Security company Kaspersky Labs has informed its audience that it has seen an almost threefold increase in the number of new malicious apps in its databases...

Wow.......Sad to say.....but the more android continues to become like a PC the more it will see viruses like on a PC! Gotta do something about this quick android..

well i think google should create sort of "google trusted" scheme for every app they've analyzed and leave all other apps "not reviewed"

They've already added the Trusted Developer status so that was a help.

Exactly, just be careful of what you download and what app you install. Just like a PC never download a untrusted file or an app...
and yes most important keep an Antivirus, there are lots of free Antivirus on the Play Store
Avast
Symantec
AVG
and many more....

"malware" means just = "an app by user downloaded, accepted its permissions and installed"
so malware for Android does NOT EXIST!
and this means democracy: we can install what we want.....it is not a dictate where you can or can not install (iPhone, iPad)....thank you for that!

wrong my fellow!
as you quoted: "an app by user downloaded, accepted its permissions and installed" = TROJAN = MALWARE (thus malware for android exists!)
we (android users) must be very careful when installing non-market apps... just yesterday i installed a .apk found on 4shared and coudn't access settings anymore.. luckly i got rid of the app and now is everything running.

no, it was your fault because you were irresponsible.......this irresponsible behaviour wouldnt stop even the best antivirus like on Windows

i believe you thumbed me down.. thats ok... a smart chinese proverb says "open the street to the fool", but bear in ear my advice, dont talk about smth you dont know with someone you dont know,,, he may know things you dont :)
as for your response, i dont want to start a fight here on PA but seriosly how dare you acuse me for being irresponsible, dafuq are you?
and as for the record I (as a android app developer) could publish a malware app on the play store and everyone who installs get the malware... this UN-irresponsible behaviour could lead to an infection...

Yes you can upload malware.....you even can murder some one......but before you have to tell some one you are going to kill him as it works so with Android ;)

My grand idea and i hope google has it 2 is to merge the chrome tech and the android tech to make a great malicious free product that auto-updates and manufacturers won't have to worry about updates to the core system it would be up to google to do that. but i doubt that will happen.. a least for now..
