Another OTA update for the Motorola DROID has started
One of the most anticipated smartphones of last year was the Motorola DROID for Verizon. Since its release last November, the device received a firmware upgrade the following month, which resolved a number of issues and gave it Android 2.0.1 status. Since then, we've been awaiting a new update, rumored to be out on Jan 22, in the hopes that it would bring Android 2.1, but it appears that is still a ways off. There are now reports that the Jan 22 update may be making its way onto some DROID phones as early as today, while others are saying it's some type of Facebook app refresh. If your DROID gets an update, let us know in the comments section below.

I got 'poked' Friday night. Could see no benefit, same build number. I saw another site mention the possible allowance of the download of Facebook from the Android Market; which was previously denied. Sure enough, I could and did download it. I see no difference in the updated FB vs. what came with the device. Maybe it a stealth 'fix' similar to the AT&T FB bug. Who knows, who cares, etc.

It is an update for facebook. I have had customers come in with the droid where it wouldnt update your notifications in the facebook app and my droid as well had issues with facebook updates and always recieved an error message. 2.1 probably will not see the light of day until end of february.
