Apple begins free bumper program
Happy days are here for owners of the Apple iPhone 4. If you are having problems with the dreaded "left handed death grip", you can request a free bumper from Apple that is expected to prevent your body from de-tuning the two antenna. First, you need to download the iPhone 4 Case Program app from the App Store. Once you have installed it, open up the app and sign in using your iTunes store account or Apple ID and select which case you want. Those who purchased their handset before July 23rd must respond by August 22, otherwise you must apply within 30 days after buying your iPhone 4. Any model purchased after September 30 will not qualify for a free case.

If you have already purchased a bumper from Apple, the Cupertino based firm will give you a full refund. In fact, those who paid via credit card should already have received credit and it might take one billing cycle to appear on your statement. For those who paid using cash or a check, return to the store by September 30th with your receipt, and you will get a refund. A new gift card will be automatically sent to those who used a card to buy the bumper and if you bought the protection from an AT&T store, click on this link to print out a rebate coupon that you should send to Apple with a copy of your receipt by September 30th. If you want to return the iPhone 4, bring it in undamaged to any Apple retail store or mail it to the online store within 30 days of purchase for a full refund. If you purchased the device from an AT&T store, return the phone at any one of the carrier's retail stores for a refund. AT&T will not charge a re-stocking fee for the return.

And look who it is! The one who thinks it's ok to get screwed over by bad business practices. It's people like you who give companies like Apple the notion that it's ok not to care about the consumer. Oh wait I forgot, you are under the spell of the worlds greatest PR team led by Steve Jobs.

How is Apple screwing anyone? You can return the phone for a full refund if you don't like it. If you want to keep it you can get a free case. They usually charge a restocking fee for returns which they're waiving.

Too bad this wasn't a Nokia Article. You would be the first in line to post your drivel. And of course it would be ok cause you are an expert. But since this Apple, anyone else who posts drivel is a hater. I'm not sure I'm gettin' that one!

I commented on Nokia articles because I own a handset using every second of which is akin to having 4 rusty nails screech at my brain in terms of my user experience. I see no reason to comment on every single article (and there are many many more on that than on Nokia) which deals with a company whose only serious flaw is to release a product that if you hold it in a very specific spot - you lose reception over time and your call might drop. That is if you don't get a bumper like everyone does anyway. I hope that explains my thoughts.

Anyone ever notice how all iPhone discussions begin with someone saying "Let the hating begin" or something to that effect?

That's because every apple article is followed by a bunch o ridiculous comments about how bad apple sucks and how every other phone is better than the iPhone. I've never seen anything like it other than phone arena.

Oh and you never see any of that when there is an article about Verizon being rated #1 in customer service, having the best network, or the fewest dropped calls... Yeah ATT fans never go on those articles to hate on VZW, right?

@ taco50 - Really? Don't surf the net too much? Fanboi-ism is rampant on every tech site on the net for just about every device out there. And if memoy serves... Apple fan's got the ball rolling pretty well on their own by always having a comment on Microsoft back in the day. What the hell will you people do in a few years after Apple is broken up because of antitrust like MS was, and your precious CEO retires and Apple loses it's direction? To be fair, the same will happen to Google/Android shortly after that... it's a repeating cycle. And yes, I have developed a growing bias myself, but I can admit it and that my products of choice can have flaws. As long as the flaws get fixed in subsequent generations and progress is made, I'm OK with that.

U post bad comments and bad remarks because ur simply jealous other wise you wouldnt post anything in the first place. You dont have the phone how would you know if the problem is affection them? YOU DONT. GET OVER IT and wait for the IPHONE on VERIZON. Man iam so sick of this stupid ass comments by verizon fanboys. I had my iphone 4 for 29 days now and have no issues with dropped calls, YES WITH OUT BUMPER CASE. It doesnt bother me that the bars go up and down, as long as it doesnt drop the call WHICH IT DOESNT. You dont have the fucking phone so stop posting bad comments to make your self feel better.

