Google Music is my most used and most loved app. Listening to music is easier now than ever, makes sense it's the most used feature.

23. ardent1 posted on 01 Aug 2012, 18:01

Aeires, you need to reread the chart. Listening to music is NOT the most used feature since it's share is 27.6%. The most used feature is texting to another phone with 75%. These stats are for June 2012.

Good job Android OEMs and Apple! Would be nice to see other OSs rising in marketshare as well, but I'm sure their time will come. WP8 looks pretty decent, also the bits and pieces of BB10 I've seem show so promise. But these guys have got to give us more. Lives tiles and smarter keyboards won't be enough to catch Android and iOS. More apps, more customization, and freedom from carrier and OEM lockdown would be a great start. Along with better displays, cameras and sensors **cough "RIM!" cough**.

I'm rooting for Windows to have a 3rd competitive OS. Rim has had 5 years and still can't release something new.

25. Whateverman posted on 02 Aug 2012, 00:04

Yeah, it's going to be a long road for RIM. They have to stop putting out these same old Bolds and Curves and get that new OS in the hands of consumers ASAP. The longer they go without putting out BB10, the worse off it looks for RIM.

An Android fan congratulating Apple? I regained my hope in this sites comment section again.

Looks like android and iPhone are both doing great. It's impressive that iOS had a nice market share gain without any new phone release.

With iPhone 5 and of Apple can make a deal with T-Mobile I think iOS ca hit close to 40% by the end of the year.

I actually like taco's comment this time. Finally saying something positive on both sides other than trying to lure attacks from Android fans. Not to mention his view of Apple hitting close 40% is possible if his scenario happens, but I wouldn't second guess Android marketshare hitting also close to 60% by that time due to the SGS3 hitting late and won't show impact until 3rd quarter.

"I actually like taco's comment this time."

He is just changing his face depending on the situation, because there is nowhere to hide from the facts and nothing more.

He just got two phone arena sponsored vacations. He's always a bit more restrained right after.

They both are doing great. WP and BB have got their work cut out for them.

19. Droid_X_Doug posted on 01 Aug 2012, 15:32 1

Actually I think it is WP that has its work cut out for it. BB is doing the Tidy-Bowl ride.

Taco.... Aprils Fools Day is on 4/1 and not 8/1.... I don’t know if you were confused on the actual day of the holiday.... But none the less the Android community will kindly accept your praise of its success.

I dont get why all the red thumbs.

This is about the most civil I've seen this guy post. Its happens here n there, yall better appreciate it while it lasts.

I dont agree with it getting close to 40% by the end of the year when the iPhone 5 drops and T Mo gets an iPhone. T Mo is probably the smallest of the big 4. Android started on T Mo. It will set sales records on T Mo tho... And Android phones are constantly being released.

For that to happen....alot of Android users world wide would have to switch to the iPhone and most new users to smartphones would have to go iPhone.

Kinda feel bad for WP....Win Mo was my first smartphone...I also want it to succeed. Its probably the only other phone I would use. Still get the hardware choices with WP.

So does this include the Galaxy S3?

20. Droid_X_Doug posted on 01 Aug 2012, 15:33 1

Probably 60% of the sales increase is due to GS III sales.

21. ph00ny posted on 01 Aug 2012, 15:42

Probably not as much since majority of US carriers got the phone towards the end of june some in july

26. roscuthiii posted on 02 Aug 2012, 02:00

From the article, "This data was counted before the release of the red hot Samsung Galaxy S III, so you know those figures have a good shot at moving higher in the next survey."

Can't wait to see what the numbers are next time.
