OMG I hope this is true! I won't have to carry around my Apple iTouch everywhere I go.

One of the things I wish Verizon would have done was not cripple the bluetooth - I have a Prius and I couldn't download the phonebook to the car - Verizon's comment was what if you gave the car a virus - I offered to sign a waiver they said no way, the guy behind me in line had a Lexus and he couldn't use the same feature.

I am a Verizon Blackberry user. I think that one of the reasons the iPhone is a strong device is because it is exclusive to one carrier. The problems that I run into with applications on the blackberry are that there are too many models on too many carriers. Every carrier has a different deal and different features enabled. For instance the Curve 8330 that I have is also available on Sprint. The Sprint model has full GPS capability. The Verizon model I have has the GPS blocked by Verizon so I can't use most of the GPS applications. I honestly believe that having the iPhone offered on several carriers is going to cause more harm and confusion than good. Especially when it comes to the applications. You may start to find applications that are specific to one carriers version of the handset. Apple is known for their minimalist approach. One model on one carrier equals a more efficient experience and less problems.

I disagree with the problems being software. It seems the only real hurdle is Verizon's CDMA network, which they are upgrading in 2010.You can't use the i{hone without some form of GPS. If Verizon disables it, sure, the device would be totally handicapped. But I doubt they'd do that. The iPhone really doesn't seem carrier specific. ATT sells it, but the marketing is done by Apple. Look at ATT ads. They rarely, if ever, mention the iPhone. They seem to push Samsung etc. The apps would be cross-platform and would not likely cause any problems. I'm sure Apple would keep it tightly controlled. The apps are built for the phone, not the network. The apps are mostly software based and I can't see the software per carrier being so vastly different that it would cause problems. Now, if they start offering all different types of hardware, we may see issues. I can see a smaller, less powerful and cheaper version of the phone, as in the way they brand their laptops. But hopefully, they won't go all Samsung-y on us! It would be huge for Verizon to get the iPhone. They have no comparable phone at the moment. They will most likely get the Pre, but even with a strong brand like Palm, the iPhone is far ahead in marketing and buzz.

as a verizon employee i am supposed to say how we get better service and that the strom is better than the iphone but its not! if verizon would stop being so damn stubborn than we can have the best phone out right now! and if apple has the iphone on several carriers than thats means more money for them bcuz yes they may be making money off the iphone but many ppl still switch to verizon bcuz they cant even get signal on there iphones cuz it runs thru the att network.

If verizon got the iphone then i would get it with whatever data plan they offer. The iphone has one BIG advantage overt blackberry storm, SIMPLICITY! I dont even bother trying to sell the storm to my customers bcuz they all come back complaining how they cant figure it and then they start bitching bout how the iphone is better. and ive actually played with an iphone and if verizon offered on with a 3mp camera then we could put att out of business. Even if verizon "cripples" the iphone it will still be better cuz u can have the iphone and STILL HAVE SIGNAL WHEN U PLACE A CALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! haha att ppl!!!!!
