I could still get a decent laptop or netbook for this, Apple prices their items outrageously

apple can't regain its lovers with these ideas. try to think about a good idea instead of feeling everywhere with none sense news.

Are they serious? So their biggest idea of the month was to give a mediocre device more memory? The nexus 10 it's better than this hunk of junk and a bigger bang for your buck, hands down, wifi only for the 32gb variant is 499! Better processor, graphics, features, screen resolution, and more. f**k Apple, they're done.
47. 1v1addict posted on 29 Jan 2013, 10:10 1 4
FYI ipad 4 has a6x processor which is faster than nexus 10's Cortex A-15,
And features ? Ipad has over 300,000 apps, real tablet apps, not scaled phone apps
55. vangeodee posted on 29 Jan 2013, 10:53 7 1
are you f*cking retarded or something?
fyi, the A6X runs on TWO 1.4ghz while the Exynos 5250 runs on two 1.7ghz A-15s. by sheer numbers alone, the Exynos chipset has more oompf than the A6X. Let's not forget that the A6X chipset has NO RAM that comes with the chip package.
and don't give me that "iOS is smoother than Android" crap. Everyone knows that Android is a lot more hardware intensive than iOS, with iOS being the simple app-drawer it is.
so think about what you say before you say it.
60. Tsoliades posted on 29 Jan 2013, 11:37 1 1
Not that it matters, but Apple's chip is better. Apple makes great hardware.
Benchmarks don't lie. If iOS had more leg room, OS X had more software for it, or the screen on the iPhone was a lot bigger, I'd probably be an Apple fan.
Either way, it doesn't really matter as of yet because all devices can pretty much run the same games and apps. When it's time for mobile OS devices to run PC apps, they'll have PC powered chips.
106. 1v1addict posted on 30 Jan 2013, 03:10 0 0
Apple A6X is a custom designed chip by apple it's not
Standard arm chips, and the clock speed difference between the a6x and exynos 5250 is only 0.3 GHz,
So a6x makes up the clock speed difference by it more efficient and powerful design.
One more thing, i DIDN'T SAY IOS IS SMOOTHER, i said that it has more than 300,000 TABLET OPTIMIZED APPS, not super scaled phone apps that looks....., you know
113. vangeodee posted on 30 Jan 2013, 23:17 0 0
so what if it's just 0.3Ghz? A lead is still a lead mate and on a side note, the main reason why I use clock-speed comparison is primarily because A6X cores are not Cortex cores and with apple being the big b*tch on proprietary technology, there is little room for core-core comparison.
powerful? with Exynos having the 0.3Ghz lead, the A6X is a more powerful chipset? Although I admit, Apple has definitely done a great job in optimizing iOS for their set of hardware which is why, it doesn't need all that torque in terms of hardware to power their products (and I did mention that Android is A LOT MORE hardware intensive than iOS right?)
No you didn't. I just pointed that ahead of time so you wouldn't use it to defend the lack of power in A-series chips.
so arguably, Exynos Chips are faster than A6X chips. (my rebuttal to : "FYI ipad 4 has a6x processor which is faster than nexus 10's Cortex A-15")
So what if it's scaled? it just means that app devs are either working on the tablet version, or are just plain lazy.
and lastly, on the features front, you would want to tread lightly on that front. everybody knows how Samsung has the best features when it comes to android :)
61. big.e927 posted on 29 Jan 2013, 11:48 3 0
@#47 who replied to my previous post, when all is said and done, Samsung is the one who provides Apple with the chipsets that go into the A6X, Apple merely tweaks it up abit, also, the one thing that Android will always have over iOS is flash support my friend. So suck on them "apples", and suck on them good.lol
84. sithvenger (banned) posted on 29 Jan 2013, 16:58 0 1
Android is doing away with flash, and so is adobe.
107. 1v1addict posted on 30 Jan 2013, 03:17 0 1
You should read a lot, APPLE LICENSES THE ARM ARCHITECTURE FROM ARM, NOT SAMSUNG
SAMSUNG ONLY MANUFACTURES IT
To put comparison, it's just like Qualcomm licenses chip from arm, then custom designed it,
That's why Qualcomm's chip is not Cortex-A9 nor Cortex A-15, cause it's a modified chips just like apple swift ( A6..)
94. InspectorGadget80 posted on 29 Jan 2013, 18:05 0 1
FYI Samsung design the A6 PROCESSOR you can find in some older Samsung phones

112. big.e927 posted on 30 Jan 2013, 21:15 1 0
Your head must be far up your ass, because you clearly didn't read.what I said properly, I said that Samsung provides most of the key components that goes into the A6, not that they own arm or license it, so maybe you should read alittle more you little isheep.

