That is a crap load of apps downloaded though. I wonder how Blackberry App World will do? There are a lot more Blackberry users out there, so I wonder if it will compare... and if they will report it...

while there are more blackberry users, not all blackberries can support appworld... while i do see more revenue being generated by appworld, as it is going to be more productive for the business users, and there arent multiple copies of the same pointless apps (fart app, im talking to you)...

This is news. Big news actually. I think its pretty awesome how they are reaching 1 billion application downloads. Its so funny that you guys think that Apple getting sued is so important even considering how they get sued all the time by random people, but its not important if one of their features is so successful that they are reaching a billion youtube downloads. This reinforces how you guys are just haters. Everyone was rejoicing and lolololololololololoing and writing all kinds of remarks. If this article was not worthy, why did you guys click the link? I'm pretty sure the link gave a good enough description to tell what the article was going to be about. And yet, here you guys are. But sometimes I do have to agree with you guys. Some articles of the iPhone are unnecessary (like the one about the discontinued iPhone bluetooth headset). But there are unnecessary news for almost every company and every carrier. I mean, do we have to be notified for every single Blackberry firmware update? Before every use to say that there were so many software updates to the original iphone because they could never get it right the first time. But I guess its okay for Blackberry to release a new firmware update every second.

i find this more newsworthy than most iphone articles... this is nice for those with an iphone, or ipod touch... i dont fall under either category, but for those that do, good luck winning some free stuff (minus the price for the app)...

You can download free apps and it counts towards the contest. Other than that, I agree with you also.

going off of my formula, a free app takes no cost out of your pocket... i shouldve mentioned that they do have free apps... thanks for pointing that out...

Wonder how long it'll be until the $10,000 ITunes giftcard is sold on Ebay, and I wonder for how much? DRM-Free music FTW

I hope people will say "this is so newsworthy" with sarcasm when Phone Arena posts up an articles about the Blackberry App store getting its 1 millionth download. Just because you don't like the iPhone, doesn't mean you need to bash it. Cause you bashing it isn't going to stop sells or apps downloads.

I dont care who the manufacturer is, this is not news. The Verizon Wireless GIN store, which was the FIRST app store by the way, exceeded 1,000,000,000 a LONG LONG time ago and I never saw an article on here.

Jyakotu, do you know how to formulate a correct sentence?

Nobody cares or cared about Get it Now. I think I had one of the first few handsets with that feature and it still sucked when it was a new thing. They probably exceded 1 billion downloads, but was there 114 million downloads every month? I doubt it. And people are buying iPhone apps like crazy. CNET thinks 1 billion downloads is noteworthy. So does abcnews, PCMag, USAToday, Yahoo News, etc.But I guess what Legion says is law right? I probably didn't have more than 10 downloaded applications when I had my vx6100, vx7000, vx8100, samsung 670 and Voyager. And plus buying unlimited use costs like 7.99 for a game that is sometimes freaking slow (depending on device), bad quality graphics (basically all devices), and that you can beat within half an hour. But you're right that phonearena didn't advertise Get it Now. But neither did Verizon, so I guess its not really something worth celebrating. I wouldn't even be surprised if the Get it now didn't even have 500K downloads considering that most people who had the feature didn't use it. And you can't really consider Get it Now as the first app store. Get it Now was seriously a joke. I don't even consider them applications. I just did some research and I found nowhere that said that Get it Now reached 1 billion downloads, so what are you talking about? Just keep dreaming.
