Apple has filed a patent for wireless inductive charging mat for iPhone, other mobile devices

0. phoneArena posted on 27 Sep 2012, 09:08

Despite recently saying that it doesn’t find much practicality in offering wireless charging for its mobile devices, a recent patent filing suggest Apple might be working on a solution of its own…

Do you know why so many idiots think that the icr*p is the best phone ever? Thats because most of them are too stupid to read reviews on Apple products on non biased websites like these. Instead they go on Apple.com and blindly pay way too much for last years technology. I work for a wireless sales based company that sells AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint phones and I am sick and tired of hearing about the f**king iCr*p 5, no offense but its mostly from women and femy men who think there the sh*t because that have some fragile POS phone covered in breakable glass! Apple die die die die die die die die die die die die die die die die die die die die die die die die die die die die die die die die die die die die die die die die die die die die die die die die die die die die die die die die die die die die die die die!

IF U WANT TO BAN ME I WONT CARE IFANS BUT THIS IS DISGUSTING

Did anyone bother to look if wireless charging is bad for health!? I suppose everybody is happy with all those Watts floating in the air... It was the same with radium until they discovered radioactivity bites hard...

4. AliNSiddiqui posted on 27 Sep 2012, 09:16 17 1

We all have 10 phones with signals to towers, WiFi connection from all the laptops, mobiles, etc. to the modem... And all that...

Your phone is a better radiator than that close range wireless charging lol..

12. drazyw posted on 27 Sep 2012, 09:26 6

Yeah, it's just an inductor. They are in every electronic device on the planet. EM fields generated by inductive charging on this scale are on the very low end.

22. McLTE posted on 27 Sep 2012, 09:43 22

All these watts floating in the air.. that's the funniest thing I've read in a while!

I just had a swarm of them buzzing around my head like bees!

No worries.. Apple will also invent iWatt repellent.

23. StephenElop (banned) posted on 27 Sep 2012, 09:44 8

LOL you got it bro, Apple will invent iCoat too.

WTH is this? Did Nokia/Samsung patent wireless charging for their devices? Oh, wait even Pre didn't do it. Time to boycott Apple.

21. bobfreking55 posted on 27 Sep 2012, 09:40 22

Nokia and Motorola should patent pressing on numbers to call a contact, texting and even using an antenna and a screen. THEY WERE FIRST. They should patent chargers too, and games (snake) and earpieces and microphones and loudspeakers. I hate the patent system.

26. No_Nonsense posted on 27 Sep 2012, 09:52 11

You sir, are awesome.

36. neutralguy posted on 27 Sep 2012, 10:26 11

Patent system was a crap since edison and tesla.

True, motorola and nokia are the first to develop these kinds. But funny thing is that, a new comer, such as apple, is beating them a mile. Apple is like edison, wait for something to be pioneered on and try to do a paperwork for that thing and try to be the first on the patent office.

On the other hand, nokia, motorola are like tesla. They don't give a sh*t on patents. They focus on developing what has been there.

37. neutralguy posted on 27 Sep 2012, 10:31 7

But can't blame them. First come first serve.

86. bobfreking55 posted on 30 Sep 2012, 10:51 1

just wait till they patent the notification bar, the widgets and even live tiles.

5. AliNSiddiqui posted on 27 Sep 2012, 09:17 24

This is crossing the line! What the hell!? They don't even have the feature on their phone! And now they want it so they can sue other manufacturers?!!

13. moroninc posted on 27 Sep 2012, 09:26 14

Just goes to show that Apple can't be trusted. Nokia should have patented every possible patent for the wireless technology, if this isn't suppressing innovation then i don't know what is. Just a big Bully is what Apple is!!

40. asseek posted on 27 Sep 2012, 10:57 3

lol Apple is like a nerd turned into a bully, fighting everyone but do all the mathematics for this fight (by patents and court rooms). all manufacturers should patent their works and sue Apple for every infringement they make

78. InspectorGadget80 posted on 27 Sep 2012, 21:22

they won't sue Nokia but everyone else this is fcking stupid. If Apple hadn't made a phone they would it ipatent the who damn tech world. Their wouldn't be NO LAW SUITS

8. frydaexiii posted on 27 Sep 2012, 09:19 8

Apple's Agenda after iPhone 5 cock up :

1) Find anything that competitors have created that can be used as a selling point.
2) Edit it slightly and patent.

9. StephenElop (banned) posted on 27 Sep 2012, 09:22 9

This converted me to an anti Apple guy..

I am a Nokia fan myself.

20. moroninc posted on 27 Sep 2012, 09:37 7

hey isn't editing a technology and patenting it sort of like Plagiarism? i know Apple is against copying ala Sammy and Android, but i know that 'iphone' was a trademark owned by cisco systems before they sued Apple... so they can act all innocent they want, AAPL is Evil and run by crooks.

10. GUNDAM posted on 27 Sep 2012, 09:24 10

i never imagined that apple would become lower than they already are.

