Android jumps ahead of iOS in ad impressions

0. phoneArena posted on 10 Jan 2012, 07:14

Ad impressions are one approximation we turn to when trying to measure the success of a platform and in December one metric suggests that Android has zipped past Apple’s iOS…

You guys are happy about seeing more advertisements?! Android will always be a developer's cash cow! Paid Ad-less apps for iOS and Free Ad supported versions for Android! Yes, Android wins in the advertisement department.

Better at poor optimization, better at freezing and bugs, better at being laggy, better at providing poor, quality apps. Yeah, that's the only thing Android is better at than iOS. ZING!

only gullible people buy ipoo because they think (its) simpler, Andro is king! Long Live the King!

7. SleepingOz posted on 10 Jan 2012, 08:10 5 13

Well, they're too biased and in denial to see that their iPOS are overpriced. They should be really stupid to think that the more expensive, the better..

13. Astreo posted on 10 Jan 2012, 08:45 9 6

Oh well this is interesting...their POS is so overpriced that they think more expensive is better? lets do some easy math here...IPhone 4S = 200$...most new phones verizon are 250$-300$. AT&T is 200$ for good phones such as the S2 and wowzers the SAME pricing on sprint....so really all those amazing high end androids you are all touting such as the Razer and Nexus that most of you claim to have are in the same boat as iOS.

20. frydaexiii posted on 10 Jan 2012, 09:21 12 11

No, we're comparing what we get and the price we pay for it, that is what tells us the iPhone is overpriced, not that it's more expensive than Androids.

iPhone Pros: - Good Paid Apps
- "Stable" OS

Cons : - Small Screen
- s**tty innards (800Mhz dual core?)
- Locked up boring OS
- Made of glass
- Made by Apple (a company that practices dirty business methods)
- Used by Tech-retards and their pet dogs

Android Pros : - Screen Size up to my preference.
- Open OS that is fully customizable.
- Made of Metal (HTC and Razr) & hard plastic.
- Good free and paid apps.
- Known to the public as an advanced/ complicated OS.
- Some of the best hardware for mobile devices (Eg. Exynos).
- Most have expandable memory.

Cons : -Rummage thru tons of crap apps before being able to find good apps.
-Some devices might experience lag.

As you can see, for Android, the pros outweigh their cons while for iPhone, the cons outweigh the pros by a landslide...So obiviously, paying $300 for an Android is more worth it than paying $300 for an iPhone.

28. gallitoking posted on 10 Jan 2012, 10:38 6 10

you are a fandroid of course for you Android is your best option.... I can give my pros and cons for both OS.. but go into details.. people have choices.. some like iOS ans some like Android... there is no best OS.. only the best... for you...

38. The_Miz posted on 10 Jan 2012, 12:38 2 10

Well said. Course, as usual, Fandroids will go into denial and butthurt mode.

21. SleepingOz posted on 10 Jan 2012, 09:35 7 6

Hey stupid iBiased fan boy, you're talking about carriers' contract prices. These rates are applicable only in the us, but you're too stupid to know about the existence of international market!
The unlocked 4s costs around 850$ actually, where as the high-end DROIDS cost around 400-600$.

25. Astreo posted on 10 Jan 2012, 09:58 5 3

No, its not that im too stupid to know its that thats what i see on a daily basis. thats MY personal experience. Im just saying its silly to compare a phone just on pricing. also the reason that iphones are so much unlocked is because the demand for them is that high. if people are willing to pay it why wouldnt they charge? its a business.

26. frydaexiii posted on 10 Jan 2012, 10:03 5

Yeah, even in other countries, on carrier contracts, iPhones still cost more than high end droids.I'm from Singapore, and when I got my SGS2 for S$290 (around S$490+, due to early re-contract), the 16GB iPhone cost S$499. So even after an early re-contract penalty, my S2 still cost lower than an iPhone, even thou the S2 is way better.

29. gallitoking posted on 10 Jan 2012, 10:40 4 11

of course the iphone cost more... resell value.. Android is like a car.. it cost less as soon as you activate the phone.. with the iphone is like a house... the value goes up...

34. EclipseGSX posted on 10 Jan 2012, 11:39 7 1

hahaha like a house? in this market? get your head checked dude

39. SleepingOz posted on 10 Jan 2012, 12:51 6 1

ROFL!
This is your dumbest statement so far! keep it up!

