Apple hiring for new R&D facility in Taiwan

0. phoneArena 15 Aug 2013, 13:29 posted on

Google and Motorola are working towards bringing more manufacturing to the United States, but it seems that Apple might be going in the opposite direction. New job listings have popped up that seem to indicate that Apple has plans for a new research and development (R&D) facility in Taiwan. Some are saying that Apple has already begun hiring for said facility...

Again, Not singling out Apple, but if American companies keep pushing American manufacturing and programming jobs to other countries ( because of cheaper labor) and expect to come back to the USA and sell their products they will be in for a big surprise. Because they will fond out of work Americans who are struggling to put food on the table and their will be no interest for high tech devices that no on can eat nor live in.

This is why the boards of Microsoft, Intel, Cisco, Google, Apple, Oracal, etc... need to stop looking at short term gains and long term survival because their survival depend on America being sound. Other Governments will rape their corporations once America falls ( Google found this out while dealing in china). This is why I in a sense hate multinational corporations.

Blame politicians. Simple fix would be to expand tariffs on products made overseas with a variable rate proportional to wage differences. It is not just the wages that move operations overseas, it is also to minimize taxes. There is no excuse for allowing businesses to benefit avoiding US taxes and wages when a logical solution is obvious. Oh wait, those same businesses fund politicians campaigns.

idk if tariffs ever benefited anyone, cause than the host country will put a tariff on our goods. maybe instead, lowering taxes and regulation??

Do you really think the countries whose population works for dollars a month are big consumers of goods produced in the US? Countries that actually by our products will not have tariffs imposed since their citizens earn wages comparable to ours. Lowering taxes and regulation would be great incentive to, but more difficult when both are imposed seperately and collectively at the federal, state and local levels. If it wasn't for a 50 year old tariff on imported trucks, whats left of the auto manufacturing jobs in the states would be gone.

So does this mean Apple has to give up its "designed in California" slogan?

I look at R&D as the first of many steps before a product actually is manufactured. you must paid skilled people for researcher then artist for coming up with designs then computer animators who will 3D model the concept. then molders who will fashion it out of several types of material then testers who will test each model and so on way before manufacturing. thats a lot of jobs.

Their trying to pirate HTC people. Coz HTC ain't doing well, it is a great opportunity for apple to try to convince them to move since HTC have some of the best engineer around especially in design! The marketing team of HTC need not apply.
