Apple iPad 2 to be an incremental upgrade, followed by a real-deal third edition in the fall

iPad 3 will be where it's at, according to an Apple employee. Coming this fall, there are plenty of rumors what it will entail, but the main take is that Apple is shortening its tablet refresh cycle, in order to keep up with Android...

"It makes perfect sense, considering the march of dual-core tablets with Android 3.0 Honeycomb, which will chip away at Apple's tablet dominance. With the iPad 2 it will keep up with those, and, come holidays time, we'll be presented with something that most probably will be ahead of the curve, and in its turn cannibalize Android tablet sales during the holiday shopping craze."
This make perfect sense? "Lets build a 1/2 a**ed device and sell it to consumers and then come back a few months lather and sell an amazing device" - That makes perfect sense?
Let me ask you whos side your on; the consumers or the company Apple? To Apple this makes sense but to everyone else this is a rip off and your supporting it!

Ha ha ha, all this hyped up talk and the word is now "don't expect much"

You, don't expect much. But the ipad2 will sell successfully. It will outsell any tablets out there. Including the one you like :)

What the heck is this Apple! What happened to the one device per year announcement?! Why are you releasing 2 iPads this year?! Screw it! I was having my hope high for the next iPad, announced tomorrow. If this really happens, expect to lose a lot of consumers' confidence! Get your game right!!!

Worst part is, the iPad 3 being released by the end of the year is baseless. I don't see any source backing up the iPad 3 for holiday release.
Apple is saying all this garbage now is so their sales won't be a surprise.
*Apple iPad 2 does not meet expectations! Oh wait they already said it wasn't going to. They magically knew that.*

Exactly! I don't even think that Apple staffer is trustworthy. If Apple wanna "magically" dominate the market, they cannot mess up with the iPad 2 seeing the amount of buzz it has already generated.
If, by any chance, it does mess up, not even the iPad 3 can reverse the consequences that follows up from the screw up.

They actually can reverse it. Look at what happened with the iPhone 4 and it's antenna issues.
Making such a statement just gives a reason for fan boys to defend Apple by countlessly arguing "Yeah, well iPad 3 is the real game changer not iPad 2." which is something we're going to see a lot throughout the year.

Anyway, I'm going to get the iPad 2. From what she said, at most we can only see a new design, better screen and the term "better hardware" probably refers to the carbon fibre body as well as slightly higher resolution back camera.
If that's the so-called game changer, then I am not going to wait. Plus, I think the iPad 2 will probably have a 1.2-1.4 Ghz dual-core processor and a graphic card, expected to be 4x times better than the original ipad.
I only need it for my studies and entertainment and I am really not willing to wait that long just to get 1 more, slightly better, iPad.

The fact that Apple issue another CMDA iPhone 4 makes no difference. It is still iPhone 4, same specs, same performance. Apple wouldn't deviate from their tradition so easily. Is that Apple staffer even trustworthy? Hopefully iPad 2 will set things right. I don't wanna see another iPad 3. It make us consumers feel as though we are getting ripped.
Apple, please make things work and not disrupt your own product annual life-cycle. "Two turkeys does not make an eagle".

The apple insider is actually Tina. One of the "geniuses" here at the rancho cucamonga apple store. She's not all there but she knows her macs better than mcdonalds!

You're wrong. It's not Tina. It's Cindy at the Apple Store in Cambodia. She really knows a lot. Her friends say she has psychic abilities :)

I don't think this will slow sales of the new ipad at all (unless there are production limitations that is). The average consumer knows nothing about specs and when they see a new apple product out they get excited. Even with the release of the xoom I still see people talk about how amazing the ipad is. Apple could simply rename the original ipad the ipad 2 with the same specs and their marketing would still find a way to make it sell.

Why sound so bitter? Average consumers? And where do you find Apple Stores again? Oh yeah, at high end places. I guess that's where you can find most average users :)
21. p0rkguy (Posts: 684; Member since: 23 Nov 2010)
The environment may be high end, but the consumers are still simple-minded when it comes to technology.
What crazyname said is true, I've seen a student carry around a gymsack with the Apple logo on it which probably cost him $20+. Given the fact that Apple doesn't make gymsacks, I'm pretty sure people would agree with me that he was a fanboy.

Not to mention the "well, my buddy has one and it looked pretty cool and made fart sounds and stuff" logic behind most people desiring to make the switch from their razor to a smartphone.

get the iPad 3 rolling by fall when all tablets will go quad core?
now i have an idea why Google decided to release honeycomb ASAP the tablets market is still undecided...

What is completely pathetic is that the apple fanboys keep buying this out of date crap, so they can keep pulling these stunts off. It's completely pathetic.
Keep dancing Apple Monkeys...

What's pathetic are jealous and hateful people like you. You can't afford an ipad and its services, that's why you're bitter. You settle for some ipad wannabe android tablet that doesn't give you the attention that you want, so you get mad that the ipad user next to you is getting all the attention, hahahahaha.
24. chorr1001 (Posts: 26; Member since: 02 Mar 2011)
Apple's new slogan?? "Apple. A day late and a dollar short! Unless you count the $600 we just got from you twice in the same year." Yes, no? Too forward?
13. BaiGanyo (Posts: 308; Member since: 07 Feb 2011)
They are starting to get nervous b/c they know it's not going to sell lol.
19. 530gemini (Posts: 2198; Member since: 09 Sep 2010)
And you're getting more upset because another brilliant Apple product is to be released, and will overshadow your cheap imitation android tablet, lol. It sucks to be insecure like you :)
14. 530gemini (Posts: 2198; Member since: 09 Sep 2010)
Great. I get to upgrade my ipad twice this year :)

Yea you have to buy three iphads, I only need to buy one Android tablet... :)

I love my apples, But I CAN NOT justify spending $629 for a device again that can not take place of my laptop... Apple needs to make an iPad that will run Mac OS, and have a hard drive in it, until then I'm not going to be getting anymore apples unless one dies!
