Is this the sign that sky is falling?? I mean WP is dead.... LOL.
It really funny seeing nokia/elop has been avoiding andorid and dead, but when microsoft buy it, microsoft use the android. anyway. I hope the next lumia is a REAL google experience phone, not some half-hearted microsoft-android-platform.
13. LetsBeHonest (Posts: 768; Member since: 04 Jun 2013)
First of all WP is not DEAD!!!. And they are not going to die anytime soon. In many countries WP outselling iOS. WP provide a unique experience. This platform have high potential. Also MS is planning to bring many flagship like McLaren which said to be bringing something more.
And i agree that, it is funny now they want to make more android powered devices.i believe they would have been in a better position by now if they went for both android and WP from the beginning.

Do you really think this dude, and people like him, are really gonna listen to that?..
You're giving him too much credit..

First of all Microsoft is merging WP with Windows RT next year. This is a given fact. So WP will be able to run Windows apps. What is dead specifically is programming for WP period. That is going to go away. Why would anyone learn to program specifically for WP now, knowing that this merger will happen next year.
38. Alex123 (Posts: 219; Member since: 17 Oct 2012)
Yes, wp is unique. Skype on own OS falls too far behind its competitors not to mentioned other social networks. POP3 email is almost invalid compared to android and BB10. To be fair, my NL925 is a great device in term of build quality, design and camera but these can not help me with daily life. Luckily, i also have my G2.
so, please try to say the truth as i will be a useful tips for those who looking for a smartphone but don't know which platform is the best

Rodneyej is adapted thoroughly with his compromising skills living with wp, so you just can't expect honesty from him.
+1 to you and LetsBeHonest

Is insulting anyone and everyone who says anything against MS/Nokia is all you've ever got ? smh

The real google experience with it's 1001 services running on the phone is a bloated piece of *!@$. Something simple, pure vanilla Android with a minimum of services will be great for everybody. Everything should be app driven, I control what drains juice on the phone and not some stupid data hungry service that is always running in the background.
56. Sniggly (Posts: 6942; Member since: 05 Dec 2009)
Okay, now you're just smack talking without knowing what in the living hell you're talking about.
102. dratomic (Posts: 461; Member since: 09 Oct 2013)
most of the world hate vanilla android. they prefer touchwiz android. forget about what you hear in these tech sites. i know many people who bought something else and regret it because it didnt have tws features

Many WP and Nokia fan...boys... will have seizures.
And it should indeed mean the sky is falling...because this is a sure sign that Nokia, and/or MS wishes they had jumped on the Android train looong ago.
118. luxzy801 (Posts: 136; Member since: 16 Jun 2010)
Wow, jroc, what up bro. I havent seen you for a while here, or I just havent been here enough.
Either way, I dont neccessarily think that its about jumping to android, i think its more of a "fill the gap" type thing. Provide both until you drop apple's market share with another kicka** device with android and WP until WP9 comes out which they are hoping will full on compete with droid considering they will merge RT and WP (If all rumors are to be believed). Both, IMO, will give some heated competition to the likes of Apple and Samsung alike giving Microsoft its name recognition back (and we all know where that recognition went after Vista LOL)...

They mentioned Android Powered "LUMIA" means real android with good specs.....we will not see like X series.
So I guess this phone was already in Nokia production.... So ms will release it.

wow, are you a God or something, how can you be so sure with that?
2. andonia2 (Posts: 30; Member since: 26 Jul 2013)
I WOULD LOVE TO SEE ANDROID ON A LUMIA-LIKE DEVICE-IT'S MY DREAM COME TRUE//........................... COMBINE THAT WITH THEIR AWESOME CAMERA AND SUPERB DISPLAY--------PLZZ LET THIS LEAK BE TRUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with you, it is the right time for Nokia Android, I feel tired from Samsung and their stupid android Galaxy.

