It is a big iTouch...it can't even be put in with a netbook/laptop genre. Just another Apple product to show your friends that you got.

You can't call it an alternative to a MacBook when it doesn't have a tenth of the capabilities.

I think apple wasn't designing this to be a fully functional tablet computer, but more like a very awesome eReader, internet tablet. It blows the kindle and the Nook away with functionality and the ppln doesn't seem that bad 29.99 for unlimited data and no contract is nice. The resolution could be higher... as no HD, but the resolution was that way to keep it the same as the Iphone so direct compatibility with already existing apps. I still won't buy one as I hate everything apple, but people read too much into apple announcing a tablet and ran with it. It isn't a PC, it's a media center, and a good one.

Verizon Fans don't down apple for going to ATT, this is not a cell phone service it's a notebook you can still get it flush all your stupid ego issues and just enjoy it. What amazes me is all the Verizon commericals getting on ATT but apple goes with ATT with ipad. My question is what is the reason if Verizon has the largest 3g network ?

AT&T probably bent over (since they were already bent over) to accomodate Apple's request on the data fees, something VZW probably tried to stall Apple on (assuming there were talks to begin with.) As for VZW's 3G > AT&T 3G ... it's all about capital expenditures ... AT&T post-Cingular merger had to tend to the crybaby investors and couldn't divert as much profit back into the network ... while VZW has now for years given the finger (proverbially) to Vodafone when it comes to dividens as they've retained dividens historically to build what is called America's Largest and Most Reliable network. ps: I don't work for VZW.

Actually I think Android is a weak knock-off of iPhone OS, so you couldn't be farther from the truth with that one. Same ideology with poor implementation. Their latest "awesome" phone the Nexus One? All the rave pre-launch, now it's out and noone cares about it anymore, they're already talking about the "next" great Android phone.

You're obviously such a fucking moron that you believe your own madeup idiotic comments. They have a homescreen that looks nearly identical to an iPhone OS, they have widgets, what can the Android OS do that iPhone OS can't that's so important? You can multi-task, the only time I would ever need that is to listen to music while using other apps which iPhone can do. It's an open OS but I don't see any benefit to come of that yet. Android is HYPE and you're eating it all up.

Multitasking allows you to do so much more then just music. Ever tried to stream pandora and do anyything else? I rest my case on that. Android is themable, customizable, and compatible with other android phone apps. Every phone has icons on the main screen that's really not apples idea bro. And that's just stock adroid, try any of the home replacements (which apple cannot do) and things totally change. Not just colors and icons, yes I know jailbroken iphones get that shit, I'm talking about real chanes like sweeterhome preview 2 offers. And what about widgets huh? Iphone doesn't do those. What about app scrobbeling huh? Iphone doesn't do that. What about notification panel huh? Access to a full file system with the ability to send any file. What about ability to download any file off the web?

Why would i need to download any file on the web, or mail off any of the system files on my CELLPHONE? doesnt make alotta sense to me. and why would i wanna listen to pandora while being on a call or playing one of the MANY games on the iphone? i dont need a widget to tell me the weather, ill look outside for that. dont really care about themes or homescreen customizing, because im not gonna stare at my home screen....imma be online and play games and watch movies and such. the iphone is an amazing device...and depending on what part of the country youre in, its a really good cell phone. Dont be upset because you have to use a second rate droid phone.....verizon still loves you cause youre paying them waaaay to much money. :)

For being such an "outdated and boring piece of junk" phone, tell me why its in such high demand? IF IT WASNT FOR THE IPHONE PHENOMENON THE DROID WOULD HAVE NEVER HAPPENED. Everything about Apple is "locked down" but that is quality control. Its not open sourced because it doesnt need to be tweaked or twisted by the end user. Its great right outta the box. But this isnt about a cell phone. The iPad is a different execution of the everyday netbook, and because of that....is a great product.

