Antenna issues delaying the Motorola DROID RAZR HD and RAZR MAXX HD?
0. phoneArena 28 Sep 2012, 11:18 posted on
The Motorola DROID RAZR HD and MAXX HD may be delayed due to antenna issues, caused not only by the size and location of the antennas, but also since they make contact with the external edges of the device, which can cause the signal to degrade over time as the user touches them.

Not good Motorola, not good at all. Please iron these issues out ASAP.

Don't worry about it. Motorola are pioneers in wireless infrastructure all around the globe...if anyone can produce a stellar antenna its Moto!
7. Phullofphil (Posts: 796; Member since: 10 Feb 2009)
I can't believe this was even alowed to get this far. You would think they have the experience and know how to foresee this problem with the current design!

Trust me, even if this rumour is true, this will be resolved 'before the holidays' as Motorola doesn't want another BIONIC.
Worst case scenario, they can always get Tim Cook to say, "iSorrrryyyy......"
23. ScottSchneider (Posts: 229; Member since: 06 Dec 2011)
Yeah... Unlike Apple... Releasing the product and saying its a beta version... At least Moto is trying to get the issue fixed...
2. mas11 (Posts: 1011; Member since: 30 Mar 2012)
It's kinda ironic since Motorola is known for using some of the best radios in their devices. Now I might just get the SIII or just wait for the Nexus...
3. gallitoking (Posts: 4623; Member since: 17 May 2011)
surprise surprise Motorola having another delay...hope is not like the Bionic
8. Aeires (unregistered)
At least they are fixing it before rolling it out the door. Wise decision, too bad not all companies think that way.
15. maxican16 (Posts: 361; Member since: 29 Sep 2011)
Yeah, I guess some companies have a higher standard of excellence than to cop out and say, "You're holding it wrong."
19. gallitoking (Posts: 4623; Member since: 17 May 2011)
well if they delay too much will hurt sales.. a few here already said wil move to buy another device.. soo wise move then Moto..
29. RORYREVOLUTION (Posts: 2839; Member since: 12 Jan 2010)
No dude, if they release a FAULTY device that will hurt not only the sales but Motorola's rep as one of the best wireless cell phone suppliers ever. Motorola might not have the best software or high end specs, but when it comes to their cell phone radio and signal strength, there is NOBODY better.
People will get over a delay, they won't get over having a device they spent 200-300 on and can't even use it properly. You'll be hearing a lot of noobs yell "I'M NEVER BUYING ANOTHER MOTOROLA DEVICE AGAIN!!!"
So yea let them delay it. as long as they don't pull another Droid RAZR on us, that is.
42. Hemlocke (unregistered)
Truthfully, these devices are DOA. If you don't care about unlocked bootloaders and tinkering, you have a much better choice in the iPhone 5 or a WP8 device. If you do love Android, you don't buy a Moto, because they are the worst offender for making it difficult to ROM, and their phones are performance turds.
43. Sniggly (Posts: 6400; Member since: 05 Dec 2009)
And the winner for "Doesn't know what the hell he's talking about" today is: HEMLOCKE!
You seriously can't think of any reason to buy a Motorola device at all?
How about the fact that their battery life is usually excellent compared to other phones, their phones are built like tanks, and have better signal and call quality than competitors?
No? All right, how about the fact that on Verizon at least, their software support is pretty good, and performance wise, their phones are really not bad at all. I should know. I have a Motorola phone that I use as a secondary when needed. It does just fine. The only two bits that their competitors beat them on at this point are camera and screen performance. That's it.
10. MorePhonesThanNeeded (Posts: 612; Member since: 23 Oct 2011)
Well honestly it's better than knowingly releasing a phone with bad antenna design then tell your faithful that they are holding it wrong and you Apple freaks bow down and said yes Almighty Jobs. If this is true then Moto will fix it because this is the Razr line, not the place holder Bionic. Top of the line means top quality, lets just hope they get a bloody good camera sensor in there, tired of noisy photos.

I have to agree with gallito in part cause I'm waiting for this phone bad, I can't stand the nexus no more.
Play it safe sure but I really hope it doesn't turn a mess like the bionic.
I won't get a crapsung again!
My next choice would be HTC phablet but no sure about hat kind of size yet..
18. Griffin (Posts: 14; Member since: 13 Jan 2010)
Another Bionic debacle in the making.....They are going to be late to the show again and the new nexi among other new phones will be out from HTC and Samsung. Even with Google, Motorola continues to shoot themselves in the foot.
31. Berzerk000 (Posts: 3495; Member since: 26 Jun 2011)
I'm sure everyone would much rather have a delayed device that has no issues over an on track device filled with problems.
4. trentsinmypants (Posts: 303; Member since: 29 Jan 2009)
Maybe Apple is going to fire back with how good their antennas.....oh wait.....
6. drazyw (unregistered)
Adding this to my "Avoid" list. Reception will suck on these.
9. blade19 (Posts: 55; Member since: 29 Apr 2011)
It does suck that it may be delayed a bit. But at least, this time, they are acknowledging that it is a problem and trying to fix it as soon as possible, rather than releasing them in its current state.
12. shamatuu (Posts: 54; Member since: 02 Nov 2011)
I was thinking about getting it by now no thanks.
13. bubbadoes (Posts: 307; Member since: 03 May 2012)
Motorola, by far has the best radios in their phones!! I really miss the Motorola signal/sound quality I had in my Bionic with my current SG3. Believe me, if a problem exist--they will fix it.
17. trentsinmypants (Posts: 303; Member since: 29 Jan 2009)
in six months to a year. Anyone remember the keyboard issue with the Droid X, X2, and Droid2 Global?
21. Droid_X_Doug (Posts: 5145; Member since: 22 Dec 2010)
I hate to say it, but... it looks like Moto is going to lose this sales cycle. Too many compelling flagship handsets are going to be available before Moto sorts out their 'issues'.
26. KingKurogiii (Posts: 5470; Member since: 23 Oct 2011)
it will still be a compelling choice in the market. reps only have to say three words about it to get people's attention nowadays and that's "great battery life" that's why the MAXX outsold the 4S there for a minute there if i'm not mistaken.
48. winthorpe (Posts: 10; Member since: 22 Feb 2012)
Like what? I mean for Android. What's coming soon for Verizon in solid specs competition with the GS3 that can actually take a drop like a phone?
Maybe I missed the news on Arena.

