Apple is being sued by VirnetX

A company called VirnetX is suing Apple for infringing on U.S. Patent No. 8,051,181. Awarded to the Nevada based company just this week, the patent is entitled "Method for Establishing Secure Communication Link Between Computers of Virtual Private Network" and covers a technique for establishing a secure communication link between two computers over a computer network. This is done by setting up a secure network link from the first computer without using cryptographic information. A semi-random sequence of data values keeps the connection secure.

VirnetX moved quickly to defend its intellectual property. The patent was awarded on November 1st and the complaint was filed the same day. The actual invention was filed with the USPTO in February, 2007. The complaint alleges that products like the Apple iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, iPad 2, iPod touch, and Mac systems that run Lion infringe on the patent. VirnetX seeks an injunction against Apple and damages. Last year the company took on Microsoft and won a $200 million settlement from the tech giant

Well Apple is the patent troll here Lucas, they started all of this nonsense. It's only natural that they get a taste of their own medicine.

actually im almost positive apple is not the one who started this, and that is was microsoft who btw makes so much more money off of other companies and has so many more lawsuits... is it just that u hate apple? cause then u might as well just say that...

No sir, I don't. As a former iPhone 3G user and a currently iPod touch user I love apple but I think they have gone way too far with all of this. They got a patent for a sliding lock screen for crying out loud. Even tho they weren't the first to use it.

Yeah, the difference being that Microsoft uses patents the way they were designed to be used, to collect royalties.

Apple uses patents to ban other products because they are scared of competition.

Do you know what you are talking about?

Every one of the technology companies...hardware, software, etc. have all borrowed an idea in some form or fashion. It helps us to advance faster. Just let it be or if you decide to sue someone expect it to come back around at one point...end of story.

money grab...hate this patent war s**t no matter who is doing the suing. Technically any company could sue any other company for some sort of infringing if they wanted to.

They were waiting, foaming at the mouth for the day it was patented and logged a complaint the same day...

iTtorney: 1 an iLawyer; attorney-at-law.
2. an attorney-in-fact; agent, that will defend any Apple device even when there is nothing to defend, and in most cases the agent will say others [referring to anyone who doesn't like an iDevice] are drolling.

Yet another typical response by a rabid ibot freak, Here lately Apple is not suing they're trying to completely ban sales of certain android devices, get your facts straight tard. Remember who started these flame wars, remember who cast the first stone it was you ibot freaks who are constantly whining about android stealing IP from apple, it's same thing over and over again just like your beloved company apple releasing a phone without a design change for the second consecutive time, there's a pattern here same thing over and over again, are you getting it now you dullard, apple and you ibot freaks don't like change, it's just like your post same stupid s**t, you say the same thing all the time!

No moron. It's you here on the Apple article talking about Apple because you're obsessed with them. Apple users are not plastered all over android articles talking smack.

If Apple wants to ban sales that is within their rights. If you don't like Apple then don't buy their products. It's that simple. You make yourself look like a huge loser by showing how obsessed you are with Apple.

PS stop thumbing yourself up

Well pretty much every android user steals. That's the main reason to use android other than their phones being free. Android makes it easy to pirate apps and music. That's why most of their users are teenagers or young adults who have no money yet. Once you get an education and a decent paying job you'll be switching to superior Apple products.

That's also why android tablets don't sell. They're not subsidized to free. No one is stupid enough to pay for android. I have a Xoom which my company provides me free with a data plan. The only use it gets is a mobile hotspot so I can have wifi at work on my iPhone.

Most pirating is a little over the heads of children lol. Don't see many software engineers who are 14. iFans tend to be simple minded.. don't like complicated routes.. Thus the Apple brand so simple a 5 yr old could use it. Since when is changing code and digitally mounting programs something your savvy with taco? Different strokes for different folks :) go search something on tourer iTunes :D

Pirating is very easy to do. Anyone with basic understanding of a computer can do it. Just look at whateverman.

Since when is more complicated better? Would you rather do math by hand or a calculator. Would you rather type or write by hand? The whole premise of having a computer is it simplifies tasks for you so you can do them much faster. Any designer or engineer who has any skill will try to make their product eaiser to use.

Usually when a person starts using curse words and homophobic slurs it means they're losing the battle of wits. You're resorting to juvenile insults because you've been owned. It also shows I've gotten to you and you're pissed! Lol

You still don't get it do you. You can never own me, because you lack the knowledge, sense of humor and wit. You're a wannabe bully that keeps getting his ass whipped mercilessly. And I'm not even trying right now.

BTW, I found the link you were looking for. You know, the one that has the conversation that proves you are a big fat lying He-Bitch? Here it is, just go down to July 6th, post #75... Oh, looks like I onwed you back then too. LOL!!! :)

I have no problems opening any app I have within seconds I could open a song.. Cut it into a ringtone set it as my ringtone in under a minute. Don't have to download a ringtone or buy one lol. Android is about being able to do what you want when you want without it being complicated. Can IPhones even make ringtones on their phone. Last I remember it required jail breaking and using an external program on a computer just to make your own. Ah restrictions. Enjoy your iPhone 4 (not s). And I'll enjoy my phone in every way I see fit. After all I paid for it... Its mine and its nice to not be restricted :) and I didn't say Androids are complicated I said iFans are simple minded.. Soak that in... absorb it... Marinade in it. Ease of use m Android let's you set anything up how you want it.. Its like organizing your desk everything where you want it rather than some things where you want it.. Others forced to be a certain way. Id take individuality over being the same as everyone else any day.

Not according to an article from PA that suggest the opposite of what you're saying, link provided below. "Apple is the most popular electronics brand in most categories, with the exception of gaming, among America’s youth population ages 13-24." And there is this new thing the kids nowadays are doing call ahhh breakdanc...no JAILBREAKING! Yeah, that's it! Jailbreaking their iphones, and ipads so they can do all the malicious things you swear the people who use Android devices do.

Well, you didn't prove me a lair, but you have proven one thing I said about you in an earlier post. LOL

Ok how does this contradict anything I've said? Apple is the most popular among all age groups.

Exchange users use iPads 97% of the time and iPhones 66% of the time. That means business users much prefer Apple over android.

I said thiefs such as you prefer android. I didn't say android is the most popular amongst young people.

Apple Ousts Google as Top Tech Brand

"According to Intermedia, the largest Microsoft Exchange hosting provider globally, 61 percent of the ActiveSync-based smartphones activated on its service are iPhones. Just 17 percent are Android handsets."