11. dexter_jdr posted on 27 Sep 2012, 09:25 9

oh Fukk~ then here comes sheeps praising iphone for the wireless charging soon... but now, they say it is utterly useless and not great when Nokia did it today...

50. bayusuputra posted on 27 Sep 2012, 11:56 3

didn't you know that hypocrisy is apple's 2nd motto after litigation?
the third one is to copy but sue others who copy them..

16. Aeires (unregistered) posted on 27 Sep 2012, 09:28 2

At what point does all the energy being emitted become detrimental to one's health?

To answer the article's question, yes, wireless charging is always a good thing to have as an option. In certain situations, I would use wireless charging so why not have it on the iPhone, or any phone for that matter? One of the things I like about it is the option to just pick up your phone and go, not having to unplug the charger every morning.

30. No_Nonsense posted on 27 Sep 2012, 10:08 1 1

The question is: Why patent something which is already seen on existing devices/ there is a prior art for?

38. Aeires (unregistered) posted on 27 Sep 2012, 10:35 3

It's lame, but because they can.

The patent office needs a major overhaul, but recent patent reform may help because they just started allowing people the ability to fight submitted patent applications if they have enough evidence like prior art to invalidate the claim.

52. bayusuputra posted on 27 Sep 2012, 11:59 3

I have a feeling that USPTO favours apple just because they are american company, hence they always grant stupid patents for apple just so that it will gain trade advantages in the US..

it's dirty, it's political, it's apple..

17. protozeloz posted on 27 Sep 2012, 09:29 2

19. ddeath posted on 27 Sep 2012, 09:31 7

Here we go again. Apple at it's best. And the equally s**tty patent office$ will approve it even though it is already out there just because it is Apple.

24. ogy_dogy posted on 27 Sep 2012, 09:44 9

Tipical apple, take somehthing that exists, change 1%, repatent it, sell it as the next big thing. and the press eats it up. every.single.time....

25. McLTE posted on 27 Sep 2012, 09:45 9

"Having to create another device you have to plug into the wall is actually, for most situations, more complicated,"

This argument is stupid!

I use my phone all the time at work.. I would LOVE to have a pad I can plug into the wall, my pc.. whatever.. that just sits there. As I come and go from my desk, I can slap the phone down and it will charge. No need to plug/unplug the damn thing all day long!! How is that more complicated?!?!?!

32. No_Nonsense posted on 27 Sep 2012, 10:11 3

Create and complicated with Apple? More like Having to create another device you have to plug into the wall is actually, for most situations, is detrimental to are sky high profit margins. The $400 margins will come down to $375.

53. bayusuputra posted on 27 Sep 2012, 12:05 4

dude, it's just their lame excuse for being late into the scene again..
I bet this and NFC will be their highlight for the iPhone 5S..

fark you, apple!

31. No_Nonsense posted on 27 Sep 2012, 10:09 5

One of Palm's devices had wireless charging before this patent was filed for.

66. JC557 posted on 27 Sep 2012, 14:20 1

And it was also the topic of many tech magazines years before that.

SMH at Apple's hipster arrogance.

33. eisenbricher posted on 27 Sep 2012, 10:18 5

I've been a Nokia fan and neutral towards Apple. My friend is an i$heep who, after much discussions managed to turn me positive towards apple. But now after IP5 launch everything's turning me Apple hater. To a degree that even a glimpse of iOS interface makes me turn away :(

47. asseek posted on 27 Sep 2012, 11:42 3

same here!! a Nokia fan from the begining till now, but was a bit positive about apple, but now no

34. omacmagics posted on 27 Sep 2012, 10:22 5

Yeah it was filed but where is the working prototype? Something is so definitely wrong with the patent system. I say have at least a working functional prototype and then file for the patent on it. So you are saying anyone can just draw up something on a paper, file a patent for it, wait until someone actually has a working module then sue like crazy because they hold the patent on paper without a working module. That is just crazy.

35. omacmagics posted on 27 Sep 2012, 10:22 3

48. darkdroid posted on 27 Sep 2012, 11:49 3

49. asseek posted on 27 Sep 2012, 11:50 2

Apple filed this patent before Nokia, but when Nokia used it, Apple said it's a silly innovation, so i guess Apple is saying that they are silly in a way or another LOL

51. gallitoking posted on 27 Sep 2012, 11:59 2 3

I think this is a wonderful and innovation at it fullest... making what is already on the market better.. better.. thats the Apple way..

56. bayusuputra posted on 27 Sep 2012, 12:11 3

I can make it better, APPLE WAY, by just doodling a way to charge the device(s) wirelessly without even having to put them on the mat, I can use ultrasound or EM waves to vibrate particles inside the phone, and a mechanism would turn the kinetic energy from the vibrations into electrical energy..

well, sorry i don't have a prototype, but i will patent this anyway..

apple didn't have a prototype, and they only provide some sketches..

and this is the APPLE WAY, turning dreams into sketches and patent the heck of it, without even have one single working prototype.. yeah, fuk apple!
