Android users more promiscuous, while iPhone fans more educated, survey says

AYI.com, an online dating site that integrates with Facebook in order to help you find the love of your life, released a survey that gives us some insight on “which mobile brand's singles are the most desirable” - iPhone users or those who sport and Android smartphone. The website examined the profiles of some 13,690 of its mobile users in the USA in order to compare their demographic characteristics, which treats us to some more than curious findings...

what a rubish survey
there are tons of cheap android phones which cost under $100 whereas any iphone is expensive.
"The survey should have done comparing main android flagships vs iphone"
EVEN MY DOG CAN TELL THIS SURVEY IS TOTALLY INVALID

Lol so does that mean I am construction worker? rofl

PhoneArena, that was probably the single worst article I have ever read. Pointless and completely invalid.

Exactly, these are stupid studies that aim to become famous nothing more. If you compared anything between iphone and android users you will get results but whether they are meaningful is the question, by anything I mean anything like tall, weight, favorate food, favorite colour, shoes size or even whether they wipe their A** or not, but this is meaningless unless there is real connection, ie people use their phone to wipe their sh**

Anyway this statistics are based only on 13,690 users in United States so it can be far away from global situation.
Here is other interesting infographic:
"Apple vs Android – an infographic on the rivalry"
I have send this link to PhoneArena but looks like they for some reasons were not interested.

Not only that, but this survey draws from a very small segment of the U.S. population. 83% of iOS users make over $150,000, and 70% of Android users make over $60,000? Both of these income brackets are much higher than the average American single.

See there's a huge flaw in relying on big data and even big companies (say Google) got ahead of themselves like this one timehttp://pocket.co/s5rvD?cta=1
74. refillable (Posts: 831; Member since: 10 Mar 2014)
Definitely that 'very small segment' of the population is contained with rich-a** people who knows nothing about technology and in some way 'educated' because of the amount of dollars their parent has.
Well anyway I don't have to say this though... It's OK though.

An online dating site spewing stats on our phones? Ok...let's just pretend for a moment that no one on this dating site lies lol. This isn't really anything to put stock into or trust as factual information. But we can be sure that this is a desperate attempt at 'fruit' recognition as they really do need all the help they can get these days to stay relevant :-)

Apple is dying? again??? It doesn't matter where the survey was made. You can check all the previous ones similar to this and they all had the same conclusion. I'm sure this is not the first time you've heard of this.

This study must be hiddenly sponsored by apple to create an image that apple users are more likely to be approached and get a date and by using apple they will have an impression of educated and sophisticated people... although reality is this, apple users are called if0ols and infact they are

Android users between 45 and 60...So much for Android being complicated...cant be if older folks are using it.
Some of yall are looking at this wrong...I see many positive things about Android in this....lol.
69. walnuttt (Posts: 148; Member since: 11 Apr 2014)
this article is such a shame and a completely bias, so this survey tells that iphone users are far way educated, with manners, professional etc. whereas android users are down to earth poor, uneducated, bully and no manners? I know a lot of people (rich, businessman, educated, with bachelor degree) who use flagship android phones like S4, S5 , Note 3 etc. so does it mean they belong on the low class society just because they are using an android phone?

Sounds about right...at least judging the fandroids on here

You don't have to look very far to see that
78. jroc74 (Posts: 5271; Member since: 30 Dec 2010)
"But what's even more interesting is the fact that iPhone aficionados drink and use drugs twice as much as their Android peers."
You dont have to look far to see this too....

IPhones were made for the typical commercial people
Like old age pensioners and little kids
And for public that wants a phone to pose and show off
Apple decided that we will not make midrange or budget phones but a midrange subpar outdated 2 years old phone with a high end price to pay phone
They capulated the public the idea worked and apple continues to Serenade

It's because "iPhone's are cool" and "Android is for nerds"
7. fatTony (Posts: 30; Member since: 20 Dec 2012)
A typical iPhone user. How are they more educated when this one doesn't know when to use an apostrophe?
8. ArtSim98 (Posts: 3473; Member since: 21 Dec 2012)
Okay. First of all, I'm not an iPhone user. In fact, I hate iPhone's (mainly because of small low res screens and iOS). Secondly, my whole comment was sarcasm, or what many "cool" people think. And lastly, how did I use them wrong?
42. ArtSim98 (Posts: 3473; Member since: 21 Dec 2012)
lol. PPI has nothing to do with resolution. Have a 1" display and 500x200 resolution would make 538 PPI. So you would call that high res.?
iPhone has so "high"(still not even close to bigger 1080p displays) PPI because the display is so freaking small. That also makes you look closer at the display. 1080p display shows a lot more details no mater what the size/PPI is.
50. fatTony (Posts: 30; Member since: 20 Dec 2012)
And my entire comment was about the misuse of the apostrophe. You should not use an apostrophe in this case because your noun is plural - indicated by "are." Don't get me wrong, I'm not a grammar police or a professor, I'm just someone who paid attention in high school.
67. ArtSim98 (Posts: 3473; Member since: 21 Dec 2012)
Okay then. Nice. But just to let you know I'm Finnish so it's only natural that my English grammar isn't on top. Plus I'll just be going to high school next fall lol.
5. fatTony (Posts: 30; Member since: 20 Dec 2012)
What? Is this a joke? This is stealth marketing at its finest.
6. grahaman27 (Posts: 359; Member since: 05 Apr 2013)
These are random correlations, absolutely meaningless. 50% of redheads choose android? What? Divorce? Next time have someone with at least a degree do your statistical analysis.

