I definitely think it will happen as, Apple wants to convert all those people with B&N Nooks and Kindles that are used to 7 inches into its' mindless flock. Keep in mind that these groups want more than what the two aforementioned pieces of hardware can offer but they're just not used to having the whole 9+ inches. Besides, with Android phones getting bigger and bigger, Apple needs to be able to compete and right now they just have a tiny MiNiPad aka iPhone and a mAxiPad aka iPad; they need a mid-sized offering for those who don't want it too big and can't settle for too small.

i think same camera of the iPad 2...
but if it will turn out to be true, i think nexus 7 will have a competition.. why, coz it has a rear and front camera.. i think people will like that and a lot of people wanted that on the nexus 7!

I don't think people would pay $50 more (we can pretty much predict it will be at least $250) for a rear-facing camera with a lower resolution screen (Nexus 7 has a 1280x800 resolution screen). I believe the main reason people will pony up for this device would be because they are either an Apple fan (and therefore buy their products) or they just like iOS. So in terms of specifications, I don't think this is really any competition for the Nexus 7 besides the rear-facing camera (which I've mentioned before, I don't think that's a real deal breaker). The main reason it's competition for the Nexus 7 is because of the OS it's running and because it offers that OS at a price and size that some people would want.

well, when has an Apple product really been competition (in terms of specs) for the Android top dogs?

I would say back when the iPhone 3GS was out.

Apple doesn't compete with anyone, what draws a consumer to iPhone is different than with an Android phone. I've reiterated this statement a million times on this site and I've had some pretty lengthy explanations to my thinking.

well, i think this will really going to be true! coz all of the iPhone leaks turns out to be true!
i think people will buy this are those people who love apple devices and those people who dont like 7" coz they think its too small!
but knowing apple, it will be price higher than the current line up of small tablets... im guessing the rumored $249 for the 8GB version..but i think its kinda over price.. still hoping at $199 since the new iPod touches are at $299 32GB version!
well one thing i know is that apple has its own world!

iPhone leaks were very different than those of iPad Mini's. We have actually no real leak from iPad Mini on par with iPhone leaks.
Besides, it's not going to happen because iPad Mini represents something radically different in business principle that Apple was holding on for 5 years now. iPad Mini would destroy Apple's only advantage in tablet world because they would show that they have competition.

i actually think of that too! i mean the iPad2 is a gread device and can be updated to iOS6 so meaning apple maps and siri! but i think apple wants to market the iPad mini for the youth/kids or young proffesional who think the iPad is a very big device and heavy too! and also i think nexus is also market on that area too!
people will buy a nexus 7/kindle fire coz of its portability and youth/kids friendly!

Apple doesn't adapt its devices by fragmentation to social stratification. It's always "one size fits all".

you said the same thing about ip5 being 4 inch screen.
22. AppleConspiracy (Posts: 626; Member since: 18 Oct 2011)
True. However I accepted iPhone's rumors when they became utterly consistent and the way 4-inch screen was decribed, it sounded very plausible, so I've even rendered my own concept based on that screen that was published here on PA already in May this year.
On the other hand, iPad's rumors are also consistent but everything about them doesn't give me the right reasons why Apple should do it in the first place. I cannot say I'm sure about anything really, but if Apple releases iPad Mini, that would be a truly historical and unconventional move for Apple, marking the era of its decline.

Apple Conspiracy--- Are you really THAT confident that this is all a rumor and it wont happen? Come on dude, its a given. Same sources showed the I5 leaks and it was exact. Want to buy me one if you are wrong?
As the biggest apple guy here since Taco is no longer, I will NOT buy one as I love my ipad 3. However, if you people think it wont sell you are crazy. An apple product that competes with the others in the lower price point will blow the competition away.
