Apple iPad Air seeing pre-launch price-cut at Walmart

You might recall that Walmart offered launch day discounts on the Apple iPhone 5s ($189) and the Apple iPhone 5c ($79). Now, something similar is happening with the Apple iPad Air; the next iteration of Apple's full-sized 9.7 inch tablet, the iPad Air is smaller, lighter and thinner than its predecessor, but brings the power with a 64-bit A7 processor...

If you want to gamble on a low-cost Apple device for X-Mas, put the iPad Air on lay-a-way and hopes someone plays Secret Santa and pays off your balance.
I never would do this, but I do know which Walmart's have Secret Santa's.

Good thing about all this is Apple no longer can't put the restrictions about pricing.
Which helps the consumers in the end.

I still would not buy this with a $20 discount. The 9.7" iPad has been on the market for years and people want a smaller size. And given the fact that Apple did not cripple the retina mini and made it $100 cheaper that tablet is more desirable within Apple's product lineup. It would have more sense if Apple priced both the iPad air and retina mini for $400 apiece and the iPad 2 and iPad mini for $300.
Other than larger screen why would you pay $100 (or in this case $80) over the retina iPad mini? I expect the iPad Air to sell well but not sale out. The retina mini will be the hot ticket even with the price costing more than its competitors.
It will be very interesting how people will review/score the iPad air and iPad mini. Factoring the list cost and features I would rank retina iPad mini over iPad air.

That's near 7 bars of KitKat money. I could even draw a free Nexus 7!

I hope the 9.7 tablet don't sell out. That way, I won't have to preorder. I was really considering the 7.9 inch though. The thing is that the large one is now so light. I don't know, it's a hard decision.

Go to Wal-Mart either at midnight or early in the morning before work to snag one.
