Continuing his trip to China, Apple CEO Tim Cook on Thursday met with the Chairman of China Mobile, the only one of the country's three major carriers not to sell the Apple iPhone despite its status as the largest mobile operator in the world; Cook appeared optimistic that a deal could be worked out saying that China would soon be Apple's largest market...

Basically, he's going to beg China Mobile to offer iPhones. The first time Apple has to beg. Really nice.

Apple's power has diminished substantially. Tim Cook obviously brought the white flag to China Mobile.

Please...with Apple placed at number 6 in one of the world's largest market and to have the iphone p**sed on by China Mobile, Cook obviously has to fly there personally to get things done.
Well, if Cook brought his b**ls along for the trip, he might demand China Mobile make the 3g network compatible with the iPhone.
Also, everything is quite predictable with Apple.

Or maybe, if the network negotiations don't work, Cook has a plan B. Like i've said in an article before based on rumors that Apple planning to make affordable iPhones, Tim Cook might learn 'the art of cheap phone making 101'.

As a Chinese, and recall from last 10 yrs, Nokia has always been the proud phone supplier to China mobile, and it's flagship phones changed annually give carriers huge profit.
In china, it's not so about true quality of phone; it's about popularity, and if a phone is not, you can make it popular. So doesn't matter what phone China Mobile gets, it'll make it popular...trust me.
Another thing about phone sales in China is cheap, nokia has long been the provider of cheap phones in China.
Smart Nokia... and Samsung is joining the cheat&popular(expensive) categories..also smart.
But Apple is stubborn...as we always know

U no wat, China should start exporting their phones more. Phones like Oppo ,if marketed well ,should definitely give others a run for der money. Especially dey hav d potential to dominate d mid-budget category.

even as a Chinese patriot, I have to be honest and say Chinese phones lack innovation in general. They just copy others. That's what Chinese as good at, copy...not inventing..
You can argue that oppo or asus are doing good job, but oppo's and Xiaomi's UI is just pure ugly...they can make the phones look pretty, but the powerful design and smooth UI...they just can't copy
