Apple iPhone 5 on the buy list for 41% of North American cell phone users
0. phoneArena 28 Sep 2011, 14:45 posted on
A study done by mobile ad firm InMobi shows that 41% of mobile users in North America plan on purchasing the upcoming Apple iPhone 5 and half will buy it within the first 6 months of its release; if the iPhone 5 can achieve those sales numbers, its share of the U.S. smartphone market will rise to 41% from 27%...

How much head count did they conduct this survey with? about a 100 people? lol
33. iwebdroidberry7 (Posts: 230; Member since: 17 Jan 2011)
"Garbage survey".... because the results didn't turn out how I wanted them.
34. Sniggly (Posts: 7305; Member since: 05 Dec 2009)
Garbage reporting. BGR switched the Blackberry and Android percentages around.
37. p0rkguy (Posts: 685; Member since: 23 Nov 2010)
Once again, I don't know where people are getting that 52% of android users from. I clearly see 27%. Is everybody just not reading this?
40. devorama (unregistered)
Numbers like this before even the ANNOUNCEMENT of the product tell you nothing about how good a product will be. They tell you how strong the Apple brand is. This 41% number sounds dubious to me.
43. iwebdroidberry7 (Posts: 230; Member since: 17 Jan 2011)
How many people from the Android camp keep going on and on about the Nexus Prime? You forgot about that didn't you.
44. theBankRobber (Posts: 681; Member since: 22 Sep 2011)
Um did I read that right, 41% of mobile users want the new iPhone while $50 are staying with their current model? That's a total of 91% of iPhone users meaning that the 9% is whatever else. Ok yea they only asked iPhone users, not users of all platforms. God these studies suck ass

Apple is still searching for best quality and cheap components to assemble iPhone 5. So Apple will make more profit while Apple lovers pay premium price.

The end for fandroids is near. Once you guys lose marketshare android really has nothing to talk about. Just one run of the mill phone after another.
51. remixfa (Posts: 14255; Member since: 19 Dec 2008)
like always, taco is late to the conversation and completely oblivious to facts. Old taco has been slowly sliding back into place. Noone changes.. lol
If android fails, where would apple get all their new features from?
54. taco50 (banned) (Posts: 5506; Member since: 08 Oct 2009)
Apple is an innovator and it eats you up inside. At the end of the day this flame wars don't matter. Apple will break all sales records over the holidays. Their market share will go up as long as the phone is available on additonal carriers. People will love the phone and the hype train will be bigger than ever.
Fandroids will continue stalking Apple articles on PA and talk sh*t and look like idiots.
61. andro. (Posts: 1998; Member since: 16 Sep 2011)
Islaves will continue to buy and support that which fools them and controls them,
after all most islaves are so hopelessly dependent on the system, they will fight to defend it!

89. Sniggly (Posts: 7305; Member since: 05 Dec 2009)
Of course, when an article mixes up the statistics provided by the press release, Taco willingly believes the mixed up numbers over the original. But when I point out a weird trend in iPhone sales, and point this out by reposting APPLE'S sales claims from APPLE'S press releases on APPLE'S website, Taco accuses me of making up numbers.
Good job, Taco. You've successfully moved to Opposite Land.

59. DeviantDroid (Posts: 51; Member since: 28 Apr 2011)
I hope apple drops the ball big with the 4S..... They are only screwing themselves again by not innovating a new product... This has f**k up written all over.... Sad to see them do but at the same time they deserve it for not stepping up.
65. GALAXY-S (Posts: 701; Member since: 07 Jun 2011)
actually i dont think apple is screwing themselves over at all!!
Isheep will still buy the product regardless, the only ones screwing themselves are the customers who will buy the slightly tweaked phone..
60. andro. (Posts: 1998; Member since: 16 Sep 2011)
Aw, you can come up with statistics to prove anything, Kent. Forty percent of all people know that!
That say it wouldn't surprise me if 41% percent of north Americans are indeed stupid, easily influenced by brainwashing pr techniques and like buying the same product again and again just with a different name