Good but keep Windows Phone. Though if BlackBerry gets it's shiet together it will probably be my next phone.
6. rodneyej1 (Posts: 3534; Member since: 06 Jul 2013)
Why would this "rub the Lumia faithful and indeed the Windows Phone faithful the wrong way"???
I swear PA is ran by a bunch of 15 year olds...
As long as i can still get a Lumia WP device I could care less... I guess PA thinks that All faithful WP fans are haters...
14. Planterz (Posts: 751; Member since: 30 Apr 2012)
"I guess PA thinks that All faithful WP fans are haters..."
I guess the ones that aren't the vocal ones might not be. But every WP fan I see brags about how smooth it scrolls (and scrolls and scrolls and scrolls and scrolls), despite the craptacular app/game selection, complete lack of customization, and lack of features that iOS and Android have had for years.
Yeah, I'm a WP hater. I hate that is sucks so much that it poses zero threat to Android and iOS. I hate that innovation and advancement requries competition, and that WP provides none.
The cameras are nice, though.
112. marcski07 (Posts: 365; Member since: 25 Apr 2014)
well I guess, nokia avoids of becoming a "TOY". kids are loving iOS and android, because of gaming apps... back in the day, you won't see a elementary student rocking an expensive phone just to play games, it is a utility for communication, but now those two are just for games... WP don't have a problem to people who just needs a smartphone that can do what it really does, to be a mobile pc, not a mobile game console... why hate WP? you have tons of android devices to choose from, every people have different kind of taste, all they want is plain and simple, beautiful out of the box. and that's nokia lumia are made for.
7. JakeLee (Posts: 1001; Member since: 02 Nov 2013)
Wow, finally we gotta see how well Android fares when fully optimized, despite Java being in the way.
Or M$ will just prove that two wrongs don't make one right.
8. LetsBeHonest (Posts: 768; Member since: 04 Jun 2013)
That'll be so awesome. But this time i want a high end one with a pure view camera and android L on board. Also a close to stock android UI like motorola. Sadly this seems unlikely . Their current X line looks like all they just want to do is give android a bad name. I really hope they make a proper android device like i always wanted them to do in the first place ie, using WP and android same time.
34. tech2 (Posts: 2028; Member since: 26 Oct 2012)
Specs from Samsung.
Camera from Nokia.
Software from Google.
Design from HTC.
NOTHING from MS.

And i and most business prefer office ms, with a flavor of live drive for colaboration. News?

Why don't you look at Office on Windows Phone and compare it with Quickoffice on Android and iOS? Sorry, I don't even know why Office Mobile is very bad.
Anyway, it's a good idea, honestly.
98. akki20892 (Posts: 3430; Member since: 04 Feb 2013)
Design from Nokia is good....they r Good at design.
99. tech2 (Posts: 2028; Member since: 26 Oct 2012)
They're good but HTC is better.
P.S.: Stop thumbing up your own comment ;)

