Its not happening anytime soon. Verizon is launching 4g in a couple months in many major markets. Why, as a company like Apple, would you launch a CDMA (3g) phone when the company is looking at launching LTE (4g)??? Bad business, so not happening. Call me in June.

Didn't they launch a 2g Iphone with 3g available?

How do you know it will not be a 4G capable iPhone? Apple likes to be on the cutting edge of things, and there are rumors of other 4G LTE handsets coming soon.

I agree that there would be no point of putting a 3g only iphone on VZW. All the signs seem to point to a january announcement/launch... since ATT supposedly loses exlusivity in 2011. If it does launch in january, LTE will be up and running on much of VZW's network, and though i really do hate all things apple, having an iphone4-LTE as one of the first launch smartphones on the LTE network would be a huge mega seller. I cant wait to see ATT's quarterlys after that happens.. lol

Ever think that they might make it a 3G/4G phone? It would actually be wise to do so since the whole nation isn't going to get covered in Verizon 4G over night. The CDMA would be for the 3G and the GSM SIM would be for LTE which is a GSM network.

if it has 4g "connectivity" it would make sense. if for some reason they make them tri mode, meaning it will run CDMA AND LTE, that would be likely. if its just CDMA, i dont see the point...

Is there a reason this production is definitely not the iphones they make for the China market as I thought one of the very large carriers there uses CDMA?

why is this still do demanded? i have played with iphones and much prefer my droid x and mainly andriod over ios but hey they say it'll be a rumor until its released i say it will be a rumor until people see apple hasnt really overhauled and upgraded this device since its debut phones arent like trucks where a person will stick with a sturdy build and design for a lifetime people want next gen technology and cutting edge customizability that i phones just dont offer now ...yes 3 or 4 years ago it was the shit now its just another dog in the race. the top feature on this phone is its touted display ....can any of you really tell at a glance and with regular use its any better than the drodx or evo's? i didnt think so unless this device is a different kind of monster with verizon i dont see pushing our androids out of the way we have grown to love and plus the way big red likes to limit devices is similar to how apple limits them i just dont see this ever coming to fruition or not until steve jobs needs some milk money

first off the first guy that commented FIRST is a complete retard...secondly, for all of you to doubt this is laughable. the recent swing in smartphone sales on verizon is a build up of things to come. VZW will be the first cell phone company to launch LTE so you have to ask yourselves, as customers, a couple things: 1. Verizon is pumping out smartphones like its nobody's business, that means they are serious players in this game, why wouldnt they take on the i phone? 2. Verizon is also on the cutting edge of wireless technology, and with that said they would not only launch the 4g network in 30 major markets this fall/winter, but what better to draw in switchers and new customers, then to put 3 million i phones with that check mark logo on it that has 3/g 4/g connectivity, so that everyone in the country AND ESPECIALLY on verizon that doesnt have either a smartphone or an i phone will want and have to have one? Come on people this is a no brainer! all the past rumors throughout the past few years have been nothing short of bullsnot until now! this is the time that verizon is going to try to crush all competition, when their is so much market saturation and less net adds then ever before, why wouldnt this make sense. I agree if it is only 3 g they would shoot themselves in the foot, but we are not talking about a blackberry storm launch here... we are talking about the most sought after cell phone or gadget in the world today the I PHONE verizon has had tons of time to figure out their marketing strategy and ask what their customers want, and the number one answer is they want the i phone. AND COPY AND PASTE THIS COMMENT INTO YOUR NOTEPADS PEOPLE THE I PHONE WILL BE ON VERIZON WIRELESS AS A 3G/4G DEVICE COME THE FIRST MONTH OF 2011! DONT SAY I DIDNT TELL YOU SO !!!!

yeah totally agree, there is a reason verizon is bulking up their staff for the end of the year and i mean almost twice the staff they have in stores, because there is going to be a lot more customers coming in the start of 2011.

are you serious? lol metro pcs leases services from the major networks and does not have the money to "launch" anything. its funny as well you put them in the same sentence as verizon. i hope all cusotmers like you stay with metro, you dont deserve quality. if you hate the i phone so much .. why are you even reading this comment or thread? i feel as though your a bit jealous... your credit not go through for a real cell phone? lol

Hey numberonenygfan -- Not sure where you get your information from but it's wrong. MetroPCS has their own network in 19 markets. They do have roaming agreements with a couple other carriers but they DO have their own network. They even beat Verizon to LTE network. However, they are transmitting LTE on a very narrow band, so you won't get Verizon LTE speeds but it will be 3G or better, which was really the point since they skipped the 3G rollout. MetroPCS was still on 2.5. Now they have caught up to everyone else and can technically brag they have LTE (even if speed will be slower).

doesnt matter man they arent in the discussion... why would you even bring them up when such a small amount of the population actually has metro? i cant stand people like you who have to bring in the little guy into what we are talking about which is the i phone on verizon. not metro. keep your tiny network and your profound knowledge of a company no one cares about.

Really! Who cares. The Android operating system is way better the IPhone, and you can plug in your own memory card and change your battery if it dies. Long live open architecture, (screw Apple).

I agree, it really is amusing. All these rumors and talk is enough to make your head spin! For me personally, I believe that vzw will get the iphone, its just a matter of when. I cant see them killing holiday sales to release it before january so we will just have to see how that goes.

HAHA... how about this for a crazy little rumor/theory. CMDA iphone production is for the launch of the iPhone in China. Plain and simple. Analysts getting their panties in a bunch... halarious!

Why would a CDMA Iphone have to go to Verizon? Sprint is a CDMA network, and I'm sure that there might be CDMA networks overseas and the CDMA Iphone might not even hit the US.

I spoke with someone today personally. i dont want to say the names, because i dont want anyone to get in trouble, BUT you can be rest assured it was a RELIABLE source. (if someone wants to e-mail me from phonearena, message me on here and we can talk, maybe get a name out) BUT there will never be a such thing as an iPhone or apple-anything associated with the verizon name on it. verizon has the samsung fascinate. a phone that has a similar UI feel to it, and best of all, its ANDROID! lot lousy iOS garbage that came on the sticker speedometer of my big wheel when i was 2 years old.