Just release unfinished that's what apple does.
24. othello_bad (Posts: 7; Member since: 20 Apr 2012)
It never ceases to amaze me how an article has nothing to do with Apple, yet Apple becomes the center of discussion. Sounds like an obsession.
28. PotDragon (banned) (Posts: 214; Member since: 22 Jul 2011)
Someday you will get used to it.
30. othello_bad (Posts: 7; Member since: 20 Apr 2012)
Hopefully, some day you will find somewhere else to divert your energies. A life, maybe? No, that's wishful thinking. Who am I kidding? lol
32. chaoticrazor (Posts: 2347; Member since: 28 Aug 2012)

I happened to notice a comment on the first page. You just proved your own point. You read all these comments to find mine. Logged in and decided to commented on a statement that was not related to you. Hmm... very interesting.

27. azartrus (Posts: 1; Member since: 28 Sep 2012)
Ugh this is bad news. I've been waiting for this phone for awhile now since getting my upgrade. Hopefully Motorola will address this issue fast because they will definately loose sales due to other phones by the end of November if not earlier. I will hold out for this phone till mid November, after that if still no phone then I will most likely go with an HTC model..
get it together motorola
36. Nadr1212 (Posts: 741; Member since: 22 Sep 2012)
They better not cause I'm planning 2 buy a razr maxx HD in the future.
Oh almost forgot, ANOTHER POOR REC DROID?!? They made older ones with anntena issues? You've GOT 2 step up yo game, bra!!!!
37. Nadr1212 (Posts: 741; Member since: 22 Sep 2012)

Hahahahahahaha moto is a joke. Apple still reigns
44. Sniggly (Posts: 6400; Member since: 05 Dec 2009)
Oh sure. Motorola, the company which releases phones with the best battery life, durability, and signal strength/call quality, is a joke.
And Apple, which has been eviscerated for Maps and many other things, is not.
45. McSteezy (Posts: 22; Member since: 18 Aug 2012)
I can't wait to get my Motorola Droid Razr Maxx Hd
46. taz89 (Posts: 1891; Member since: 03 May 2011)
good they are trying to sort this out ASAP as these phones look good but honestly after the the cancellation of updates for high speced Devices will never consider a Motorola device.. What's the point of having a good device if you can't be assured of at least an update.. Was going to get my sister a razr m next week but not anymore.. Most likely get her anything that doesn't say Motorola.. Lol even a single core Huawei is getting ics update and Motorola dual core phones are not.. bloody ridiculous
47. jdubis (Posts: 12; Member since: 15 Jan 2012)
If this is true then Motorola which is powered by google will have this fixed before launch. Also by looking at the images it would not appear that the antennas are touching the casing. On the other side there could be a reason for the design. Either way its not apple and they will not issue a faulty device.
Also there are a million different style and sizes of antennas so, just because someone on howard fourms claims this doesnt mean it is true. Just remember the iphone 5 is the best iphone since the iphone, not the best smartphone.
49. MotorolaAndroidIndonesia (Posts: 24; Member since: 18 Apr 2011)
Shame on you, Phone Arena. Phone Arena wrong. Long time ago, Phone Arena says Motorola Droid Bionic Cancel; but in fact Motorola Droid Bionic Release. Now you says "Antenna issues delaying the Motorola DROID RAZR HD and RAZR MAXX HD?" Motorola answer your fail news with this answer DROID RAZR HD & DROID RAZR MAXX by Motorola deliver long-lasting battery life with a vivid 4.7-inch HD display. On October 18, both devices will be available in stores at Verizon Wireless with DROID RAZR HD starting at $199.99 and DROID RAZR MAXX HD starting at $299.99." You have no brain, Phone Arena.

What a shame, Phone Arena. Phone Arena give wrong information again. Motorola Droid Razr HD and Motorola Droid Razr Maxx HD will release 18 October 2012. Look this linkhttp://www.droid-life.com/2012/10/11/verizon-makes-it-official-droid-razr-hd-and-maxx-hd-launching-october-18
