And Apple's are? Face it, most of androids apps are also on apples too.

Dude, he's right. Most Android apps aren't that great. There's so many apps with grainy graphics and the simple white * green letters on black background. But if you're happy with it then that's all that matters.
And no, I wouldn't say most of apple's apps are on android too.
3. ilia1986 posted on 27 Feb 2012, 06:58 14 1
ALL iOS Widgets aren't that great. And you know why?
BECAUSE IOS DOESN'T HAVE ANY WIDGETS!!
5. drahmad posted on 27 Feb 2012, 07:11 1 14
whats so good about widgets? i hate them. they use extra memory extra battery , extra processor share and rarely helped me when i had android. i would rather prefer the simplicity and fluidity of windows phone and iOS

Widgets are the primary tool to customize your phone. Aside from the theme of the icons, the wallpaper (live or static) you choose, and the ringtones. Widgets allow your phone to become your phone. That is the primary reason I love Android, even though I have an iPhone 4: Widgets. They allow an owner of an Android phone - to make his phone truly his. They allow him to customize the look and feel of his phone. Because widgets can be re sized, and come in different shapes, skins and theme - you can customize the look and feel of your phone.
Besides- after watching a lot of YouTube videos - widgets are insanely useful. They allow you to see your mail, your recent calls, your messages and your RSS feeds for example - all in on place. And if you want more info - that is a flick or two away. That's contrary to apps which you gotta first find the right app icon, then wait for the app to load, and after it loads - you gotta exit it if you want to do something else. Widgets are like windows on Windows - they truly enable you to multi-task with ease.

add "for us" to what ever you say :p , cutomization is just a game. Not of practical use. i didnt even used a widget on my windows 7 pc where they don't consume any considerable resources