44. gallitoking posted on 10 Jan 2012, 13:23 1 4

here in Az some house do go up in value... so research before contradicting anything... second.. my brother whom has been a member of the Apple army longer than me... everytimes the a new iphone comes out... ATT renews his contract sells the used iphone and has more than enough moeny to get the new iphone.. and gains about 50.00 bucks each time.. making my statement true...
I will repeated again for Android users... he invests 200.00 for the new iphone.. sells his used iphone for 250.00 earning a new iphone and 50.00 in the process.. starts a new 2 year agreement with ATT. but he is not going anywhere..

45. remixfa posted on 10 Jan 2012, 13:34 4 1

gallito, thats not going up in value, that is buying the phone subsidized and then turning around and selling it unsubsidized.

i can go buy an SGS2 for 200 or less on contract and turn around and sell it for 300 or more on ebay.

you know why most people dont do that? because then they get stuck with a contract and no phone.

wow dude, u really are a nutter.

53. gallitoking posted on 10 Jan 2012, 18:02 1 3

not if you are a member of the Apple army and your carrier is ATT. he does it every year...

40. SuperAndroidEvo posted on 10 Jan 2012, 12:56 5 1

gallitoking, what are you talking about? Apple iPhones most certainly don't go up in value. They will never go up in value because old iPhones are obsolete. Heirlooms like watches, paintings, furniture & exotic cars go up in value, not an iPhone. lol A Rolex or a TAG might go up in value through time but an iPhone would not. C'mon man that's crazy talk.

I think you were just joking.

32. Garavainus posted on 10 Jan 2012, 11:07 5 2

How about one of my favorite comparisons: iPhone 4S for $200 vs Droid Bionic for $200

- storage: iPhone 16G / Bionic 16G with 16G SD
- display: iPhone 3.5" / Bionic 4.3"
- RAM: iPhone 512MB / Bionic 1024MB
- Front Camera: iPhone VGA / Bionic 1.3 Mpxl

And my personal favorite comparison:
- LTE: iPhone NO / Bionic YES

Yeah ... great deal on that iPOS

55. saiki4116 posted on 11 Jan 2012, 00:31

5. henrickrw posted on 10 Jan 2012, 07:54 2

Real Deal

6. marinbuyukliev posted on 10 Jan 2012, 07:59 4 5

Android will kill iOS and iPhone and other is**t things just wait a little time

9. thebikerboi2 posted on 10 Jan 2012, 08:26 2 3

Everyone is saying how android is going to kill iPhone just because it's ad impressions went up by 5. I'm sorry but no, iPhone is not dying nor will die for a good while yet. The 4s has been selling in record numbers all over the world and people are saying that the iPhone is dying?

10. remixfa posted on 10 Jan 2012, 08:33 11 3

the iphone isnt dying. android is just the better platform. open source ALWAYS outsells a closed aproach.. 100% of the time. android gives you a ton more value for your money than iphone does. and for non fanboys, thats a big deal.

11. thebikerboi2 posted on 10 Jan 2012, 08:36 3 5

or its the fact that android is avaliable on hundreds of different phones. this adds another plus on to android and another downside, choice and compatability. the compatability issue can ben see in the applications avaliable on android, developers face a almighty chalenge if you want to create an app that works on all andoid devices, theres just too many variants. personaly i like my iphone because of the apps and gaming posobilities.

12. remixfa posted on 10 Jan 2012, 08:43 14 3

lolol. i love this old arguement.
hate to tell ya, but iOS is more fragmented than android.
Android may have more variations of phones, but the bulk of them run either 2.2 or 2.3 with only a scant few running ICS or 2.1 and less.

iOS has less variations of phone (iphone, 3g, 3gs,4, 4s) but more varations in its OS spread. Why is that? Because while android comes OTA as soon as the manufacturer releases it, for anyone thats not on iOS5, they have to first learn of the update then go manually do it. Which most people DONT DO.
There is way more variation in iOS versions across those few phones than there are with android's many phones.

Fragmentation? ha. The apple is cut in way more slices than the robot.

14. knights4life03 posted on 10 Jan 2012, 08:48 7 2

18. iamcc posted on 10 Jan 2012, 09:12 7 1

Exactly. I've said this before but my girlfriend's brother and mom just got the iPhone4 a few months ago on Verizon and neither of them have updated to the latest software or had any clue what I was talking about when I asked them...

