Why can't they just incorperate the Gmail App with the default Android Mail Client?

I read that the API that was used to access Gmail messages (both on the Gmail widget and the Gmail dock notifications) was removed in this version of the Gmail app. Apparently the API does not meet modern security standards.

What this means for users is that once they update to this new version, the Gmail widget and the Gmil dock notifications will stop working, and even potentially crash the launcher if you try to use them.

I was reading the comments about the latest Gmail app as well as checking FriendCaster. I am rather unhappy with what I have read about the latest Gmail update.

FriendCaster is a Facebook app that has a very good feature that I like. Notifications actually work. I set up Facebook to email notifications to my email account. FriendCaster integrates with Gmail, so that when a new email from Facebook appears, FriendCaster plays my notification tone.

It appears the latest Gmail update breaks the integration that FriendCaster had to get Facebook updates. The latest FriendCaster update was forced to remove this option as it no longer works. I am very unhappy that the latest Gmail update disables the feature on an app I paid for solely for this one feature. For this reason, I am not going to download the latest Gmail app or FriendCaster.

I am very upset that Google breaks a feature of an app that I paid for and that feature was the only reason I decided to pay for the app. I'm glad I did not update either app.

Give it some time Stuntman. The thing with software is that updates often make or break things, they'll be fixed in due time.

what I have noticed is that finally there's button called 'download' but in fact you cannot download i.e. office files. It acts the same way as "preview" button. The lack of attachment download function was the main drawback of the previous version

I to am disappointed with the Gmail prog' that came already installed in my new toy,
Arnova 10G2. So dark.
Found Ymail prog' open and clear with all the facilities I require, and only one letter difference between the two.
Can anyone send me a screenshot of the 'new' Gmail app?
