Another Nokia Lumia 925 photo test demonstrates its low-light shooting skills

0. phoneArena 16 May 2013, 09:22 posted on

As a rule of thumb, smartphones have a really hard time taking a decent photo in low-light conditions, but Nokia wants to convince us that its Lumia 925 is an exception. The proof? A low-light photo shootout, of course! On its official blog, the company just posted a set of photos comparing the Nokia Lumia 925 camera's performance in low light against that of several of its competitors...

Nokia are using like from from the "Focusing light" to create an HDR light low light image.

Nice software trick but you can see that the image isn't slightly authentic.

So the focusing light captures the image before the shutter key is pressed and then both the images are merged together to give a single stitched image? LOL WTF

Give me a break ! If you´re looking for a portable camera (really camera) do like I did, I bought a Sony DSC TX-66 and is ALWAYS in my pocket. NO reason to buy the last phone ever and ever and ever. My S3 with xda rom updated (30fps movies and High bitrate audio) do a nice job with CameraPro APK , and is really a SmartPhone !!! The rest (photos and movies) ... my little one Sony is UNBEATABLE ! Don´t waste your money. By the way .... S4 photos outdoors are AMAZING, put it side by side Nokia !

Exactly. I took a similar path with the Sony RX100. A camera for camera stuff and my Note II for smartphone stuff.

but the point is most only want to carry one device and some want an excellent camera on there phones

carrying both a note 2 and camera is abit much

Not for me. The Note II and the RX100 are the best of both worlds. Well, I guess I could go with an RX1, but that is a $2,800 cost of entry.

Please look at google and youtube and you see the dimensions of a Sony TX66. No reason to spend money in celular-camera ! Is minimum size and best shots. Regards

id rather just carry my 808 and have it all in one device.

whatever the size carrying 2 devices is abit much day to day and ofcourse means you could loose one (it happens)

if someone wants to thats upto them all im saying is most would prefer to have an all in one device....proof is everywhere....i.e. the note 2 wouldnt sell if people decided to just buy a normal phone and a tablet to carry round. but it does sell because it does all the tablet can with a smartphone integrated at a decent size for most

As I said ... the key is the price. If you´re looking for cheap and good camera, a thinner and portable costs less. I also prefer all-in-one but... with full camera resolution. I´ll wait the Samsung camera S4 just to see what they offer.

Ohhh ! A Sony RX100 in my country (Brasil) costs at about $ 1,200 !!! My TX66 is not as good but is thin and fits on my pocket in EVERY situation ! If you want to take best photos ... take your camera with you !

take ur break m@r@n, u really need a big time break so u can shoot everything vid the camera in ur pocket. Roflmao.... if u really need a camera, carry n slr instead nokia phone cameras are better then pt and shoot anyday. Why carry pt n shoot everywhere?? This excuze dat u carry camera in ur pocket and dont like a phone fr its camera is quite immature, either ur a freak or smthng is nt gud vid u. Even professional photographers dnt carry camera everytime(and fyki they dnt carry pt and shoot at all). Its lyk ur saying dat i carry my psp portable everwhere i go to play games, and dnt care bout android games.. U cant carry ur pt n shoot everywhre and everytime then do visit a psychiatrist. If the same technology is in ur phone( dat u carry more often) then why the hell make a fuss bout it??thats what smartphone should do( multiuse). u guys really make me laugh and make my stomach ache out f such humour. Grow up and before u pick a camera in ur pocket wipe ur running nose first kid. .

I think Samsung is paying Stephen Elop in order not to switch to Android because they've realised that they have no chance against Nokia with Android.

so much denial, they are building on the 920 a device already proven to be better then any other device for low light so maybe you should stop your bs and accept it

your stupid you know why you forgot nokia lied in there lumia 920 commercial and used Dslr with the girl on the bicycle so why should we believe nokia as a source each company will make anything to make there product look better and fake anything to win. i will believe this when the source is not nokia thank you.

why are people like you allowed to comment your bs

go to comment 24 and shut up. maybe we should all live in the past like you muppets.

a one time mistake that they admitted and then still proved the 920 did what they claimed in your eyes means they always lie ...your pathetic

did you know samsung lied about a phone having flash, i guess this means i cant trust samsung on anything they do now by your idiot logic

id love to see whats behind these troll accounts as your comments are almost duplicates of other accounts comments

im with you chaoticrazor i agree about Samsung lying but i wish one more source will confirm this results the one result i don't believe is the htc one i think its better than this in low light i think its tight up there with nokia in low lights because i have an htc one and its so much better than this

well HTC have had some faulty devices and bad luck in these comparisons where the results are poor.

id say that maybe this is the case and HTC one would have performed better then it did, that been said id say the HTC would be near the 920 and this 925 would be better thanks to nokia's polishing there tech

whats real funny and nothing against you is you agree with me and get green thumbs yet i get the fanboys red thumbing me .......the state the comment sections in is unbelievable

As a Nokia fan i have to say This is stupid! (nok's sole focus on cameras). How often do people use their cameraphones in any given day? They should focus on improving the entire phone like battery and display nd s**t...

well your not a nokia fanboy, ive seen your comments you use that line alot to hide your slating

and this has more real world application then those gimmicky features people brag about. plus nokia have addressed the screen so its not just the camera

battery is an area motorola used to focus on , others dont give as much thought to

I feel so offended coz you called me a samsung fanboy. But i see where you're coming from. Its because i always criticize nokia. Its only because i'm tired of seeing flagship comparisions where the nokia is always the loser. I want nokia to be where it once was, on top... Raping the others!

how do they lose?
hardware? nokia is a pioneer at that part.
apps? blame MS.
powerful specs? those are just numbers. if you know some engineering stuff and software, wp8 is really optimized compared to android.

people are making android the basis of those "higher specs = better " . although the quote is true, android still lags and hangs in quadcore. where wp is happy in dualcore alone.

wow! very good low light results. i hope next nokia flagship will also upgrade the hardware. a quad core possesor(snap 800 plz) and a 2gb RAM will show wonders in sales and performance.

Lol windows 8 is not as powerful os as Android. So it should run well for atleast 1 more year on the outdated hardware with 256-1gb ram without any problem. And the price of current dual core phones by nokia is same as octacore phone(s4),so just wondering what will be the price of quad core version.Actually i think that nokia should stop making phones and start making cameras, cos they are good at it.

After seeing HTC One low light shots in person, I'm thinking that shot was doctored. I don't even like HTC devices, but the one we have here takes pictures much better that what this photo is representing. Maybe it is the real deal, but when the source link is from Nokia themselves, it kinda raises a few red flags.

maybe its another case of a faulty HTC device which is bad if so

either way no one can take away the 925 seems to have taken the low light crown

Could be. The One put up some okay photos before the final update, but the final version is great. I mean like on par with the photo tagged as the 925. The only way to tell for sure is with a third party comparison.

galaxy s4 in auto mode gives unpleasent results at dark scenes
if you set it to hdr (and in very dark situations to night) mode it shines