Surely it'd make sense for them to wait and announce a 128GB version of the next iPad? If (and it's a big if considering the price) people buy this I don't think they're going to be happy if a new iPad is announced in March/April.
56. infinitemethod posted on 29 Jan 2013, 11:33 0 0
There won't be anymore iPad's released. This is the final one. They decided not to waste their time selling the same product, over and over, and over again. iFAIL.
38. darkkjedii posted on 29 Jan 2013, 09:21 0 5
Never due to the fact that its meant to b cheaply priced.
42. gmracer1 posted on 29 Jan 2013, 09:41 0 0
I don't care about the price. The specs is what gives me a boner. Tegra 3 processor, 1GB RAM, Corning glass...........damn, now I just made a mess *blushes*
Oh, and don't forget the true 720p display--unlike the iPad Mini.
The Nexus 7 was priced to move. I used to sell electronics, and a part of it was Tablets. Sooooo many people are cheap and didn't want to spend more then $100-$150 on a tablet (meanwhile expecting it to do everything the $500 tablets do). Those cheap tablets were always returned because...well...they're cheap and don't do jacksh*t. My assumption is Google/Asus saw the trend and decided to price the Nexus 7 right above cost (which is an amount of literally $15). Talk about volume selling ;-)

40. bransablan posted on 29 Jan 2013, 09:31 1 1
Ipad is still the number one selling tablet out there, with that being said i think this release of more memory was never intended to get the attention of regular consumers but more of businesses and other people in an indistry probably such as photography or teaching. I do have to say i rather just wait for the next Samsung Note tablet that comes out, multiwindows on a tablet is something ive been wanting to do for a long time and seems like the most needed feature on any tablet for business... I know this wasnt probably supposed to be some big product announcement but the trend of apples products not having the most innovative products out anymore is whats killing the conpany...
62. gmracer1 posted on 29 Jan 2013, 11:57 4 0
Exactly!!! I bought an HP laptop for $580 with the following specs: AMD A10 processor, 6GB RAM, 640GB HD, backlit keyboard, Beats Audio, 9hr battery, HD webcam, and a fingerprint scanner (lol). I later spent $20 on GSkill 8GB RAM.
Easily one of the best purchases I have ever made, but $800 for locked down tablet with a boring interface? I'll pass!

50. unknowntruthz posted on 29 Jan 2013, 10:36 0 0
Please correct me if I'm wrong but didn't the Ipad 4 come out last year, with like an updated A6X processor or something? I remember reading announcements for it around October and November about the same time they announced the mini. Was it delayed so they can increase the storage?

And if this were an android tablet getting it, this comment thread would be totally different.
58. infinitemethod posted on 29 Jan 2013, 11:36 2 1
Yeah, it would be different. I'll take a $399 Nexus 10 with a better resolution display, better cpu and is more than half the price. W's! Oh, it also has Jelly Bean, which makes iOS look like it's bald headed stepchild.
67. nwright94 (unregistered) posted on 29 Jan 2013, 13:14 1 1
I mean the people saying that 128gb is overkill because its on an iPad. Don't mean the specs. The Nexus 10 is an amazing tablet, gonna pick up a Nexus 7 myself pretty soon I'm just saying these comment threads are usually very one sided toward one side or the other.

Motorola try to pull this high price crap a while back with the XOOM, guess what happen to that android tablet....

What!!!! I mean Apple has always overpriced their stuff but there's no way to justify an 800 dollar iPad. Get a Windows 8 Ultra book! Wtf?!?!
64. papss posted on 29 Jan 2013, 12:29 0 1
While I agree this price is stupid high the tablet ipad4 is THE tablet to beat period.. You can have your cheap plastic Frisbee N10 with the tiniest tablet app selection.. I don't want phone apps to make up my selection when working on a tablet.. What I want is JB on my iPad 4.. Best s**t ever.. N10 lost me with SS..
69. cgyspy posted on 29 Jan 2013, 13:36 2 2
"When working on a tablet" you working on an Ipad? you are kidding right? Ipad is nothing but a toy that will never get any serious work done!!....And why do yoy worry about cheap plastic on Nexus 10 if you are going to wrap the tablet with a case? be it Android or Ipad?
85. papss posted on 29 Jan 2013, 17:42 0 0
Yes I'm completely serious.. I'm a professional and often take either my Asus Infiniti tf700 or my iPad 4.. I use it in conjunction with docs to go with a keyboard and also in presentations I use my iPad with a stylus for groups in meetings. Not that I need to explain to you how I make a living. Also I have a child and would never trust him with a SS product even in a case.. Not to mention the weak graphic chip inside the N10 or the weak library of apps that I sometimes require.. Maybe when the play store grows up and has a healthy selection of tablet apps ill use my Infiniti more but until then the iPad is the tablet to own... I will say it again though the price for this particular iPad is stupid expensive.. I will be ordering a surface pro when it's released for hard work while at home.. As it stands my laptop almost never gets used
73. InspectorGadget80 posted on 29 Jan 2013, 14:23 3 2
Are they stupid or something? 700$ for a ipad? U might as well buy a laptop/Mac book with that kind of money. I mean seriously what kind of idiot would shell out 700-900$ for a WAY OVER PRICE IPAD??
80. networkdood posted on 29 Jan 2013, 15:35 1 1
No, a MacBook is over 2k....lol, I can get a high quality sony laptop with 5 yr warranty for 800.00....major ripoff, these iProducts. But, in America, people just do not have common sense - people here love their fashionable name brands, and will not open their eyes up to what other possibilities lie beyond.
86. InspectorGadget80 posted on 29 Jan 2013, 17:42 0 2
my fault got the price wrong for the mac book lol
79. networkdood posted on 29 Jan 2013, 15:33 0 1
Wow, when you compare what you get with an ipad with a Nexus 10 or 7...there is just no debate...NEXUS wins...
unless, you are Wendy, then I guess you can afford to blow your money on iNFERIOR products. I know here in the states people will buy this thinking that they are now superdeeduper cool...if blowing money is cool...then, I guess I am not.

Apple knows that Microsoft is releasing the Surface Pro on Feb 8 and it is trying to get as many sales as it can before the release. There is no comparison, APPLE LOSES ,Tablet Computer against a tablet. Spend your money wisely