nokia design has high durability, but too thick
121. dexter_jdr (Posts: 1139; Member since: 28 Jun 2012)
i dont see my lumia 1020 as a thick phone. coming from a galaxy Y user
9. Sniggly (Posts: 6942; Member since: 05 Dec 2009)
If they did Android and did Android right-that is, full access to Google play and none of this Nokia X/L/2 cheapass device horsesh.it, they would probably have a winner on their hands.
It would be goddamn hilarious too, because it would finally vindicate what most of us were claiming all along: if Nokia had seriously invested in Android devices, they'd be way better off than they are now.
72. WahyuWisnu (Posts: 1001; Member since: 29 May 2014)
That's what i'm thinking. Nokia/Elop has been avoiding android like a leper and when microsoft creating android device, it's like a drama.
10. GreekGeek (Posts: 754; Member since: 22 Mar 2014)
Microsoft is too dumb to even consider this option, there is no "lost sales" here, when in fact, WP and Android are two different segments catering to different needs.
Any Android fan will avoid the dreaded tiled interface like a plague, that's common knowledge.
More options = potentially more profit, simple as that
108. nbringer (Posts: 132; Member since: 11 Sep 2012)
"Any Android fan will avoid the dreaded tiled interface like a plague, that's common knowledge." - I have both; they are complementary, not mutually exclusive and I like them both.
11. JakeLee (Posts: 1001; Member since: 02 Nov 2013)
I hope M$ launches it with a dual boot option : Stock Android and Windows.
Then people will finally realize what a junk of an OS Android is, performing SOOO MUCH worse than Windows on the very same hardware - literally.
15. Sniggly (Posts: 6942; Member since: 05 Dec 2009)
You obviously haven't owned an Android phone built with decent specs in the last year or two.
18. JakeLee (Posts: 1001; Member since: 02 Nov 2013)
When I pay for something, it has to be done professionally. There is no single Android phone that meets this simple standard.
And I don't have to pay for Android - I get paid for Android instead.
23. 0xFFFF (Posts: 2962; Member since: 16 Apr 2014)
So pay yourself and make an Android phone into something you consider "professional".
It surprises me that you don't seem to grok "the beauty of Android".
32. Sniggly (Posts: 6942; Member since: 05 Dec 2009)
Nothing you just said made any sense whatsoever.
16. Planterz (Posts: 751; Member since: 30 Apr 2012)
How's that horrible app selection working for you? Ya know, after you spend 3 minutes scrolling through crap to find that app that you waited 6 months to get after it came out on iOS and Android?
21. LetsBeHonest (Posts: 768; Member since: 04 Jun 2013)
I agree with your first sentence. Dual boot seems nice. And for the second statement which completely sounds like nothing but a hater's comment(no offence), android was laggy and performed terrible in the era of ginger breed but that has changed since the JB's arrival and even got better with kit Kat. And if you want to see android performing good then go check Moto E. No lag whatsoever. Also android offer much more features than its competitors and some are useful some are not much useful. Also i find out android do multitasking better than iOS and WP. And btw yes, some samsung devices are laggy like Core, grand etc but that is different story, its not Google's fault or android's its Samsung who bloated android with heavy skin touchwiz which made it laggy.
27. JakeLee (Posts: 1001; Member since: 02 Nov 2013)
You are right, Android became halfway decent since ICS.
But that's pretty much all.
AOSP is fundamentally flawed with its core dependencies to Java/Zygote and SKIA etc.
29. LetsBeHonest (Posts: 768; Member since: 04 Jun 2013)
Yes, java is a bit buggy compared to other prog languages like c,c++ etc but honestly speaking i have used my friends moto E and he installed some apps and games in it though it works so smooth. No lag. Honestly im pressed. I remember those laggy days when i had a galaxy S :). But i realized its all past. Also i have used some other low end phones like xperia M,moto g, micromax unite 2 etc i find no lag at all. So when haters says android still buggy laggy as hell it feels so stupid (im sorry if i made u feel offensive)
70. JakeLee (Posts: 1001; Member since: 02 Nov 2013)
The fun stops when the garbage collection kicks in.
Java is garbage that does garbage collection.
Java is such an inefficient language. Just compare it with C#. Despite being a vm based language just like Java, C# codes run up to three times as fast as codes written in Java.
Android would have been a much better OS without Java. People simply don't know what they are missing.
22. 0xFFFF (Posts: 2962; Member since: 16 Apr 2014)
"Then people will finally realize what a junk of an OS Android is, performing SOOO MUCH worse than Windows on the very same hardware - literally."
More likely they will realize that WP is a sterile, closed environment. Sort of like a version of iOS from 2009 with "live tiles", but without any apps, and with little third party support.
24. rodneyej1 (Posts: 3534; Member since: 06 Jul 2013)
If I were you I really wouldn't respond to pathetic trolls... But, don't troll yourself.. Actually, there's some really great performing Android devices out there, like the Z2... I actually wouldn't mind having a Z2 ultra...
We can love WP without stooping to these trolls level... Just completely ignore anyone who isn't talking sensibly...

Atleast change the avatar before uttering BS.
66. JakeLee (Posts: 1001; Member since: 02 Nov 2013)
I could change my avatar anytime. No problem.
But could you be more specific with BS? Where did it start and where did it end?
No, you can't.
