As cool as this is, it would only matter if you could get the 3G version from Verizon. I dont see many people wanting to buy a separate unit with the a contract on top of buying the iPad.

According to Verizon's website the MiFi will not require a contract but will be on a month-to-month basis. http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/splash/ipad.jsp

The reason it's month to month is because they're charging you retail for the MiFi. It's bundled into the price of the iPad.

concidering the ipad pricing is identicle for both carriers, then it would be a good assumption that the VZW version is the better value, since ur getting the MiFi with it for "free". Of course its got half the data plan attached to it as its ATT variant, but u sure as heck will be able to use it in more places since the only place u would use the MiFi would be like in the car since WiFi is all over the place now.

I call it a great value...seein as At&t's $15 plan is maxed out at 250MB. Do you call $25 for 2GB a great value?

the way this is worded it seems you cant get a 5 gb plan for 59.99 on the mifi? and after all the rumors about an apple iphone partnership with verizon you are all shocked about this? really? how many rumors would it take about apple and verizon b4 this didnt really surprise you?

It looks like the 1GB plan is only one pf the options. You can also get 3GB for $35 or 5GB for $50. At least if I'm reading the website correctly. http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/splash/ipad.jsp Click on frequently asked questions and it lists all of the data plan options

Since there's no CDMA Ipad yet. It's like getting a regular wifi ipad from wherever and a vzw mifi. Unless they end up subsidizing it.

Why deal with verizon's shit contract. just get the virginmobile mifi and UNLIMITED data. I stand corrected. Verizon is doing month to month???? WOW they must really be feeling the heat from the better carriers out there.

why must you be so negative all the time? I swear all you do is complain 24/7. Sure, some places those prepaid carriers work, but people want this device for portability, many many millions of people believe in Verizon's coverage. Quit hating, all you are doing is pretending to not believe VZW is the best, most expensive, but best. quit being a jackass. thanks

Better carriers? You mean like AT&T, which only offers a 2 gig limit MAXIMUM on its iPhones? Because you're right, it's so horrible that Verizon still offers unlimited data on smartphones and probably will continue to do so. Boo hoo. Stupid fuck who broke your Verizon contract after TWO months instead of one because you can't work an Android phone. Now you come and bitch and moan and moan and bitch because you burned yourself.

If you think about it the Verizon 3G plans are not that great but they are decent. 1 gig for 20 month with $20 for an extra gig, 35 for 3 gigs (same as att with 25 for 2 gigs and 10 for an extra gig) with $10 for an extra gig, 5 gigs for 50 which is the only plan that really saves you money compared to att and it only saves you $5. You can also think of it this way, pay $35 for 3 gigs and get 3G almost everywhere!! I think the best deal here is the 3 gig plan since it syncs with att and you get 4 times as much 3G :). If verizon does tier data in the future it will be good that they have plans like this. This is the way it should be. Sorry I know I am rambling and probably making no sense, I am in a rush to write all of this. This could hurt samsung galaxy tab sales at verizon. Now people can get a MIFI, use verizon, and the ipad. Isn't this what people have been waiting for all along? It is obvious that the iphone is coming next year to verizon. This is just the start.

verizon is going to be switching to capped data plans as well. Def still the best service out there but if you were putting off getting a smartphone dont wait too much longer. caps are coming and soon!

36. jtucker1987 (Posts: 89; Member since: 06 May 2010)

Yea but if you think about it the caps will be reasonable like they are with the iPad. Its not like they are going to charge $40 for 1 gig. With 4G you will probably get more data with reasonable prices. $10 for an extra gig is kinda cheap when considering they used to charge 0.05/mb overage.

Will not be available for sale from the indirect channel. Afraid this will be the case for the iphone as well...if VZW ever gets it.

I find that hard to believe. The majority of Verizon stores are indirect channels. They would be shooting themselves in the foot by doing that.

it's all in the agreement with apple. one of the reasons big red did not get the iphone right off the batt. both of them may be flexing on what they will accept for the deal but more than likely it will stay at apple stores and verizon corp locations.

I thinks its a good move by apple and Verizon. The ipad is a device that like any, should never be locked to a specific carrier. Better availability equals more sales. How many years did this take (ie apple products available thru Verizon)?

My question is, why aren't they offering the iPad at any sort of discount if you sign a 1 or 2 year contract for the 3G service on AT&T? That would make sense in my head, I think the big initial price tag scares a lot of potential buyers away at first. If they subsidize it, and sign people on a 2 year contract, I'm sure that would be more profitable for them in the end. This would insure that people are staying on longer with those $20/month 3G plans, rather than just being month to month and quitting it whenever the "magic" of the iPad wears off.

You all are retarted, The 5gb plan is $50, And its a huge benefit for the iPad to come with a mifi card as to opposed to 3g built in.....5 other devices can get in on the action...and you cant do that with the stock iPad on Att. The VZW plans are way better too. 1gb for $20....that is four times the amount on Att for $5 more.

AT&T Ipad data is 2GB for 25.00 I believe...the 5GB/50.00 from Verizon sounds good - but I will stick with my laptop....why would you want to get an IPAD...no flash=no facebook games :-)

Maybe all those CDMA chips that Apple ordered weren't for a CDMA iPhone, but the CDMA iPad? That would be funny if that is what they actually were for and everyone got their hopes up about a Verizon iPhone. I actually don't see Verizon getting the iPhone until they have their 4G service in full swing and Apple launches an LTE enabled iPhone.

Can you read, it comes with a mifi card, so why would the order have been for a cdma iPad when this is not a cdma iPad??

i would think the reason for the no contract pricing is that the iPad doesn't have a CDMA chipset. Come on ppl...customers have been blabbin forever about data plans with no contract yet here it comes and still ppl have a problem with it. Goes to show that ppl are never satisfied.

Here's my thing. This is the Wi Fi version of the iPad. Why would Verizon bother to sell this when LTE is right around the corner? As a matter of fact, as we speak, LTE for VZW has launched in 35 locales around the nation. Full deployment will be some time in late 2013... not too far off. Another thing is the fact that the iPad is WIFI. It would have been just as easy to buy the device from AT&T or Apple and simply get a Mi Fi from Verizon....contract or no contract. And now that Verizon has the Global Mi Fi, that ups the ante. Simply put, the iPad is Wi Fi capable, so I don't know if bringing the iPad to Verizon made any sense....unless this is truly a precursor to the iPhone showing up on their network. Many iPad owners I know have Verizon Mi Fi's for their internet needs. Maybe just an opportunity to stick it to AT&T. And how will this affect Verizon's Netbook and Galaxy Tab sales? Just my opinion.
