This sort of thing is the reason why Samsung's US launch of the Note 2 on Oct 24th is stupid. If Apple event truly happens, Samsung won't be able to capitalize on the media talking about it.

It would b interesting to see which of those devices sells the most. The iPad is entering the growing in popularity 7 inch tablet sector, and has the iPad name brand to help it along. The note 2 is building on the successful launch of the OG note, and is n it's own catagorey with no real competition. I honestly think both will sell really well, with it being holiday shopping time.

True, but part of the popularity of the 7" market isn't just size, it's also price, which, as we all know, apple doesn't sell its devices at a realistic amount, taking on several percentage points just for the logo, even more if it glows. Moreover, if it only has the guts from the ipad2 as is rumored, and people realize that, there will be less incentive for them to get a mini when they can get a 2 for similar cost. Not only that, folks seem to be beginning to realize the limitations of mobile-based tablets, and I am seeing a growing trend of folks wanting tablets running a full computer OS, which is where Surface and its Windows8 brethren will more than likely be highly successful.

Yep, I agree... I think they both would sell well. I originally was talking about Samsung re-launching a phone that's already out in the world. They could have just launched it instead of trying to do this hype-building event. If Apple event takes place on the 23rd, Samsung's efforts will pretty much be a huge waste of money.

Fail apple...300 to 350 for a piece of their product is too expensive compared than other better branded tablets

If apple price it right they'll dominate the holiday season.

Something tells me it wont overshadow anything.

it will only be eclipsed if the press focused on iPad mini alone. tss. it's like flooding their page with apple related articles even if it's not that good read.

Not if its $350. Especially if the base Surface RT is $399.
