yep. That store must have used a 3rd party charger instead of an Apple provided one... you're charging it wrong Australia!

Please explain why they keep saying "the ipad air" when the picture presented as evidence is clearly not the picture of the newly redesigned - with much narrower bezels - ipad. If I had to guess, I would say it is an ipad 2.

Since it's an authorized retailer, I'm 100% sure they were using the licensed Apple charger. I'd love to find out the cause of the explosion.

Hey, don't blame Apple for the explosion, it's the store's fault for having on display the wrong way.

By the vay, do you guys know if it was able to get in one last iTunes sync before its untiMely demise??

It would be so funny if that incident starts a huge recall on all Ipad Air because they are too small and can't take the heat of being constantly plugged in ( as demos are in store ).

or because the paint used on their aluminium body is flamable.

trickster_qc - actually after reading this article - I dunno if the iPad Air can take the heat - but it can definitely deliver it. :P

It was a girls pocket. Thought that was a third party battery which Samsung did confirm. Can’t blame Samsung if customers are ordering inferior batteries off ebay. You can only blame them for allowing replaceable batteries which not too many people are going to complain about.

Since people are willing to pay 200 dollars extra on an Apple product just because it has Apple written on it, I suspect someone will pay 200 dollars for this version of the ipad if the name is still ledgible.

Apple confirm that they will have to recall all iPad Airs and warned customers to not use them and return the product where they purchased it.

Apple shares will lose 45% of it's value in the next two weeks.

Is Australia on 220v or 110v? If 220, I'm wondering the store was mistakenly sent a charger rated only for 110... Would that even matter?