This article has given me cancer.
I am deeply disgusted.

Where are these stupid surveys conducted? Why dont they come to my home.
14. N-fanboy (Posts: 538; Member since: 12 Jan 2013)
LMAO more educated??? Yeah right... The people who camp outside stores to get a sligtly better phone are real geniouses.

Educated and common sense are different sir.. lol

Slightly better sure, then again when their phone just works and doesnt have to worry about .gapps process or other lovely errors i have to deal with daily...meh to each their own.
17. Andrewtst (Posts: 461; Member since: 25 Jan 2009)
This is no surprise as Android having every range of phone from high end to low end.
In general this survey means nothing and stupid.
19. wilsong17 (unregistered)
Lol oh so iPhone are very smart really a phone that require no intelligence to use... just click a app and the home bottom how smart do you need to be to do these things
29. androiphone20 (Posts: 1629; Member since: 10 Jul 2013)
Just because sometimes you're way too busy to try to learn how a computer works, a lot less clutter usually works (at least for me).
35. Armchair_Commentator (Posts: 222; Member since: 08 May 2014)
The article didn't say you had to be smart to use an iPhone or even that it makes you smart, only that from the from the AYI users polled those with iPhones are generally better educated.
55. jmonteiro829 (Posts: 131; Member since: 13 Feb 2012)
I wonder the location of this survey. Also question what field of work these people are in. I work in IT and there are some very intelligent people around me and they all have Android. Basically I think these types of surveys are pure nonsense especially when I see many kids running around with iPhones... (just sayin)

Again, PhoneArena is creating headlines designed to excite vs educate.
If you search the internet for AYI (source of data), you discover AYI markets their
on-line dating to older adults.
Older adults tend to seek simplicity as opposed to taking advantage of flexability or
comprehensiveness. Of course they are more likely to make more money.
But this report does not say anything about the o/s systems. it is skewed with the bias of age (meaning the data AYI has access to is skewed towards older people) as opposed revealing anything about the users of a particular o/s
I am beginning to wonder if the Editors of PA are aiming at keeping young phone users inflamed as opposed to educating consumers about the tradeoffs that each phone mfr must
make. No phone is "best" or even "better" in a general sense. a phone is "best" for a given use and even "better" for a given use than another. phones, like any technical device, are
concrete evidence of a given set of tradeoffs that had to be made long before the devices existed. Its hard to do that.
You and I (consumers) must make a selection out of phones offering these varied tradeoffs.
PA does do matrix comparisons which are great. I appreciate them.
But inflamatory articles are just not needed by anyone. Editor's choices as to what is important reveals the degree that we consumers feel we can trust their end product.
Upon first reading PA, I thought various consumers were just overly suppportive of their phones and accusing PA as being deceptively biased. Now, I am beginning to believe that
their anger is a revelation of their frustration with PA. Maybe we should find another website?

These correlations show that the customer base for the iPhone is getting narrower -- and this is likely correlated with the iPhone's decline in market share.
25. isprobi (Posts: 350; Member since: 30 May 2011)
And dating site users are 50% more likely to be lying to impress potential mates. The only reliable statistic in this study is what type of phone was being used.
26. hkxm8 (Posts: 60; Member since: 08 Apr 2012)
"more education" for what? A lot of people using high-end phone still spill out bad word, do bad thing. Not a richer doesn't mean uneducated or uncivilized.
32. 1701nino (unregistered)
How the hell did they calculate this? What abour nexus devices? Then they are very smart and rich people because most people who own a nexus device is either working at google or an android enthusiasts. At least that is what the stereotypes are.

37. tmcr7 (Posts: 179; Member since: 02 Nov 2011)
This survey just goes to show that iPhone users have pathetic love lives that in the era of social media, they still resort to dating sites to find their one true love. Whereas Android users are there just to have fun. This sample by the way, does not represent the entire Android users. Only those that use this stupid dating site.

A rehash of an old story, with meaningless stats. Remember, 100% of us will die.
