During a conference call following its Q2 earnings report, Apple CFO Peter Oppenheimer said that the company is selling the Apple iPad as fast as it can make them; Apple sold 11.8 million tablets in its fiscal second quarter, a gain of 151% year-over-year...

Waiting on someone accusing of Alan of being an Apple fanboy.
lol seriously though, it's no surprise here that anything with the infamous Apple logo is going to sell.
I still want a 4+ inch iPhone and then and ONLY then, will I ever consider going back.

If you recall, the iPad 2 was "...the mother of all backlogs". Apple may have learned a few or two in the interim.

I can't wait for Windows8 to launch. Tim Cook will eat his words about the whole "toaster and refrigerator" thing!

Honestly, people have been saying this since the iPhone 3G came out. It's not just waiting for a phone or OS to come out. There have been a lot of phones that were supposed to take the iPhone down and some of them were actually good enough to do so. But the problem is marketing to people and convincing them it's a better device and not an "iPhone rip off." Android got that for years until it was able to make a name for itself. WP8 isn't going to be any different. The OS can be amazing, but if people don't care...then it doesn't matter. But marketing isn't the silver bullet because Microsoft poured money into WP7 and nothing came from it. Not to say they don't have a chance...but they have a helluva fight on their hands.

You're right Jeff! W8 will have to prove itself!
I've said this before and I'll say it again. I have an iPad and it's great! It's just an awful productivity device! Think about sales reps having to presentations, take notes at meetings etc.
At times a tablet would be more than sufficient, but if you want to share a presentation, take notes, do support or whatever nothing beats a physical keyboard and mouse.
I like the Transformer, I just feel that Android, while good just doesn't quite fill that niche yet.
It's a great opportunity for Windows and a natural form factor quite contrary to the "toaster and refrigerator" analogy!

So there is our answer. The new iPad actually being in stock somewhat consistantly isn't a sign of people not buying, but rather Apple learning from the iPad 2 launch. Apple is still a very strong company with a now very ridiculous pile of money.

We like this. We see sales rising. We hear demand. We ask, Apple delivers. We like that.

You must like asking for minimal upgrades with premium prices, we like wasting money we do

He might want to rethink his wording instead of saying that it's on fire after all of the temperature complaints when it was launched.
