Apple iPhone 4 falls 13,500 feet; lives to take and make calls
0. phoneArena 18 Jul 2011, 22:45 posted on
An Apple iPhone 4 fell out of a skydiver's pocket and tumbled 13,500 feet to its apparent demise, but surprisingly the device still makes and takes calls although the shattered touchscreen makes it impractical to use; the owner plans on getting the unit repaired...

Alright I usually keep my mouth shut about stupid articles being posted on here but come on! I feel like this is the 4th time I've seen pretty much the same article. This is ridiculous I dont care about an iPhone falling and still working.

Goes to show you that Apple cares about building quality products unlike the numerous faulty, poorly done Android devices going around.

Some Android devices may be poorly built, but not all are. HTC phones have very good build quality.

LOL!!!! HTC phones have good build quality? LOL!!! yeah right, go tell the Evo owners that who're suffering burned charging ports on their phones.
At least they aren't like Motorola phones which are locked down.

When was the last time you dropped an android phone from 1/2 meter and it smashed into pieces.
$100 for a new back, I think they deliberately made them from glass to get even more money their overpriced handset.
And no i'm not a hater, I own an iphone, just hate being ripped of by ridiculous costs, when the phone is already the price of a decent laptop

HAHAHAHAHA price of a decent laptop? you MUST be talking about the unactivated price but i very much doubt you didnt go on contract. even the unactivated price isnt what i would compare a decent laptop to.

well i guess you forgot the case where a battery of Desire HD saved a man from a fired bullet

What? should we applaud or feel bad that phone arena gets paid to do this?

I won't be surprised if I read an article tomorrow of an android phone falling from the sky, lol. They seem to copy everything about the iPhone. Even news articles about the iPhone.
God forbid, but it's nice to know that I have the iPhone and that's it's a durable phone that can survive a crash, that way I can be located.
9. BobbyTaba (Posts: 316; Member since: 11 Aug 2010)
android went to space first I bet apple is gonna copy that
14. Sniggly (Posts: 7305; Member since: 05 Dec 2009)
Surviving a car crash where there's outside concussive force is quote a different thing than a 6 oz phone falling by itself at terminal velocity onto grass or something. So is dropping it from five feet onto a semi hard floor.
Anyway, you won't actually hear an article like this about Android anytime soon, because Android users generally aren't big enough retards to take their smartphones skydiving, or even put them in a safe inside pocket that they won't fall out of. :)

Lol, ive gone skydiving with my GalaxyS. But its in a zippered pocket that doesnt easily open. Only an iTard would leave it so easily accessable. This is however like the 3rd or 4th story like this so either PA is just showing its normal pro apple stance, or there is a lot of iTards that dont know how to keep the phone on them.
BTW, just about any phone will survive a long drop. If the screen survives is a different story, but 9/10 will still be able to ring and prove to be functional. Its not that big of a deal.

Nope, sorry. He's smart enough to keep his phone in a zippered pocket.
34. The_Miz (Posts: 1496; Member since: 06 Apr 2011)
Nope, Android users are too busy whining and crying because iOS outsells their precious devices 10:1 day in/out. It's amazing how much hypocrisy is shown here. Had this been an article about an Android device, which would never happen because most android devices are poorly built, you guys would be swarming this article talking about oh you agree and all of that lol.
Too bad Apple knows how to build their phones right.

outselling android i guess u didn't go to school read back storys about android outselling ijunk
only a knob would buy a phone that apple wants you to have and a s**t one at that and bring out 1 or 2 new things every year coz steve headjob knows that isheep will buy it
he can crap in a bag and call it magical and isheep would buy it
with android i like buying a phone i want

yea,, cuz 2 pieces of glass is the most sturdy thing ever.. lol.
miz your an idiot. you must be related to taco, but i cant figure out who's dumber.
iOS is being outsold 2 to 1 by Android.
Had this been an android article, i'd still be laughing at the idiot.
I can tell you for a fact my galaxyS survived being thrown on to tile without getting a scratch... Try that with your iphone. Take pictures of the result.

First off in order for something like this to make the news, something spectacular and unusual needs to happen such as an iPhone falling 13.5k feet or an HTC battery stopping a bullet. If you were to do this over and over in a real testing environment this would only probably happen one out of 10,000 times. In fact I encourage you to try it for yourself, try jumping out of a plane with an iphone at 13,000 feet (preferably with no parachute) or put an HTC in your shirt pocket and let someone fire a gun at you. I'll sit back here and collect the stats to see who truly make a better quality phone. :)

It probably killed a few birds and a bear on the way down...

New plot for Angry birds perhaps...

Haahahahhaha very funny...:D
13. busa03 (unregistered)
Bull s**t. If that were to really fall off 13,500 feet it would have much more than a broken screen. Bull shiiters
17. nimo (Posts: 72; Member since: 11 Jun 2010)
It probably landed on a trampoline in someone's back garden. And still smashed into 1000 pieces.
15. Sniggly (Posts: 7305; Member since: 05 Dec 2009)
And that would be Corning's Gorilla Glass, an invention from way before Apple was even born, and used in Android phones all the time. :)

yes you can make calls.... but just holding the phone... im sure it will induce you wound. throw that especially its an iphone
