According to Strategy Analytics, market share for Android powered tablets has risen to over 41% at the end of the third quarter, a sizable improvement from last year's share; at the same time, the Apple iPad has seen a significant drop in its slice of the tablet pie...

I have no doubt that Nexus 7 is the change factor.
Boy, and Nexus 10 is coming!

Let them make a choice, everyone love choices and you can't force them to get iPad :)

Yup iPAD is really good but sorry people are still switching. Good or Bad is subjective. Substance over style isn't :)

Refusal to accept that Apple has any competitors at all is what keeps Apple hype going. This naïve arrogance starts at Apple corporate and trickles down all the way to their fanboys. Without being able to have noticeably better hardware or software than other phones or tablets, this self convinced elitism is all these fanboys have. Reading all of the dismissive statements towards competitors regarding the iPad Mini by Tim Cook and Apple fanboys makes me want to hulk out and smash stuff. But in the end I need to remind myself that these are words from ignorant people convinced that possession of a specifically branded item makes them better than other people. I used to think like this too at one point in my life, back in high school I bought a Jansport backpack because all the cool kids had one, and all the lame kids had whatever else. In the meantime I have grown up and realized that seeming cool doesn't matter in my everyday life and does not play into my device decisions. So in the end I've realized that iFanatics opinions are really just those judgemental pricks from high school who never grew up. My words for the iFanatics who will thumbs down my comment, "You can buy what you want to buy, and I'll buy what I want to buy. I don't look down on you for your purchase, so don't look down on me for mine. However once you spout some BS about how your choice is better than mine you'll instantly end up on my list of Stupid Mouths that have nothing good to say. And I will dismiss your opinion accordingly."

As an avid android user, I'm still kinda sad to see this condition of Apple. iPhone 5 riddled with problems, iPad Mini & 4 response lukewarm. I mean they could easily bring up the best tech, with the amount of cash they are sitting on. God knows when will they kickstart R&D.
39. TritonForceX posted on 26 Oct 2012, 08:23 2 0
Their R&D Department is currently being utilized to Research and Develop new ways to screw other tech companies to prevent further loss of market share.
Or in iTerms, the R&D department is being used to fill the holes in the sinking boat, not create a better hull.

I can't agree more. First the Android smartphones overtook iPhones and soon the tablets. We are educating the brainwashed iSheeps.

im pretty pretty sure that it still depends in q4 if surface and any other win8/RT tablets will sell and get love before android will get that sales! :)
because win8 tablet isnt just like another tablet... its a tablet PC
22. tedkord posted on 25 Oct 2012, 22:47 1 0
Win pro tablets are tablet pc's. Win RT tablets are just more of the same of what we've already got.
33. pikapowerize (banned) posted on 26 Oct 2012, 03:18 0 0
winRT is also a tablet PC but with limitations... and i think RT is better for students!
34. tedkord posted on 26 Oct 2012, 03:55 0 0
Win RT is no more a PC experience than Android or even iOS. In fact, probably a little less than Android, since it will have built in limitations like iOS.
Pro is a PC experience, but it looks like it will cost mouse than a mid-high end notebook.

Android cares customers the most, and it deserves to gain the market share, nexus 7 and kindle fire are the best affordable tablets so far...
However, android is too 'mainstream' for me, I'm afraid I will stick to the iPad mini :)
13. networkdood posted on 25 Oct 2012, 22:19 5 0
lol, too mainstream? That would be apple products....lame excuse...too mainstream.
15. wendygarett (limited) 6 days ago posted on 25 Oct 2012, 22:29 2 4
99% of OEM pick android as tablet, if it's not mainstream, what is it?
Don't get me wrong, I know what you mean... You're sayin about the market share (demand) but I'm sayin about supply.
36. cepcamba posted on 26 Oct 2012, 04:11 1 0
LOL, OEM chose Android? Even if they want OEMs CAN't choose iOS.

But have they taken into account how many manufacturers are actually building android tablets that's going up against apple? I'm no apple fan by far but give credit where its due apple is one company competing against what 4-5 companies. Yes Android will eventually take the top market share and with windows tablets coming on board and and the newer technology with android software and hardware now days apple will have to come up with something very revolutionary again in order to stay top dog. Until they loose this spot give credit where its due. One company against several don't make a level playing field.
14. networkdood posted on 25 Oct 2012, 22:21 2 2
it does with apple, as people brainwash themselves into thinking iproducts are so great and wonderful - when someone wakes up from their apple slumber, they finally see the big picture.
17. p0rkguy posted on 25 Oct 2012, 22:34 4 0
Hey, shut the f*ck up with that excuse already. It's Apple's decision to be the only company to distribute iOS. NOT GOOGLE, NOT MICROSOFT, NOT SAMSUNG, APPLE'S.
20. protozeloz posted on 25 Oct 2012, 22:42 3 0
Problem with that theory is that manufacturers compete with apple and each other, as a result android is always on friendly fire, because every company wants to take the top spot, just like saying it was smartphone excuse. Now Samsung is top seller by itself, apple is just facing competition because companies are doing amazing things with android and expanding good quality products to the reach of the average consumer, as a person with a nexus 7 and a PC I have to say I'm using my N7 even more than my computer. Because its portable has good battery and if it breaks I can just tow in 200-250 to get an new one.
Is not sheer number that's winning, its several factors from variability to price to usage and performance

Take that school yard junk elsewhere, this is the real world and ain't anything fair out there...just check out the lawsuit riddled 2 years we've had to endure. Options is what makes the consumer world go round 3 products later, now Apple tells you that you need a smaller iPad...no thanks already have an Android that fits the bill for a lot cheaper too.
What credit should we give Apple by the way? Aside from creating the space for the product, what else is there? Innovation in said space? Not sure but last time I checked these bozos wanted to claim a patent on a rounded rectangle because everyone had free reign to use a bloody rectangle to make their own pads and differ in price and what it comes packed with...why you have to hate Apple? Fear of competition is all I see, has little to do with protecting their obviously bulls**t patent on rounded rectangular objects with a touchscreen inside of it. If it were up to these guys no one would be able to make a full screen smartphone or any kind of tablet because somehow rectangular shaped devices with touchscreens on them is the sole idea of the almighty Apple am I right boys?

Same thing people said when that argument was brought up with the iPhone, it's Apple's choice to make so few products.
21. protozeloz posted on 25 Oct 2012, 22:46 2 0
Is a dumb argument just because we don't see Samsung people promoting an LG device or vise versa, the thing is clear android tabs are getting appeal, and the best part apps keep improving every day to the point it will be a matter of time before apps compatible with both phone and app are the same numbers as iOS and just like on phones this argument will be over
27. JunkCreek posted on 26 Oct 2012, 00:07 3 0
man... i see a vision... the COURT... the JUDGE...
Apple once lost from windows, they DEFINITELY using whatever it takes to keep iPhone (that now are being in "draw" to android phone) and their iPad now "eaten" by android tablet. we SURELY would see the COURT.
I HATE SUING for so biased action and looks and feels patent, not the codes or methods.
35. rusticguy posted on 26 Oct 2012, 04:09 1 0
Blame the Flawed USPTO and Laws in US which allows people to even Patent Postures of YOGA :)
28. kanagadeepan posted on 26 Oct 2012, 00:52 0 0
Surely iPad-Mini will again eat iPad4 sales much much more comparing to Nexus 7 and other Tablets, imho...
31. tedkord posted on 26 Oct 2012, 01:34 0 0
And now you see the reason why Apple decided that 7-inch tablets aren't all that DOA.
