0. phoneArena posted on 14 Feb 2012, 19:01

While Apple CEO says that Amazon will sell many units of its low-priced Amazon Kindle Fire tablet, he also suggests that many buyers will have "soured" on it after using it; Cook also said that he is pessimistic about making a cheap version of the Apple iPhone for the pre-paid market...

Just becuase kindle fire is cheap doesnt mean its bad!

thats to u.. to others might want all the apps the ipad gives, and the bigger screen. i sincerely hope apple sticks with its quality products though and doesnt start making cheap tablets and cheap phones…

25. ghost__uwi posted on 15 Feb 2012, 15:28

agreed. I want quality. Some ppl just want a tablet. Too each there own.

When you run a billion dollar company, you always put your product first. It's your product. I'm sure the share holders of amazon are saying the exact opposite. i.e. - You'll never see Michael Jordan talk about Adidas shoes or let other shoes compare when he talks about his brand. It is what it is. Other than that, on the consumer end, it's just preference and opinion.

4. dreammixer (banned) posted on 14 Feb 2012, 19:28 4

Exactly you can't expect him to talk up the Kindle like its great seeing he runs Apple

6. Paden posted on 14 Feb 2012, 19:56 8

Exactly. Cook isn't going to speak positively about competitors at a conference. The fact that he talked about it at all says something about the Kindle Fire making waves in the tablet market.

"THE KINDLE FIRE IS WAAAY BETTER FOR THE PRICE." - Tim Cook

Could you imagine?!

5. solidsnakeduds013 posted on 14 Feb 2012, 19:45 1

To me the kindle fire is more of a child's tablet. It's cheap which is the only plus it has but when its compared with the ipad the kindle is boring. I also think Tim is right. Spending that amount on a tablet in cash is a good feeling but after the first day or 2 its a let down for its features and hardware

7. Exofuji posted on 14 Feb 2012, 20:12 5

Uhm iLAWLERSKATES? What *Besides the obvious physical differences, and os* does the ipad offer that the Kindle Fire doesn't? What is it that the Kindle Fire can't do that the ipad can? Can you justify the price difference in a way that make legitmate sense?

*Reality: The price difference is clearly only legitimized through perceived brand superiority.

/End

10. Lucas777 posted on 14 Feb 2012, 20:47 1

u kind of ruled out all opposition through everything a tablet has "besides the obvious physical differences, and os"… what exactly is left? the box?

15. CRICKETownz posted on 14 Feb 2012, 21:45

lol im glad to see i'm not the only one who noticed that statement.

17. Exofuji posted on 14 Feb 2012, 22:51

Exactly. $200

18. Lucas777 posted on 14 Feb 2012, 23:29 2

so ur saying there are absolutely no physical or os differences between an ipad and a kindle fire? i guess we just found a knew definition for ignorant/blind

21. Exofuji posted on 15 Feb 2012, 02:48

I have not once said that they are exactly the same, I asked a question and gave my personal answer. Clearly the point of my original post was that the differences between the two do not warrant the differences in price. Your statement is of no value to anyone.

28. Lucas777 posted on 15 Feb 2012, 17:14

are u kidding me… u said "Besides the obvious physical differences, and os"… there is nothing left to a tablet so u obviously dont think those have any merit in a tablet, as i do not see anything more than the box… the thing is by not allowing such differences, there ARE NO DIFFERENCES… a tablet is OS and HARDWARE… oh and ur statement is of no value as well..

23. LoneShaolin posted on 15 Feb 2012, 13:36

Jesus Lucas, it's spelled NEW. Not knew. Maybe you typed that out on your iPad?

27. Lucas777 posted on 15 Feb 2012, 17:11

jesus grammar nazi… did that spelling really offend you that much?

16. jimjam posted on 14 Feb 2012, 21:47 2

Skype, voip, microphone, bigger storage options, 3g option etc ... to name but a few.

8. andrwroepke posted on 14 Feb 2012, 20:34 3

To Exofuji. Kindle Fire only has access to the Amazon app store, the smallest app store out there. The iPad has access to 90,000 plus apps, so there are about 85,000 more things the iPad can do that Kindle cannot.
Kindle has no camera or front camera. Kindle has no accelerometer. Kindle has no gyroscope. So no gaming whatsoever. Kindle doesn't have a 3g radio. Kindle doesn't have a microphone. Kindle doesn't have a video output. Kindle is not bluetooth enabled. Kindle is not password protected. Kindle does not have cloud storage. The iPad is a far more capable machine. I can think of many legitimate reasons to own an iPad over a kindle. Reality!

Hey sunshine, everyone got different need. A lot of people would prefer paying for tablet with functions that they could actually USE, rather than "Oh look at me I got **** load of perks on my devices that I probably will never use, and I'm paying top dollars for it" tablet.

13. dreammixer (banned) posted on 14 Feb 2012, 21:02 2

So now specs don't matter, but when an android tablet has better specs then the iPad sucks?

He was responding to exo who said there was nothing extra the iPad offered

14. Giggity posted on 14 Feb 2012, 21:17 3

You have no reading comprehension don't you? Clearly, the guy I'm responding to claiming the iPad at $500 would be a better buy just because it has more perks than the Kindle Fire.

All I said is certain people would prefer certain device without a long list of specs, just to surf the web and reading books. So why the hell would you want to pay the extra that you don't need?

Even if specs matter, Android would offer better specs and even better pricing.

In conclusion for Android:
. You get more for what you paid, OR
. You paid for what you need

Hey mister, ever heard of this super-popular thing called ROOTING? Yeah - you know - this thing which your stupid iPad will NEVER be able to perform? And you know why? Because on an iPad you CAN'T change your Operating system, that's why. Oh and guess what - on the kindle fire - you can! So all these software related idiotic claims you made - are absolute bull. Your iPad CAN'T EVEN PLAY MP3 FILES DOWNLOADED FROM THE WEB FFS.

12. Luuthian posted on 14 Feb 2012, 20:59 1

Is it just me, or is this guy really level headed? From his comments, he just doesn't sound like the kind of person who is rough around the edges. He actually sounds optimistic, and about more then just his company.

So far I like what I hear from Cook in interviews.

Even though Apple is a greedy company with overprice product which not all people can afford. I'm amazed to see how powerful their marketing impact is. Anything they said made the news headline. They seem to have a philosophy of the consumer market. No wonder Steve Job was a marketing guy.

22. 05blacksrt4 posted on 15 Feb 2012, 12:10 2

Apple makes a sharp looking product but the biggest thing if your gonna argue between tabs is thaat android tabs are 3g-LTE service and apple is only 3g until possibly the pad3. Other big differ is apple cannot play flash player which android can. Rooting is cool I agree but you can alos jailbreak iphones and do some cool s**t on them as well. Android you are gonna pay a pretty penny for but gain alot, Ipad still somewhat high price and not the same benefits. But to me its all in what you need and want to do with it.

26. ghost__uwi posted on 15 Feb 2012, 15:29

I must say his response is not as fun as Steve Jobs. Steve Jobs usually got the ppl stirring and hating. His is so neutral its like... oooooo...
