superior to them? I like Apple and Android and I have a PS3 and 360. It is possible to like both and not take sides.

Best to wait until October or November then, with all the pre-holiday specials and end-of-year phone launches... Note 2, more Androids with Jelly Bean out of the box, Windows Phone 8... good time to be a cell phone shopper

I own an s3, its an awesome phone but definitly wait till the iphone 5 just to make sure you arent going to regret it... the s3 has alot of amazing features though to be honest but i say wait it out and see

I came from ios to the s3 and to tell you the truth. Android can definitely be frustrating at times. It is definitely a lot more complicated with all the features. And one of the main reasons I got android was so I could have flash support. Apparently I had horrible timing because it was barely taken off the market for preparation for html5. I also hate how if you get free applications, they are able to stick ads in my notifications bar. But it does seem like media, Internet sites, and basic use is faster. So Idk which one I like more?
20. guamzson posted on 22 Aug 2012, 09:30 2 0
I admit i am very excited to see the iphone 5... but this iphone better trully be the most innovative one yet.... yes we know there will be 4g LTE in it, a bigger screen, better Siri, iwallet or whatever its called for NFC, and of course a new a6 or a5 chip... but if thats all we are getting in this new iphone im not at all impressed...
I currently just got my s3 and i have to say this is by far the best phone ive had since my iphone 4s...
Yes many can argue about user experience, but i think that just comes down to whether you are smart enough to use a smartphone... almost all smartphones are the same, i mean seriously web browsers, contact books, texting, cameras, and others... to say the iphone doesnt have issues is to be kidding yourself. In the end it comes down to user experience and getting the best bang for your buck... at this point if apple really does not give us that extra WOW factor other than what other phones already have well i just wont be impressed... of course alot of iphone lovers will stand behind their iphones because of the name but definitly not the technology behind it... nice iphone though lol

If i have to shell out $300+ more just to show off i would rather pefer to be wise with my money and spend that 300 elsewhere or give it to charity rather than donating to for evil purpose. Sony, Samsung, HTC all the way with a saving of $300+ for same functional utiulity.