22. Dmann posted on 10 Jan 2012, 09:36 4

So true. I have updated 3 iphones from relatives. They didn´t even know there were updates and what they were for. They didn´t even remember their iTunes account password.

33. berniecalo posted on 10 Jan 2012, 11:09 3

so don't tell us..

48. thebikerboi2 posted on 10 Jan 2012, 16:25 3

ios more fragmented than android, thats a laugh. and yes it is true that there are less variants in android os versions that are curently active. but thats because most people with android smartphones change them every 4 months.

your argument about ios framentation realy is made invalid by one thing, itunes. itunes automaticly alerts you when you have an update. plus apple servers struggled to stay online when ios 5 was released so the majority of iphone variants that can upgrade to ios 5 will be running it.

i know how many dislikes this will probably get just because this page is filled with android trolls.

50. remixfa posted on 10 Jan 2012, 16:51 2 1

your right.. it is a laugh.. i laugh every time someone tries to tell me its not true

your itunes arguement is invalidated by one thing. THE USERS
many if not most iphone users do not use itunes on a regular basis if at all. most people buy an iphone because they think they need it or they want a simple smartphone with better capabilities than their old phone. iphone owners have to be TOLD that there is an update, then log into itunes and physically get the update themselves. Do you really think the majority do that???? lololololol

dude, i work in cell phones. most people dont even put their email in correctly with out help, much less get their own updates.

15. Astreo posted on 10 Jan 2012, 08:54 8 3

Why do you people continue to argue about this? its preference. its really starting to get old coming to this site and seeing only "LAWL IPHONE SUX" and " ROFL DROID BLOWS" in every article. its really putting off alot of people. i recommend this website to people all the time and im about to start regretting it. Do you all own stock in google or apple? no then stfu. stop bitching about people who like iphones and the same goes for android. i love a good discussion as much as the next guy but the same arguements are being used on BOTH sides every time and its borderline childish the way this is happening.

17. steev57 posted on 10 Jan 2012, 09:06 7 2

Yep, it has gotten pretty ridiculous. Everyone thinks their phone is superior to everything. Logical discussions have become scarce on this site.

19. berniecalo posted on 10 Jan 2012, 09:13 5

AMEN!!!

16. berniecalo posted on 10 Jan 2012, 08:58 4 1

I love my iPhone but I am not a fanboy and I admit it has its flaws. Although I've been and is still tempted to try Android just to try and experience the difference, I just won't do it. Although yes, the iPhone is expensive, I just feel I'd spend more on Android devices in the long run. Why? Because of the speed they release new models. As soon as I buy some brand-spanking new model, 2-3 months after, I'd feel cheated because a model or two will have been released with upgrades I would have preferred if I waited for a while longer. The iPhone lets me enjoy my phone for a very long time. Heck, even with the iPhone 4S released, 3GS owners would still be fine even if it is already 3 years old. Speed is still good, new apps are still compatible with it as well as newer iOS versions. I'd still get the value I paid for even if I paid a bit more at the beginning. This is just my point of view according to my personal experience.

23. Johnny_Mnemonic posted on 10 Jan 2012, 09:44 2 7

IPhone was yesterday. Today is android ,tomorrow android will rule

27. baldilocks posted on 10 Jan 2012, 10:33 1

I hate in app ads. There are tons of apps I had on my iPhone that have yet to have paid versions for Android and it drives me crazy.

iOS apps are generally well more thought out as well. Don't get me wrong, I love my Galaxy S II, but Android apps leave a LOT to be desired.

30. gallitoking posted on 10 Jan 2012, 10:43 4 4

bored with the same arguments Android vs. iOS... moving to another topic

56. Johnny_Mnemonic posted on 11 Jan 2012, 17:35 1

Gallito if your bored ,way don't you go and play with your Steve jobs doll ;)

54. charulo316 posted on 10 Jan 2012, 18:54

Why is it that certain people complain about Android phones on Verizon being overpriced compared to iphone. The Droid Bionic, Droid Razr, Htc Rezound, and Galaxy Nexus all come with lte and 32gbs of storage. They were $300 but how much is an iphone with 32gb? And no lte? Same price. Which one sounds more expensive now?
