I am not buying iPhone 5. I played with iPhone 4 and honestly the only thing that I really liked about it was screen resolution. Other than that iPhone became boring for me. I find android devices much more fun to use and call quality is SO MUCH better. I know this is just my opinion, but I am sure many will support it.

While I think the survey is a bit off... it is also VERY telling...
Ok 35% want the new iphone...
Almost %50 of respondents said they want battery life, big screen and 4g...
iphone has battery life... ( I would assume iphone5 will be ok in this area)
iphone 5 will have a bigger screen, everyone is saying edge-to-edge on same chassis size as iphone 4... (how big is that?? seriously I don't know, as big as 4.3?)
iphone 5 wil have.... 3G...
So while most everyday consumers what the iphone 5, it will only meet 1 or 2 out of 3 of their highest wants.
Does this mean they KNOW iphone with be 3G and this is OK?
Do they know there are larger phones out there?
Do they think it will be 4G because that is all the rage this year?
I do NOT agree that if you put a iphone, Galaxy S, and Bionic side by side the customer will see "Night and Day" cause frankly that is NOT the case. They take pictures, surf facebook, play angry birds, txt and IM... Both can do those things with flying colors.
Chances are they will get what they are used to (previous android/iphone user) or what they are attracted to in a 5 min demo which does not show off EITHER OS/phone properly.
What you WILL see with a customer comparison, is a % (not a massive %) of people coming in thinking they want an iphone and choosing an android phone. Mainly cause they just don't know the quality of the competition, and obviously price and form factor options as well. They literally know only iphone and think android is just a cheap generic option (I think android hardware has gotten a ton better in the last 2 years, especially style-wise).

Actually, dandirk, everything you say makes total sense. If you walk into your local Verizon store, and all these devices are out, will you have a sales rep who will walk you through the in's and out's of the devices? Ask you what you need or prefer? If not, they will steer you to what they prefer or what will push their paycheck better (I would, being truthful). The iPhone has the best brand associated with it. Anyone with only a basic knowledge would associate it with a great device. My co-worker has an iPhone 3G that I have played with to help him get it set up. He loves it, and knows nothing about any other device, and could care less. My wife has given me a list of things she wants in her next device, and completely trusts me to pick her next phone. She could care less. If these two were polled as to their next phone, would their response be educated? Or just the name of the device they have heard the most of?

I find it funny how people who say Android is for poor people, but 80% of iPhone owners are on a family plan and can't afford the own plan because at&t wants to much money for a security deposite and can't afford a plan over $100. But I like most of Android users pay $200 for Android devices which cost the same amount for a iPhone. IPhone that is $300 only has more memory but for less then $65 you can get a 32gb card so with a phone with 8-32 GB built in for $200 plus a 32gb card is still half the price the higher storage iPhone is. Sorry but THOSE are true facts and it only blinds the uneducated iPhone users who don't know how to count. I paid full price for my EVO 4g, so how does that make Android for poor people when again most iPhone users are on a family plan because they can't afford to pay for their own plan but yet still say Android is for poor people.

Does your precious iPhone have 4G? HSPA+? No. You're most likely on AT&T, the king of dropped calls. How ironic you should even chime in about that...
Boost and Virgin Mobile are not for the poor, but their target customers are those who don't want a pricey plan and\or a contract, regardless of their personal financial situation. Is this what you meant by "poor" people?

80 a month all you can eat buffet same as going to hometown buffet for $10 all you can eat. Sure the food is crap but you can have as much as you want. I have a Verizon iPhone. Best network and best phone. I feel sorry for you. Maybe your financial situation will improve so you can afford a better carrier.
84. wumberpeb posted on 25 Jul 2011, 18:12 2 0
So by your analogy, the quality of my signal is inferior to yours on Verizon? Try to rethink that one, possibly incorporating something along the lines of signal strength. Then it would make more sense...
Meanwhile, you're paying more for merely wearing the crown of "Having the Best Network." Makes a lot of sense, I'm sure. So that gets you, what? Better coverage in the middle of a lake or on top of a mountain, right? Congrats on that.
And my apologies for assuming you were on AT&T. I simply saw that your previous phone was the 3GS.
Also, no need to feel sorry for me. Anyone who is classified as "poor" by you, which apparently you think I am, can't easily afford $80/month+ for merely a cellphone.
Have fun with your iPhone but I like the Nexus better

However, if you continue with this bulls**t thuggish attitude toward those who disagree with you, I'm not going to stand it anymore.
Insulting someone for having a different economic situation than you is the very definition of cruelty, Taco. Have you ever had to spend several nights eating saltines and fortune cookies you swiped from a grocery store deli because you spent all of your money on the rent? No? How about not being able to afford a 100 dollar repair on a car that's older than you are, which you drive by necessity? How about having to bike 4 miles one way to work in the summer heat until you earn the money to fix that car?
No? Okay, then how about only being able to spend 20 bucks a week on groceries, and not being able to afford a penny more? And what about crying, literally breaking down and crying, when you see a spam email telling you that you've won a lottery, because you know that the email is meant to prey on people as desperate or more than you are? How about having possibly crippling medical conditions and not being able to get them treated because you have no money?
I've been there, Taco. That's all happened to me. I can't say I've been nearly as bad off as some other people, but even that was bad enough.
Yes, it strikes a nerve with me, and I'm not ashamed to admit it. Until you've been in my shoes, or anyone's shoes who's been through something similar, you'll never understand how heartless and classless you sound right now.
And you dare try to make me look like the bad guy for calling you out on this. You're pathetic.

I love apple and own and iphone but I f**king love android as well because it has a lot going for it that the iphone simply can't do. Windows os is great as well. They each do different things that people like. Each person is differnt and is entitled to their own opionio. Its not fair to say iphone users are stupid. Its not fair to say Android users are stupid. No matter what kind of phone we have we are all stupid. Who cares? My god you guys really just need to let it be. Phonearena probably does cater to iphone a little more beacuse that's probably the most writers preference and also there is only one iphone maker so of course your gonna see more aticles about that. Regardless whether the article is about android or iOS, they always have something bad to say about Apple. When an article is about android's success, they would ridicule and mock Apple for not doing well. When an article is about Apple's success, they would post nasty comments against Apple and try their best to dispute the facts and demoralize Apple users. Yet they always feel they're the victims. Have you ever heard the saying, "The hate, that hate produced.". That's where this hatred of anything Apple or iOS came from. It seemed to many non-iOS users that Apple and some iOS users looked down on people who didn't have one. And it still continues now with the "If you don't have an iPhone. Then you don't have an iPhone." commercials. You may not agree, but I'm just saying what it all looked like from the perspective of a non-iOS user.
The good news is, we can just forget all the foul things we've all said about each other, and have more intellectual conversations about the great products these ALL these companies are putting out. We can even debate about it without making it personal. How about we put and end to the Android/iOS war today?