"customization is just a game. Not of practical use."
LMAO. the reason i customize is to make my phone more useful.
and you dislike widgets because they eat resources?
the current generation of android headsets has way more than enough resources to power 5 homescreens stocked with widgets. the next generation will be even better. maybe your lumia 800 doesnt have enough resources, but my g2x does. time for an upgrade? :P
33. ilia1986 posted on 27 Feb 2012, 11:16 5 0
If customization is of no practical use to you - I bet that you wouldn't mind eating the same food and wearing the same clothes every day, then, now would you?
I really pity you. Customization is of critical use to everyone.
34. drahmad posted on 27 Feb 2012, 11:49 0 3
good for you
10. protozeloz posted on 27 Feb 2012, 07:49 5 1
That's too bad,
My weather widget allows me to check the weather in various countries without jumping into an app an waiting for it to load
My calendar widget allows me to check all my appointments from 3 weeks into the future ans makes it easy to add events
My social network Widgets (scrollable btw) allow me to take a pic of what's going on without touching an app or sharing even faster
My bookmark widget allows me to jump into sites in a flash
And so on and on.....
11. remixfa posted on 27 Feb 2012, 07:52 9 1
dude, my mail widget shows me 4 mail accounts at 1 shot, and since i run ICS, its scrollable so i can see ALL my mail without having to open any apps. Same as with my scrollable calendar widget and a dozen others.
people that say widgets dont do anything have never actually used them. Stock widgets are nice and all but the great stuff is in the market.
BTW, WP7's "live tiles" ARE widgets.. lol.
14. tedkord posted on 27 Feb 2012, 07:59 1 0
That's all true. I imagine they wouldn't work well at all on a device with an underclocked processor and no multitasking. Fortunately, my single core Android from last year handles them with no issues and absolute fluidity.
18. remixfa posted on 27 Feb 2012, 08:06 0 5
this isnt meant for american consumption. These handsets are meant for emerging markets where people dont have money for iphones and SGS2's like africa, china, and india.
17. PAPINYC posted on 27 Feb 2012, 08:05 2 3
couldn't figure out your Android phone and now you're bitter or, as you might simplistically say, iBitter.
Too bad; wa-wa-wa.........
4. remixfa posted on 27 Feb 2012, 07:07 3 2
can i ask you how many thousands of apps you have on your phone? Even if only 1% of the apps in the market were "killer" apps, thats still 4500 to chose from.. and its obviously a much much higher number than that. And since most apps are cross platform and free on android, are you also saying that apples app store is double crappy since u have to pay for the same apps that are free on android??
Dont be a stooge.
7. RORYREVOLUTION posted on 27 Feb 2012, 07:21 5 2
You must remember apple fanboys love wasting money, they dont like free stuff.
29. maier9900 posted on 27 Feb 2012, 10:37 1 4
Most Apps on the Android market aren't cross platform like you mentioned, it's the opposite. When i had the HTC Sensation 80% of apps that i wanted worked... but recently i exchanged it with a Crappy SGS2 and half the apps i had on the Sensation don't even work on the SGS2 (all from the market), it says not compatible. And i got a lot of friends with dif. android devices that are having the same compatibility issues.
30. remixfa posted on 27 Feb 2012, 10:42 3 1
Yea.... something tells me that entire statement was full of crap.
36. taz89 posted on 27 Feb 2012, 12:55 0 0
agree i have yet to come across an app that i wasnt able to download on my s2..@maier9900 please tell me which apps didnt work...if half didnt work it shouldnt be that hard to come up with
42. maier9900 posted on 27 Feb 2012, 17:36 0 1
I don't need to but just so you get the point, here is one to try on your SGS2, Take "PES 2012" for instance. Try and then post back.
43. taz89 posted on 27 Feb 2012, 17:49 1 0
I would try but its a paid app...show me a free app that don't work...like you said many apps don't work.so it should not be to hard to find a free non working app...also read comments of pes 2012 from s2 owners and all seem happy.
45. maier9900 posted on 27 Feb 2012, 19:40 0 0
there are multiple SGS2 on the market... i own the tmobile version. So tell me where i can go see those reviews like you said... give me a link.
46. taz89 posted on 27 Feb 2012, 19:55 1 0
I can't speak for the t-mo version as I have the exynos version...maybe its a problem with the snapdragon processor...sorry you had to get the inferior s2
38. maier9900 posted on 27 Feb 2012, 13:47 0 0
I guess you don't have much experience.
13. PAPINYC posted on 27 Feb 2012, 07:57 0 4
You are correct; they are 'greater'!!
(And, don't need iWiFi)
8. som posted on 27 Feb 2012, 07:30 3 0
It took Windows phones 6 months to reach 1.5 million sale equal 2 days on Android devices sold.
9. darac posted on 27 Feb 2012, 07:39 2 1
So that would translate into:
1Q 2012 - approx..80 million android activations
2Q 2012 - approx 85 mill.
3Q 2012 - 90 million
4Q 2012 - 100 million
Apple OS is on the way to end up just like it did in PC market share
12. remixfa posted on 27 Feb 2012, 07:53 1 2
dont forget they have been adding an extra 100k per day every quarter basically. it was only 700k in december and like 550k in like august.
15. PAPINYC posted on 27 Feb 2012, 08:01 0 4
What's the name of that other OS, you know, the one that only worked on wi-fi??
Gee, whatever happened to them?
Did they finally get back together with Microsoft: fitting.
16. RORYREVOLUTION posted on 27 Feb 2012, 08:01 2 1
With widgets i love being able to check the time, weather, mail, texts, facebook, twitter, etc etc all from my homescreen without ever opening a single app.
Trust me IOS will eventually have widgets and the fanboys will go crazy. Talk crap now and then praise it later.
19. remixfa posted on 27 Feb 2012, 08:07 5 1
when steve jobs invents it from beyond the grave, then the world will have "iwidgets" (how about iwindows or ipatches) which will totally not be a rip off of any other widget, because ghost Jobs invented it first. And it will also be way more "mature" than android widgets just because its on iOS.
20. RORYREVOLUTION posted on 27 Feb 2012, 08:12 2 1
Indeed! Thats why i only play angry birds on my ipod touch and not on my galaxy nexus. I feel much more mature.
21. taz89 posted on 27 Feb 2012, 08:17 2 1
they allready have a stock and weather widget in the notification.the moment apple allow ios users to choose what widgets they want they will all forget that they all hated widgets...as i like to say fans say they dont care about certain features cause they cant do it but the moment they can they suddenly love it lol..same was said about multitasking, slide down notification etc
26. andro. posted on 27 Feb 2012, 08:41 2 1
Don't forget to include the phrase "iwidgets changes everything again" slogan, you just know apple will include that as its a mental programming trigger to active ifans brains into buy the apple product.
22. protozeloz posted on 27 Feb 2012, 08:27 1 1
Now that everyone does Widgets we could make a widget show off post . Something n the lines of showing your your Widgets and home screens
24. remixfa posted on 27 Feb 2012, 08:33 2 1
it wouldnt be fair to non ICS phones. lol. scrollable widgets are just so awesome. :)
28. protozeloz posted on 27 Feb 2012, 10:04 2 1
I know, but will be good so see some home screens and launchers
31. remixfa posted on 27 Feb 2012, 10:43 1 1
if they would just get their links to work properly from paste like the used to, it would be a much easier contest. these days it seems like 2/3rds of all the links error out when we post them.
25. Tarzan posted on 27 Feb 2012, 08:41 2 1
Thats an impressive feat. I like Android, in fact I like all the OS, even Bada but not iOS.
Way to go Android.
35. jfk0051 posted on 27 Feb 2012, 12:06 0 0
OK. I know this is not a simple question but I am a simple guy whoose cell phone just died. It took an unfortunate swim.
My Verizon store guys said that the Droid Razr Maxx is now the best choice overall. If I am a business user with modest search and email needs, what is the best phone? I also do boating so good visibility in sunlite is a plus. Long battery life is also a plus.
Thanks in advance for the help.
41. W.P._Android_in_that_Order posted on 27 Feb 2012, 14:26 0 0
Yeah. He is right for your needs. It sounds like you need a sturdy phone with a good battery life and the Razr Maxx is easily the best fit for you. The battery is going to last almost twice as long as any other smartphone out there plus it has a special coating that helps wick away moisture.
The other option you have is to go with a basic phone and a tablet which is what i do since the tablets have good battery life as well. Its just that most people dont like this idea cuz i have to carry around 2 devices all the time.
I hope that helps

850K activations a day turn into 310,250,000 a year. that number seems a tad bit crazy. good for droid i suppose.
40. W.P._Android_in_that_Order posted on 27 Feb 2012, 14:14 0 0
like remixfa said, windows live tile ARE widgets. Thats part of the reason i like winows phones.