LMMFAO!!!!! All you verizon fangirls who were crossing your fingers today for a vzw IPad or a vzw IPhone got nothing but a big F-U!! Not that I totally agree with the design of the IPad but it is a decent design and will work for most people who need something like that. As far as the IPhone goes maybe if apple wasn't so ego crazy and verizon didn't cripple the hell out of MOST of their phones to use their BS vzw navigator and lame ass music service they might have had a chance with the IPhone. It also didnt help that they were trying to shit on the IPhone with their commericials either. Apple has made it clear that it will continue to back At&t so at least for now all you vzw fangirls who were droolimg for the world's best smartphone (IPhone) on your network can keep dreaming and drooling and playing with your IPhone wannabe (Roid). Apple has clearly told verizon at least for now to go eat it.

You have no idea what you are talking about do you? After reading your post i wonder if your just Pro AT&T because they have the iphone and AT&t is the service your parents have. I suppose you wouldn't have a problem with the unreliable network if you stay within the town you live in and just take your phone to school to play with. I think Apple has a wonderful product when it comes to the iphone, however it baffles me why they insist on keeping the phone and a network with horrible performance. It is a nice phone and was alot of fun while i had mine. I switched to VZW over the HORRIBLE and i mean HORRIBLE network . I was unable to get a signal in most places i went unless it was a major city, Even then there were so many dead zones that if you wanted to have a conversation you would have to stop somewhere and talk. WHY WHY WHY???? cripple your device. The Iphone is a great multimedia device but really its is just that. As far as productivity the Touch pro 2 i have by far beats the iphone for buisness use. the iphone wins in the entertainment department. Your other point of VZW locking out features on the phones they offer is pathetic. Think about it A LA Itunes? Apple is doing the same thing verizon does but you are such a fangirl you are blind to it. If you want to do anything without going trough itunes you have to jaibreak your phone, Guess what you can do the same thing with windows phones as well with cooked roms. Good luck finding service with your iphone on the At&t network. Hey i did see they have an app for that it shows all the areas where your phone will work at. I think its a fairly small download .000000000000000000000000000000000000000001KB if i remember right after all there shouldn't be much space needed to identify those 2 areas where you have service.

Hey listen to this you two geniuses are idiots. Actually where I live in the greater DC area, At&t is GREAT. Fast download speeds and rarely dropped calls with 3G. I do travel often and have very relaible service with my network when i need it. If you read my post I said cripples MOST, not all. Naturally recent phones like the pre and the roid have not been crippled as much but besides having a couple of areas where it may surpass the iphone, overall we all know that the IPhone is KING. Pro touch 2 (little boy get real).

I don't really think the lack of VZW announcement was too big of a deal, as in "shocker". For now, Apple has an exclusivity with ATT. That's all we really know. We know it ends this Summer, but as far as how deep that exclusive deal runs, I think this announcement has just proven that. I'll be curious when the ATT/Apple exclusive ends what happens, but until then, I don't really expect anything less than an Apple product paired with ATT. And, if the iPhone isn't released on VZW this Summer/Fall, then I'll just be looking at the Android options; that coincidentally are getting better and better all the time anyway. But as far as this iPad goes...I'll be passing; at least until they make it worth my while.

To this post in perspective, I work for AT&T in the DMDR sales dept. I am one of the top sales agents on my team, and my product knowledge makes everyone else in the building simply seem retarded by comparison. The iPhone is our highest selling product. It is a great multimedia device, does apps and games very well, and being able to sync with iTunes is nice. It is also the biggest headache on every possible level. It drops calls like crazy, it has regulations placed on us by Apple on how we can sell it that hinders us...it's something that EVERY SINGLE ONE OF US here in the center was hoping would go to VZW today. It did not. Most of us here can't wait to get Android phones so we can start selling those instead of the iPhone, simply so we can stop having issues with the way that Apple forces us to handle things. For those complaining about AT&T service, know this; it's the iPhone that has the issue, not our network. I can be walking side-by-side on my LG Neon while my friend talks on his iPhone; his call will drop, mine will not. I don't know what it's like in places like NYC and LA because I don't live there, but where I live and all the places I travel (Vegas, Phoenix, Houston, SFO, Sac, Oakland, etc.), my phone works just fine. I'm not going to hate on VZW because a: I don't care and b: competition makes things better for consumers, which is the thing I think the fanboys here are either unable or unwilling to understand. If you like the Droid and VZW, I think that's great! The Droid is an awesome phone; many of us here have it. If you like the iPhone, that's also great! Some people it just works for; you like the apps, you like the simplicity, and you like Apple. Good for you. Both sides of this idiotic discussin just need to take a step back and breathe. Both phones and services are find. Stop slinging mud and just enjoy what you enjoy...unless you're so pathetic that you cannot enjoy what you have without making others feel bad about what they own. If that's the case, I pity you...or at least I would if I cared.

