Apple applies for patent on wireless charging system

0. phoneArena 02 Dec 2012, 14:07 posted on

Apple envisions a world with near-field magnetic resonance charging electronic devices up to a yard away based on a recent patent application made by the Cupertino based firm; on the other hand, interference from such signals could destroy credit cards and other magnetic storage...

1) And the don't have even a SINGLE iDevice with that feature, while the others manufacturers have it in some devices.
2) How they succeeded in patenting things that are available in the market?

It doesn't take a genius to figure out pretty much any blatantly senseless claims being submitted by Apple to the USPTO will get approved no question asked.

USPTO should be called
APDAS (Apple Patents database & approval system)

Their patents system is seriously flaw. A simple drawing is all it take to sue for a billion dollars. This model will encourage the rich to invest in patents rather then real products.

How will that benefit the U.S economy. Patents can't be export oversea to earn revenue.

Instead of making a book about Apple 4 dummies, the dummies authors should write a book titled Apple is a Dummies!!!!

I mean is this for real???!!!!!!
Oh man the USPTO is too bi-assed (Apple's a$$ and USPTO's a$$ being sown together!) towards Apple just because its an American company!
If this goes on then other manufacturers will just stop shipping devices to the US and then Apple can have all the market to itself and create an absolute monopoly...bunch of jerks!

Bloody they dont have any innovations yet they file for patents on other's innovations and the USPTO approves....shamless case of Money can buy anything...in this case patents for Apple!

Bro apples patent is on a truly wireless system involving a kinda magnetic bubble. The wireless charging we currently have isn't actually wireless. It only creates a middle man, which can stop the charging process when u get a call if u pick the phone up. Apples would continue to charge as long as ur n a certain proximity. I had the palm pre, back when I hated Bluetooth, and speaker phones. Every time I got a call I picked it up off the charging dock, and as a result it was never fully charged. The current wireless charging still requires a wire/cord so it isn't truly wireless. I'm with u in this patent crap though believe me I am.

Wrong! It is wireless.

No it's not...it's plugged into a wall dude, And the device has to be connected to the port

Dos phone and charging dock is somehow physically connected together with any wires or connectors? NO! And thats mean it is wireless!

If it uses a wire/cord then it's wired not wireless

Power between charging dock and phone is transferred wirelessly where do you see any wires or physical connectors between charging dock and Nokia Lumia 920 ???

Actually, you are right. What Apple is patenting is contact free/wireless charging, which is different that what is currently available.

Riiight.

In that event, cell phones aren't wireless. After all, the tower is connected to the rest of the Internet over ethernet or fiber.

the base is connected to the plug...the phone being charged is wirleless as no cable or ANYTHING goes into the phone to charge it hence WIRELESS

then your wireless internet connection is not actually wireless, because it is still connected to cables across the ocean..

your logic must be given a high five..
on the face..
with a table..

Who is right? The companys that release it, whole world and read onhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inductive_charging

It isnt called wireless charging for nothing dude. Also u really think Apples that u call real wireless, dont need a power cord connect to the wall outlet too? The power just comes from heaven, blessed by Apple to theirs believers (like u) and yours God have given u all true wireless power....

"No it's not...it's plugged into a wall dude..."

Are you kidding? Of course charging dock should be connected to something, energy doesn't come from nowhere just like that...

"And the device has to be connected to the port..."

Phone with charging dock is not connected with any wires or other physical connectors.

"Plugged into wall = wired"

Of course charging dock should be connected to something, energy doesn't come from nowhere just like that but between charging dock and phone there is no wires or connectors and that's mean that power is transferred wirelessly. For some reasons you are unable to understand that or you just trolling?

No I understand perfectly, and I'm not trolling ur just mad. The current system of wireless charging isn't actually wireless, PA did an article on it some time back. Go look it up n PA's search bar. Apples would actually be wireless, based on its ability to charge from a certain proximity,ie the charger on the coffee table, and the phone on the couch as long as the device is n range. U wouldn't need to physically have it sitting n direct contact with the quote unquote wireless charger.

We were talking not about efficient distance between charger and phone! We had debates about it is wireless or not! It is doesn't matter it is one meter or few millimeters but it is wireless!

"U wouldn't need to physically have it sitting n direct contact with the quote unquote wireless charger."

Actually you can lift your device from charger and hold it away in few millimeters. The bigger distance between charger and phone means less efficient energy transfer but that doesn't change the fact that it is wireless charging!

Apple's "energy spreading" part also will be connected with wires to an power source!

So, you think apple system will auto generate power by itself? Are you serious? It will always be wired to a plug!!! The difference is only it doesn't need to be on the mat, it can be next to it, and you can probably pick up calls and keep it charging, just don't take cards on your pocket or they will be wiped.

(Hey, maybe they will adapt some windmill blades to generate clean free energy and keep the plug away lolol)
