Android users: download The Weather Channel app by scanning your TV
Sure, Android users can grab The Weather Channel's app by simply navigating to the Android Market and installing the download. But where is the fun in that? Wan to prove how much of an Android Geek you really are? Put your cable television on to The Weather Channel and keep an eye peeled for the special QR code box with the phrase "Android Users Scan Here". Using the camera on your Android phone, scan the code and you will have The Weather Channel's app added to your collection. Of course, since you can simply go to the Android Market and download the app at anytime, the forecaster might have to up the ante and have the code lead Android users to special forecasts performed by special weatherpeople.

The camera is all you need? Not a bar code scanner program is not necessary?

I imagine they left that part out. There are a couple of barcode scanners, including a QR code scanner that would be required to use this function.

Im pretty sure you would only need a scan-barcode app. There are several free versions in the android market and it only uses the camera.

I personally thing the QR codes are a great idea... Easy way to get info into a phone. Just think... having them on coupons, apps, websites etc. Its kinda cool that you can see a site for an app, scan then install..
