Android 7.1 Nougat beta starts hitting OnePlus 3 and 3T

OnePlus is keeping up with the timely Android Nougat updates, as the Chinese company announced a new Android 7.1 Nougat update is available for its 3 and 3T smartphones. The beta build is pushed OTA (over the air) to all those who agreed to participate in the beta program.

There's one caveat, as the new Android 7.1 Nougat beta build is based on HydrogenOS, which is meant for the Chinese versions of the OnePlus 3 and 3T.

It's a bit unusual for the Chinese variants to get a new update before the global version, especially that many users in China actually prefer OxygenOS over HydrogenOS.

Nevertheless, if you're one of the lucky owners of the OnePlus 3 or 3T, and absolutely must have Android 7.1 Nougat beta on your phone, then you can go ahead and update to the new version.

OnePlus even announced the new update contains the March security patch. Some users even claim the beta build has significantly improved touch latency. Aside from that, you'll be getting lots of Gallery improvements, as well as new options for the integrated picture editor.

The new beta build weighs in at 1.32GB, so make sure you have enough storage before attempting to upgrade to Android 7.1 Nougat. We're expecting a similar update based on OxygenOS to be rolled out to OnePlus 3 and 3T very soon, so don't despair yet.