InMobi is an advertising network agency. They are a huge proponent of HTML5 as well as Apple Inc. It is not surprising that they would lay the tracks for another hype. Sheeple marketing is always the main premise for independent organizations of this type.
It would be my guess that many of these individuals were already iPhone fans. I have been involved with polls of this type in the past. They pre-scan thousands of individuals for the survey by way of questionaires. . Once they choose their candidates of choice, they continue with their study. The questions are vague as much as they are direct. The questions are mostly pointed in the direction of the advertiser's client. However, the candidates have no idea why they were chosen or what the poll was for. These candidates are thrown a bunch of questions that have nothing to do with any certain subject. The agency compiles the questions and randomly includes them in the questionaire. It asks a few questions that have to do with their clients but mostly are mixed in with a bunch of irrelevant questions to make it look good. Then the agency takes a tally on the relevant questions and releases their results.
This is why I don't like independent studies conducted by such agencies as InMobi.

if this turns out to be true, then its nothing less but a tragic fact..PEOPLE ARE SO F!CKIN DUMB!
I tell you there are devices already out there, that are better than this next iPhone, not to mention HTC vigor, nexus prime and the likes, that are coming on the way.
so not fair..I'm really getting sick of the rotten apple :(

I wonder how many times the fandroids read the article word by word to find ways to disputed.... i have three words for you guys...( feel free to read as many times as you want)...... read it... learn it...... LOVE IT.....
ps. dont forget to tip the author on the way out...
88. remixfa (Posts: 14255; Member since: 19 Dec 2008)
u cant even count your own words.. thats 6 words, not 3.
75. DROIDX0430 (Posts: 468; Member since: 24 Nov 2010)
41%.. i can believe because the survey was probably taken in front of an Apple store. Those are the fools who have been stuck with the iphone 4 since June 2010 (except VW customers) and are due for an upgrade---so I can believe it. No one has ever asked me to participate in a survey....
76. DROIDX0430 (Posts: 468; Member since: 24 Nov 2010)
let's see Apple uses Samsung, LG, texas instruments and everybody elses components--accept Apple on all of their inside components--then sues them all saying they stole their idea......wait for the lines and camping out in front of apple stores, not paying rent or mortgage for the month, car payment, etc. just to be the first to get a iphone at retail or contract price.
83. gallitoking (Posts: 4718; Member since: 17 May 2011)
let me put it in simple terms.. fandroid in denail.... lets pretend you are an educated man and have a very profitable business.... and your maid steals your secret and opens a business... and steals some of your business... how will that make you feel... dont answer.... just grab your phone.. restarted first so it wont force close... open GPS... look for the nearest... Android store... download the following app.... wait nevermind... Android has the free knock off.... hmmm it wil force close...hmmmm well... just walk to the nearest Android store... and get Android device with ICS..wait... is not out yet... Gingerbread?.. well is only on 30% of devices... dammmm well nevermind... at least you can be on 4g for max 30 minutes as your device will drain the battery... purpose of this story... brought to you by Apple inc..... is to teach you that the world is simplier.... in the iworld.. population.. everyone.....
77. DROIDX0430 (Posts: 468; Member since: 24 Nov 2010)
lol to the iphone 4s, 5, 6,7, or 4GS or whatever name Apple comes up with.....still want be able to compete with any dual core, LTE, gorilla glass, 1gb ram, 32gb storage capacity, qhd or amoled display,,,4.3 enabled Android device.......

is this a troll account? You literally used every single stereotypical fandroid argument and ended it with DROID DOES.
It almost seems like someone trying to make fun of android arguments