+1 Evo... But let me start off with sarcasm... How dare you state something that is market-driven fact. The iphone causes most problems, as all carriers world-wide have had similar, if not the exact same problems as the iPhone. And again how dare you bring to thiese people with small minds the fact that competition is better for the consumer and not a monopoly. These are shocking statements and I cannot allow you to be intelligent when posting on these blogs. For SHAME!!!! ;)

So if its all about the iphone causing the problems explain why my wifes phone and 2 of my kids phones all would say NO SERVICE when you went anywhere off of a major interstate. I know folks on the coast may love the at&t service, but if you live or travel aywhere else its a nightmare. At&t has a very limited coverage area and you can not argue this when compaired to VZW coverage area. Im not bashing the Iphone i loved having it as a toy. I would love to see one come to VZW just for the network relability. i have 2 phones one for buisness and one for personal use. If they would release an iphone for verizon i would make that my personal phone and be happy. Granted the Iphone had a few bugs once in a while like losing signal and having to remove the sim card and reinstall it to get service back. It was managable but when im on the road with a prisoner and i need to place a call and i see NO SERVICE on the screen for over 150 miles thats a huge problem. and by the way for those of your playing its the iphones fault card the sanyo phone i used for work said the same thing

Ya Evo! How can not successfully being able to switch towers correctly (the issue iPhones have) in anyway not be related to getting a signal (which is a static signal)?? Explain that! (for those of you whom are slow, that was sarcasm, they are two different functions) As for the verizon map, 75% of the US population has 3G, and a faster 3G than Verizon carries. No, there is no 3G service in backwater areas of Kentucky and areas like it, but the fact still remains that a HUGE portion of the US population has access to awesome 3G through AT&T. Yes, if you travel cross country, perpaphs another carrier might be better for you, but for most of us city folk, AT&T is just fine =)

Ahhhhh,, i was looking foward to reading all of the negative comments by the vzw people on here. It truly made my night. I have to honestly say myself that i am not in any way drooling over the ipad although i do find it kind of interesting. Anyways the ipad aside, i wanna discuss the iphone and android a bit. As stated before by me and others, the iphone is what it is (king) because of the way it revolutionized the way we use cell phones. Android is nice but is it revolutionary?? Most people who arent cell phone buffs dont even know what android is! And people cannot argue that its because android is new because it was out way before moto's droid. People knew what the iphone was right off the bat. Why is that? Because it revolutionized cell phones! Android did not revolutionize anything besides an open OS and as for multi tasking, who gives a shit honestly. People love itunes, the ease of use, the app store, web browser, etc on the iphone and thats why it continues to sell. Its as easy as that. Sooo, for all of the iphone haters, if you want the iphone to be dead, its gonna take ALOT more than Android to wipe the iphone away for good and at that point, itll be too late because apple will just come out with something else thats game changing. The end.

I dont know about apple coming out with anything truley game changing. they have a good product but if you look at the stuff they produce its all based on the same concept, Hell this device just looks like they made an oversize display model of the iphone/ipodtouch. i think they got lucky with the Iphone and yes effected the smartphone market bigtime but to say they revolutionized the way we use phones is an exaggeration. I would give credit to Palm etc for that. Iphone brought the hollywood appeal to smartphones which increased awarness but i dont feel that it revolutionized anything

The Droid has alot better ground than this device. When it hits AT&T's network their towers are going to be smoking. I mean, look what the iPhone alone did to their crappy network. With this on top of it, it'll cause a network meltdown haha. At least Android has open development and multitasking. And good luck with AT&T 3G, wherever it is.