Yea it sure is a sick ass phone. It has a case of dropcallitis. Definitely not jealous. The Droid X blows the iPhone out of the water anyway. And you will be waiting a long ass time for the iPhone to come to Verizon because it wont ever happen. Verizon doesnt need that piece of shit. This site is laid out for debate and discussion. Why the fuck else would we prove you iSheep wrong time and time again! Suck on that.

You dont have to have one to know its a piece of shit. Thats why there are people that do reviews! Everyone knows a Geo Metro car is a piece of shit, how do they know that you ask? Its not because everyone owns one and then makes an opinion its from word of mouth and rating/reviews! Think it through next time...good luck in life!

Wow, apple's doing it again. Now they have a video on Engadget of the of the Droid X loosing signal. But you guessed it, it never dropped the call! Apple should just quit making lame videos and concentrate on making their antennas work! It just makes them look bad.

I have tried for days to get my service to drop on my droid x. I have held and covered my hands all over my phone. Someone can casually hold their iphone 4 while on the phone and boom dropped call. I can talk for hours on my droid x while holding the phone in any kind of position i want and i have no issues at all.

The signal drop is the common issue. Dropped calls are a rare side effect of it. Most of the time the bars drop with no effect in call quality. Unless if course it is in an area with already bad service. Most critics would say that's anywhere with AT&T but I'd beg to differ. I live In southern California and usually get 3-5 bars and consistent quality in voice and service no matter how many bars. Friends on verizon say they hear me fine. And my data speeds are usually around and over 3MB/s. That's triple verizons. I know there are a lot of areas with bad service both carriers and that att has plenty more but my point here is most people have decent service with AT&T or they would get another carrier. And if they have decent service then the dropped calls are rare at best. No they shouldn't happen but they do, on every carrier.

Why would you pay for "decent" service? I have Verizon and I know I pay for Superior service over any other carrier in this area. You are an IDIOT for paying for inferior service! And what is AT&T doing saying they cover 97% of Americans and also having the "Nations largest WIFI Coverage"! Did they really just claim to have the largest WIFI service...last I checked I have a wireless router and AT&T has nothing to do with it...riddle me this shitty-AT&T! I would also love to see your 3MB/s with you saying that AT&T has more bad service areas, there are computers that barley get that speed (shitty computers).

Why does Apple articles always result in some guy given dull facts that no one cares about, and a string of haters follow, unwillingly, just because it's cool. Apple makes good products, the only Apple product I own is an iPod Touch, and its wonderful. I understand you guy have biases between different companies, but this is ubiquitous and boring.

cemysh33...you sir dont know anything other than you THINK you pay more for "superior" service..then you SHOULD KNOW..you need to buy 3 more phones..one from each carrier to get coverage virtually anywhere!...schmuk!..vzw is HUGE as a wireless company but man do they nickel n dime!

Everybody nickels and dimes. Its called business. Sprint with their Unlimited to any mobile calls (god help you if you should have to call a residential number frequently then that everything plan becomes not so everything) and $10 charge to carry a 4G device even if you don't live/travel to a 4G area. T-Mobile has established as bein the cheapest provider for years but what's the point of payin $69.99 for 5 lines of service to have unlimited minutes if the service doesn't work like you need it to? The two top carriers in the nation happen to be higher priced in monthly costs. People have no idea what expenses go into providing adequate wireless service, all they are concerned about is having all the benefits but paying next to nothin. Consumers are just as greedy and money-hungry as the corporations they claim are takin advantage of them. Sprint and T-Mobile don't have the revenue to compete on the level of network reliability that Verizon operates on so the cheapest thing to do is slash prices. Def. a hell of a lot cheaper than adding more coverage to the footprint. Its funny that even though AT&T's price plans are pretty much identical to Verizon's plans nobody ever mentions that they are too costly...but the fact that their premier phone is havin a minor catastrophe could be diverting the attention. Point is sometimes, quality comes with an expense. If cheaper were better, KIA would be rated higher than Cadillac, Lexus, Toyota, etc.