PA if this survey is incorrect please update it if not fandroid bots shut up because most android users want iPhones.
TRUTH HURTS LOL
90. Sniggly (Posts: 7305; Member since: 05 Dec 2009)
We'll see what the truth is over the next couple of iPhone generations.
92. taco50 (banned) (Posts: 5506; Member since: 08 Oct 2009)
We sure will. If iPhone is on all major carriers we will really know then which one users prefer in mass.
It will then be 1 or 2 iPhone on all carriers against an army of android phones.
100. Sniggly (Posts: 7305; Member since: 05 Dec 2009)
You do realize, Taco, that even if the iPhone takes a majority stake in market share, people will still buy Android in great numbers. If this weren't the case, then Android would've pancaked just like WebOS. But even with the iPhone 4 on the two top carriers in the U.S., Android's market share has yet to drop, and has in fact increased.
So Apple will get its billions. But Android will continue to go strong too.
This is what you, and Apple, fail to understand: with 300 million people in the U.S. alone, there is ENOUGH ROOM IN THE MARKET FOR MULTIPLE COMPANIES. Apple doesn't need to fail just for Android to keep on succeeding.
Can you please understand this concept? This isn't a war. It's an economy.
101. taco50 (banned) (Posts: 5506; Member since: 08 Oct 2009)
I don't disagree with that. Apple and android will continue to do well. I would love to see android lose market share mostly to watch all the upset fandroids bitching on PA.
102. remixfa (Posts: 14255; Member since: 19 Dec 2008)
it wont ever happen, but hey, you can dream.
there has never been a case were closed and controlled has beat open and innovative. they are different approaches to the same thing, but its not possible for apple's closed approach to stay #1 in market. The ability of android to be pliable and to be on anything dictates that.

iPods have 70% of the market and iPads have abou 80% - 90%

You do realize that by your definition that makes you the same kind of troll you accuse me of being, right?
107. taco50 (banned) (Posts: 5506; Member since: 08 Oct 2009)
No I don't what kind of troll does that make me?
111. Sniggly (Posts: 7305; Member since: 05 Dec 2009)
The kind of troll who (ostensibly) believes what he or she says yet enjoys others' reactions to his or her views. You have accused me of trolling multiple times using these criteria.
112. taco50 (banned) (Posts: 5506; Member since: 08 Oct 2009)
I have already said this. The difference between us is that I know when I'm trolling and you don't. You're too dense.

PhoneArena is not going to update their article because it is not their survey.
85. DROIDX0430 (Posts: 468; Member since: 24 Nov 2010)
I don't get it..Why is this new iphone5 going to have the same operating system as the iphone4....at least the androids coming out give you a dose of the newest operating system....the new iphone5 is gonna come with last June 2010's operating system. on top of some tweeked specs.....but no LTE probably, probably no dual core, probably no gorilla glass-same old fragile glass on back and front of phone (which is why 90% of the iphones i see have that large otterbox assembled around it for protection...), not flash capable, no removable battery---Apple doesn't want you to look inside---and see all of the Samsung and LG components---and say wow!!! I should have got a GSII
91. taco50 (banned) (Posts: 5506; Member since: 08 Oct 2009)
It's coming with iOS 5 and updated hardware just like new android models.
Why are you so angry that android users want to switch to iOS?
127. iosmaster (Posts: 115; Member since: 06 Jul 2011)
Mmmm well iPhone does have gorilla glass, and will have dual core, now day there almost no web page an iOS device can't run either it transfer u to a html5 page or there's an app with is better than the web, stop calling the battery sh@;&:$t android suck at battery life iPhone does not, what kind of moron changes it's battery, just weird people, my bro has an SGS2 and the only good thing it's the screen the rest just sucks

96. Habib (Posts: 114; Member since: 26 Feb 2011)
where was i when they took the survey, or i think what they should do is,
do the survey of sales representatives and ask them what the customers want.
They get the highest customers demands per day .. instead of goin and asking coupla thousand ppl. and why did this survey related android and blackberry to the count? why not mention basic (feature) phone users instead of those two?
I dont get it
97. InspectorGadget80 (unregistered)
Already have a phone that's not iPhone related
105. NVPMOTHAF (Posts: 78; Member since: 28 Sep 2011)
No one Android phone will ever beat the sales of Iphone for a long shot. Maybe if you combined like 5 or 6 android phone sales together it might. IDK...just a thought. Besides I've already talked to over 100 customers in the past two weeks that have wanted to change from an android to the iphone 5 if it comes out and more than 75% of them wouldn't care if it's the 5 or 4s. We'll just wait and see. The one good thing about the iphone over the android is that the iphone doesnt have many DOA devices shipped and I get at least 5 customers a week that have that issue with Androids! Gotta love google!

Doesn't take much effort at all, especially when BGR got its numbers backward between Android and Blackberry users.
